poem #66: imaginary friend

i have an imaginary friend
and she is just like me
i need her in the hard times
like when i am fighting with my friends

she is always there
and she reminds me that I still have her
and she helps me through times of despair
and shares my euphoria in the brightest hour

she feels what i do
and knows me better than I know myself
she tells me what to do in the hard times
and takes care of me when I can't do it myself.

she is my little helper
and exists only in my head
words constantly whispering
it is okay.
i am here.

poem #67: the fairy house

across the road
from the dairy queen
there is a large beech tree
tall, with red leaves that bloom in the summer

and knobs wrapping around the smooth trunk.
nearby one of them
their is a painted rock.
it says that inside the tree is a fairy house

and to not take the rock
but exchange rocks with others.
walking around it
their are many things

glass mushrooms
and lots of pretty, painted rocks
initials carved into it
surrounded by hearts

and legend has it
if you listen closely
you can hear the fairies whispering
and the buzz of their wings

but maybe that
is just
the sound of
the leaves in the wind.

poem #68: I have a dream

i have a dream
that one day
i will dance above the clouds
and sing

i have a dream
that sometime
i will finally be free
and laugh

i have a dream
that one day
no dreams can
go away

i have a dream
that one day
no promises
can be broken.

i have a dream
that maybe later
there are dreams that never
ever end

poem #69: I have a dream part 2

i have a dream
that fantasies were real
but for now
they are whispering to us

from yellowed pages of an old book.

I have a dream
that one day
dreams never ended
and would never be forgotten

when you wake up from slumber

I have a dream that one day
the world will be colorful again
and help it's people
and never break it's promises
and let dreams fly around

in the hardest times
in the darkest corner.

poem #71: dream

dreams are floating
on the breeze
and through the thick woods
branches encrusted with thorns and sharp twigs

but the dreams easily fit through them
they are like air
unbeatable
and unable to hold

some dreams are flying because they were forgotten
crying, because there mission failed
but others are just beginning theirs
smiles on their faces

this is the beginning of all dreams
but some come to an end and are forgotten
just don't let that happen to you
or you will be in the dark, thorn ridden forest too

with only the
lost dreams
as your unwanted company.

poem #72: wish

i wish on the little dandelion
swaying in the wind
sitting in the edge of the sidewalk crack
and little dandelion seeds fly away

turning into new wishes
waiting to be blown by little children.
who are hoping for probably silly things
but just maybe they are waiting for something to happen too.

poem #74: fourth of july

we run through the streets
fireworks exploding above us
independence day playing through the loudspeaker
rupturing neighbors eardrums

but we don't care
because it is fourth of july
and euphoria is filling me
boiling up inside until it shouts its name

in a disguise that is the song
independence day
and I can feel myself wanting
to scream and shout

that i am happy
euphoric
grateful
and most of all, free.

poem #75: the afternoon

the hot sun is starting to cool down
and we sit in the shade drinking lemonade
elbows on the grass
turning the pages of a book

Listening to the mower next door
and the birds chirping in the air
and the soft summer breeze
carrying the sounds

feeling the scratchy grass
and the soft paper
and the wind making the pages go flying around
brushing my soft, delicate hands

smelling the fresh cut grass
and the sweet lemonade
the smell of life
in the air

seeing the squirrels jumping from
branch to branch
and the trees swaying
the sun hiding behind gray storm clouds

tasting the sweet lemonade
and the smell of grass
trees, dogs
and oddly, the feel calamity in the sea of chaos

poem #76: clouds
the blanket of night is being pulled back slowly
revealing gray cumulus clouds below it
lighting the streets
and allowing us a view of all of the trees for miles.

and the ones in our front yards are beginning to blossom
the cherry petals are falling off the trees
being replaced by green leaves
and pile up on the curbs

the sun peeks up from behind the evergreens
beyond the fence in our yard
squirrels hop from branch to branch
celebrating the warmth of the sun

poem #77: lake of the past? (the question mark is to represent how much we question ourselves)

the silver reflections
tell a story, beautiful and unique
but all too familiar
until i realize that it is mine

all of the twists, and turns
the roses and thorns
the happiness, sadness and everything in between
the flashes go down deep

and paint a picture on a canvas
abstract, so that i am the only one who can understand it
my unique story
i smile, still in my head

and realize that the flashes are only
trout fish

poem #78: bird song

i rub my eyes and crack my window
draw the curtains
and open the blinds
and the sound of chirping fills my room

it fills my vision with colors
red, blue, feathery, bright green
and reminds me of the colorful past
and the fish telling my story

and now the birds are done singing their morning song
and I start the day.

poem #79: typewriter

click clack

goes the typewriter on the table by the shop
in the dead of night

tick tock

goes the clock by the desk
striking midnight

click clack

go the keys again
typing out a story

slap, slap

go the flip-flops down the sidewalk
returning home

yawn open

goes the store manager at 7:00 AM

gasp, surprise

goes his face when he sees the pages
filled with corrections, side notes and black text

crumple, crumple

goes the unseen story
falling into the garbage

never to be read

poem #81: music

i put on the headphones
and turn the volume up
all the way
it blasts in my ears

and even though I am going deaf
i can still hear the rhythm
and i tap my feet to it
and sing along during the chorus
