Just found out about this, so starting late.

No criticism needed, but appreciated if you want to.

12 APRIL 2009: A Haiku for pollen on my car hood.

Sleek smooth sunlit steel
Invigorates vernal vice;
Damn yellow plant sperm!

13 APRIL 2009: Lament for a Somali

Sitting here,
sticky
in the blinding sun
Where stale sea
Meets pale sky.

My seventeen years
of hunger and thirst,
like sweaty prayer beads-
encircled by leviathans below
And the wings of Death above.

Chewing my last pull of khat
Just further dulls the desperation.
Piss dribbles through arid leg hair, sizzles on the deck.
Forehead skin tingles,
The air is as salt.

Suspended between heaven and hell,
My cracked feet roasting
like spilt brains on a molten Mogadishu street.
Foam from a dead sea burns down from my eyes.
It’s surreal.

Heart is heavy like molten lead.
Blackened apes, us three
Sun-raw, preserved by sea salt.
Jaundiced eyes dart two by two
And betray newfound atheism.

The final film of spring water
Flows as muddy rain down my cheek.
Wretched fingers petitioning beads...
Hoping to find mama’s famine-dryed tit
Find only a driftwood Kalashnikov stock - now there’s faith.

Waves lap like spilt gasoline
Somehow, he’s a wrathful god, kneeling, with the beard like ocean spray.
I raise my leaden bullet-caster in worship
Like the shaman tribesmen of old.
And Sun like Thunderhead finger cracks my skull.

14 APRIL 2009: So I was listening to ARCH ENEMY...

Head slams Back! Forth!
Back!
Forth!
Spiraling, spinning, twisting, tearing
‘Till the torsion splits my neck disks!

There is nothing now,
No pain, no sorrow, no loneliness,
No here, no then, nor 'morrow
Just Death! I feel alive,
I AM ALIVE!

SO ALIVE!
Squealing!
A phoenix soaring, screeching
above shattered marble of this damned world ,
I’m borne on wings of sacred fire!

Molten lead flows warm through my veins
And the light from my eyes like lightning
My taut body ripples in exultation, sweat glitters like an aura
The machine-gun thudding of thunderhooves
A trillion dark riders-a dark fluid ocean-to set the world free!

Baptized in pure sound,
Surrounded by the black-robed angels of wild and reckless beauty
Screaming, thrashing mad, flying!
My heartstrings screech and howl in distortion
Crunching my mind and freeing my soul.

Nightly bleeding my mortal pains with holy blade
When the dull and stupid pleasures wane and I am overcome by pain
And flee the universe in vain...I AM SAVED THROUGH MUSIC!
Slamming my head through Heaven and Hell, crying, I thank God for this salvation;
And yet they call this blasphemy!?

15 APRIL 2009: WTF

Alas!
I don’t have
Time
(Who does?)
To compose a poem-
So goodnight!
Maybe I’ll write one tomorrow.

22 APRIL 2009:

I'll be gone this week and won't be able to write, let alone post anything. Probably my last NaPoWriMo right here.

So just for the occasion, here's a round of some angst poetry!

Haiku-Am I obvious?

If I’m the gay one,
Then tell me why I see
Your shorts pointing at me.

Misunderstood Teen

They say that to be great
Is to be misunderstood,

And they say that to be understood,
One must first understand;

They don’t understand me,
But I understand them; I understood them first.

And I don’t give a shit about them.
Am I not great?

What I do during class

God, I look at her
And hope she looks at me
And then we’ll meet
And then we’ll see

I think that was when I began to realize that reputation isn't everything. I should focus less about how others perceive me and more about what makes me happy. Because, in the end, I have to live with myself.
