As anyone who has been here awhile knows, I am always trying to make things more efficient and easier to navigate.

The biggest problem with navigating is that it can take you up to five clicks just to get where you want to go. For instance, to take the new "Famous Ancient Authors" Quiz, you have to go to "Downloads & Games" under "Community," then "Test Your Knowledge," then "Authors" and then finally you can click on the link to the quiz. Only then can you play it. That's four clicks right there, and that doesn't even count getting to YWS in the first place or having to click the "Submit" button.

So instead, I'm thinking of displaying YWS completely on one page. That way, all you would have to do is scroll down. No clicking at all! Everything (posts, articles, sudoku, downloads) would all be on one page. Just scroll to get where you want to, and you're good.

I think there'll be some opposition to this idea at first, but I really think that once people get used to it that they'll prefer it.

That's a really good idea! I might get carpel tunnel from all the scrolling--but you're more likely to get it from all the clicking.

We're going to be the most nouveau writing site ever! You're such a genius Nate. I dare not kiss the feet of one such as yourself for fear of blowing up from contact with such amazing.

Good idea Nate!
But don't you think the home page will get a bit... er... packed XD
Maybe you could limit it to fewer clicks like maybe one or two...

Cheers,
Genevieve

I'm inclined to agree with Gwen. I think that if you packed it all on one page, it'd be like those sites that people's eyes just bug out on because of all the content on the single page. You could reduce the clicks, but I think it's pretty efficient now. Do what you want though; you're the techie! :P

Whatever you do, I'll support. *huggles* :)

LOL, when I first came to YWS, there was only one page that you scrolled down to see. And I loved that. So I wouldn't mind at all. :D

Hmm, I'm not sure if people understand the idea. But it is revolutionary!

Everything will be on one page. No clicking at all. Every single post, topic, and everything else will be on one page. This post as well as every single one of my other posts along with everyone else's posts would be on the same page (with breakers of course). It'd be like this...

Omg, Nate! I love it! Can you do it right away? Then people will have a chance to get used to the change!

So that way novels wouldn't be 7 pages long? :D

Wow! But it would be impossible to find things!
What would you have links at the top of the pages that brought you down to a certain place?
Because every single topic. Every story every picture every game everything! All on one page?!
Thats a little much don't you think?
I am sorry it is just kinda not makin' sense to me XD

Exactly Snoink!

Gwen ->> Having links at the top would ruin it. If you don't want to scroll, just press "ctril + f" then type in what you are looking for. That'll do the trick!

I'm liking this, a lot. I hate clicking all the time... Helps with how impatient I am with loading times too. xD

Can't wait to see it happen. ^^

Yes! Peng hit the jack pot, something the rest of us didn't realize.

Only one page to load!

Nate. I'm on a roll. What if it was just text, too, and we got rid of all the images? Then it would load fast, and there would be only one page. It would be immediate YWS access. *glee*

Anna's right! And that would be amazing for those of us with lame graphics cards that like to freeze the computer -- or dial-up connections!
