... I'll doubtless be back to more to add on... ^_~ This was an excellent idea.

(Eep, not taking notes. Maybe we could have Nate work out some sort of polling system...?)

Trident, be our guest! With all of us putting suggestions here, we're confusing ourselves. An organisational touch would improve it no-end!
There's always been a lot of tension between Lois and me, and it's not so much that I want to kill her, it's just, I want her to not be alive anymore.

First of all, I'm glad everybody liked this idea enough to make a separate thread for it. :D

Secondly, we need to be more organized. I don't think simply nominating books is going to work. Chaos will inevitably result.

Here's a better idea: First, we should nominate by genre. That should break it up a lot. That will be the first round. Once we have enough nominations per genre, qwe'll put a to a vote. Depending on the number of nominations, they should go through at least on or two more rounds. Then, the finalist round. We'll have nominations for the number placements for the finalists and repeat the above.

I know that it sounds slightly confusing, but I think that this idea will work better if we put some effort into it.

I'm sure we can come up with a forum type. Any HTML people out there who can do something like this? (I know HTML just...not enough)

First, you submit your votes, then the top 100 (0r 25?) that got nominated get voted on.

this web site is kind of like that, I think. I posted it on the other thread: http://www.wanderlist.com/bestbooks

Crime and Punishment
Lolita
If on a winters night a traveler
Picture of Dorian Grey
Hitchhikers (and all the others)
The metamorphosis (Kafka's)
The Metamorphoses (Ovid)
Camille (Dumas Fils)
Count of Monte Cristo (Dumas Pere)

Like I said, in the other thread :-)

I think this thread will work out fine for nominations. I think I'll start another thread that will simply list the nominations and that thread can also be used to debate/reason on what would not be acceptable. And since we have so many fans of different genres, I think two lists should be made:

--One with classics or books fifty years or older.

--One with newer books, or books newer than fifty years old.

Thoughts?
Perception is everything.

We could create sepearte nomination forums for each genre so that the nomination process isn't too confusing.

Sounds good here. :that's all I'm saying:

How about we PM a willing volunteer with nominations, and he/she can count them up/something?

Sounds great. That way the classics won't be competing with the moderns, and vice-versa

Classics should definitely be included. If my theory works out, in the finalist round, we could have separate voting between classics and newer books.

I also think nominations should go into a forum that doesn't cost 15 points each time. I'll run out soon! ^_^
