As guy is to gal, Bloke is to ??

I've been wondering about this for a while. There are two main slang words to designate Men and Women:

1. Guy, gals/girls/gels/etc. (international)
2. Due, dudette (not very popular and my least favourite)

Now we come to the British slang word to designate men: Bloke. Thing is there is no female vertion that I have encountered as yet. Any proposals?

It's 'chick'.

I'm not really sure about the female version of "bloke", but you forgot "lad" and "lass" or "lassie".

In Australia we say blokes and shielas.

Chick is said a lot in America.

Isn't "bird" the British equivalent of the American "chick"? That's what I've heard anyways...

That is what I have heard as well, though I'm guessing "Chick" is thrown around a lot more here than "Bird" is over there.

It's generally "Babe" or "Baby".
