I chose him for my author study not very expectant, but Of mice and Men blew my breath away. He is brilliant! I am now reading The Pearl, it is not quite so good. What should I read next if you know him? If you don't, do!

We had to read Of Mice and Men back in Year 8 and I did enjoy reading it, we read The Pearl before Of Mice and Men and I prefered The Pearl. I haven't read anything else by John Steinbeck.

Read it when i was in 3rd year a great, but sad book an a good film, another good one i've heard is the Grapes of Wrath.

I don't know anything about grades but people in Year 8 are 12 going on 13. And 3rd year is Year 9, or it might vary I'm not sure.

Did you hate Of Mice and Men or The Pearl. If you haven't read The Pearl just try it out, if you still don't like it try another author.

I haven't read of mice and men, but I've read the peral and east of eden. east of eden was amazing. the pearl I didn't like as much.. a bit morbid, if I recall correctly.

I have to read the grapes of wrath and of mice and men, hopefully soon.. maybe after finals.

(as for years in school.. 6 form is what years in numbers? the american equivalent would be 11/12 grade, so just count backwards from there)

I had to read Of Mice and Men for my GCSE English in year 11 and I really liked it. I saw the film beforehand though and some of the people I watched it with hated it because of what happens at the end. They could easily read the book though, the film is definitly not a good thing to watch if you are squeemish so start with the book as it is less graphical.
I do know that the book was only written to be made into a film though.
All in all I think it's a good book and worth reading although I haven't read any of his other books.
I used up all my sick days, so I'm calling in dead.

I haven't read it, though I hear it is a classic. Nice to see that you are reading them though.

Most of the stuff I've been reading is history. Then some more history. Then an action adventure novel before some more history.

Now it's school stuff.
