Some say it's Gossip Girl in the Victorian Era. But the choice is up to you if you want to pick it up, again.

Just think of gossip, drama, handsome gentlemen, back-stabbing friends, scandalous lives, etc. in 1899. It all depends if you're in for that sort of thing and like that era. (Or maybe you like all eras)

It defiantly has romance to it, and drama galore. I'm almost halfway with the Luxe and I find it quite interesting. I would definitely recommend it.

If you decide to read the Luxe, and you like it, read the others...

*Rumors ~ 2nd
*Envy ~ 3rd (doesn't come out til '09)

I'm reading it right now, actually, I started it today. Her writing style isn't the best, but it does keep its promise when it says that it's "delicious." If you like A Great And Terrible Beauty you'd probably like it, and vice versa- only AGATB has a fantasy element to it. But I'm definitely enjoying it, it's simply so... well, naughty :D. It is a bit Gossip Girl-y, I guess, but the Victorian-ness of it all gives it a brand new different dimension.

If you want an easy, fun read, go for it.
