I second the recommendation for The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. That is a great story even though it is fairly sad. It has mature themes though but it is an amazing plot-line. It goes into how Queen Anne got onto the throne of England and it explained the reasons why the people called her names. The Other Boleyn Girl is an awesome story and certainly has some romance and some not-so-romance. It also has its angsty moments.
Great story.

Any Bernard Cornwell or Patrick O'Brian book will be an excellent read
