I most certainly loved The Riftwar Saga by Raymond E. Fiest! Including all of his other books, except for maybe ... bah :? :? :? Talon of the Silver Hawk. Ewww.... To me, that book was to short, and poorly done. I had expected so much more from Fiest after reading the Riftwar Saga and Serpant War Saga. Yeesh, he was a lazy author when it came to Talon of the Silver Hawk. *Shakes head*

However, despite that, I did enjoy the Riftwar Saga and found it purely enjoying to read. Mixed with a lot of action and adventures a reader would most definetly love, I found myself reading the book over and over again! But the romance sickened me! First, he led us on to believe that Pug and Carline were meant to be, then what? Pug and Katala? What the heck?! Where did that come from?! I really wanted Pug and Carline together, but Fiest isn't really a good romance writer. Oh well, I still enjoyed the book and found that Tomas, was my favorite charater.

If you disliked Fiest, or if you do like Fiest, what's your opinion about this author?
I'm a girl, and that rocks!

I claim Hayden Christensen. Major Hottie!

Steven Erickson rules! Sadly, however, not all of his books are within my grasp. *Begin's to cry.*

George RR Martin and Robin Hobb totally expand the world of literacy like many other fantastic authors. Wouldn't you say?

I've actually never heard of the author, but it does sound good. I'll put it down on my wish list.

I read Magician Apprentice and Master and loved them both. The third book I never finished because the sneaky guy went and changed main characters on me. I miss Pug and Thomas. But yeah. Feist is one of the best high fantasy writers out there. He's got a solid narrative style and his worlds are so rich with detail and wonderfully vibrant. He has this grand scope of epicness that is just refreshing to read as well as his treatment of character. He's definently a must read for avid fantasy readers and those who like Tolkien.
That love is suffering is easy to see, for before the love becomes equally balanced on both sides there is no torment greater, since the lover is always in fear that his love may not gain its desire and that he is wasting his efforts.

I love reading Fiest, but i agree with you, the Conclave of the Shadows series is going downhill slowly, the most recent, Exiles is a real let down, the first book of his i read was Jimmy the Hand, i really liked the way it was written, i went on to get the Riftware books, and liked the way Jimmy had a part in all of them, and i see how he got to be Duke of Krondor, i enjoyed reading the books about the Serpentwar as well, but Jimmy has to be my favourite character. I also agree about the romance, you either need to do a good job or dont at all, the Pug Carline thing was disapointing, and confusing, depending on what order you read the books, because i read Serpentwar after Jimmy the Hand, i supposed Pug had married someone royal because he was a member of the royal family, so i was dissapointed when i found out how if had gone, but i stick with Feist because hes a great writer of original stories, and i can't wait till his next book
