Here's a short story by one of the creators of the modern short story. And it's really creepy and terrible in a cool weird way. The story's plot is that of vengeance as I'm sure you can guess from the title. It is about a frail mother's desire for vengeance for the death of her son. But she has one problem. How does a frail old lady take vengeance without the help of another? This problem leads to a shocking conclusion that you never would've guessed from the start.

Enjoy! http://www.classicshorts.com/stories/vendetta.html

This sounds interesting though currently I have an image of a granny beating someone up with her handbag. Hehe. I shall certainly keep it in mind though next time I go on a book buying frenzy.

Well, the story is actually based sometime during the mid to late 19th century in France (I believe) and you can just read it straight from the link - take you probably 10 min, tops.
