YWS: Non-Fiction: General Articles

Firstly, please decide whether or not your piece is a review. If you are reviewing a film, book, movie, video game, etc, then please post your piece in the REVIEWS section of Non-Fiction, which can be found here.

The General Articles Section is for Non-Fiction writing that falls under:

1. Essays

2. Tales

3. Columns

4. Informative Articles

5. Speeches

If you're not sure, please post it in the General Articles section as your piece will be easier to move to Reviews or In the News at a later time. Please also note that the In the News section is for discussion about News events only. If you'd like to have an article of your own about something going on in the news critiqued, then it belongs in GENERAL ARTICLES.

You will also find a Q&A thread if you happen to have any queries and a Non-Fiction Directory with links to helpful resources when you're writing Non-Fiction.

Directory is here.
Q&A Thread is here.

A final thing to note is that formatting works is heavily encouraged in Non-Fiction writing - take advantage of the BB Code that YWS has at its disposal (but by all means, try and keep main body text black). Also, Non-Fiction is about real events, real happenings, real situations. Discussion is also encouraged in General Articles, but please be wary of the following rules:

Nate wrote:1. In debates, do not hit below the belt; ie, no cheap shots.

2. No vulgarity.

3. You should be able to back up your opinions with supporting facts and sound logic. However, also be open-minded to what other people consider as strong supporting facts. Just because you think Alternative Science Monthly is filled with lies does not necessarily make it so.

4. Respect the fact that not everyone is going to agree with you. You are entitled to your opinion and you have every right to express it; just remember that everyone else has those same rights.

5. Only topics of a serious nature should be discussed here.

6. Ability to post in this forum is a privilege, not a right.

7. Your grammar must be good.

Thank you.
