YWS Review Day: 100 Reviews Mark

Reviewers of the Young Writers Society just passed the 100-review mark for the January Review Day! With more participants joining this month's Review Day, the goal of 650 reviews is not too hard to achieve.

Leading the four teams is Team Red with 3250 points. Second comes Team Blue with 2616 points then Team Green with 2035 points. Team Yellow comes last with 670 points.

YWS Review Day: Reviewer Spotlight!
Some reviewers just can't get enough attention with their quality reviews!

Starlene just gave a quoting review for the poem Pangs of Past. In this one, she focused on chopping up parts of the piece and then commenting on each of them. This gives her a good and proper speed.

Trident also had a well-said review for Querida Xaviera. Using another quoting technique to make his review a lot clearer, Trident focused on confusing parts of the story.

YWS Updates!

YWS switches server hosts to Linode

Nate announced today that YWS was switching to Linode after a series of consistent failures by VPS.net.

Nate wrote:I've already run a couple of stress tests that used to bring YWS down. One is the calculation of the all-time leaderboards, and the other was a backup of the database without any options. In both cases, the CPU load on the Linode server never even came close to the CPU load at the slowest times of day on the VPS.net server. It's like upgrading from a Pinto to a Lexus. Technically, both will get you to your destination, but one will offer a much smoother ride over the other.

Clubs Return to YWS

Clubs have finally returned to YWS. First introduced to replace usergroups, clubs provided a place for members to create a place communities and served YWS prior to the YWS Apollo update.

While the club section is visible, it is still under construction and can not be fully used yet. Squills speculates that Nate intended to implement it earlier, but the recent server problems (see above) demanded his attention.

Many members who are waiting to use clubs intend to use them to coordinate site activities, Squills included.

YWS Review Day: Rush Hours

With over a hundred yet reviews to go and only a merely less than three hours left, can reach the quota of 650 reviews total? Insurmountable it might be, the goal of the January Review Day of 650 reviews is still achievable as said by Nate himself through a mass PM sent to all reviewers.

we've done it before and I know we can do it again.

Nate said. He also encouraged everyone to review more on the Green Room instead.
There's still a lot of stuff in the Green Room that needs to be attacked, and don't worry about leaving a long review. It's much better for a work to receive 2 short reviews than 0 reviews after all! To reach the max of 100 points, it only takes about 400 words total.
