Screw love screw hate,
Stuff destiny, stuff fate,
In this world we are alone,
The things we do,
And the doors we pass through,
Lead us to the final promise.

Lori Nickel

Chapter 1: a trip with out meaning
Monday 2nd of June
About 8am

The bus is jogging along the road at the same old annoyingly slow pace that it has all the way to Dover. I’m at home when I’m in some form of Ferrari darting down open roads past a mush of green to some adventure, but sat in an old rickety bus moving like a turtle bores me especially when I’m with a mingle of Goths, Chavs & plastics. Yes most of the time when I leap in to a moving vehicle it has some undercover purpose and fast enough to win the grand prix. Amber is sitting next to me having a whale of a time screaming and yelling and just plain getting in to trouble, labelling everyone she meets, or who dared to walk past her.
“Emily, your Gemo mixture of Goth and emo,” She keeps yelping to Emily about 3 seats down.
“No I’m not,” Emily cries beginning to get angry, this had gone for an hour and was really getting on my nerves.
Yes Emily wears a spiky black belt half way down her knees but so. Does that mean her a Gemo? Any way, I think I need to introduce myself; I’m not just a normal 15 year old. My studies are not the main thing on my mind. In fact my studies are pointless, I’ve already got a degree in law… and I am a spy.
I’m Lori Nickel newest junior for teen spy &co. and just getting to grips with all this spider man stuff, I still get excited every time the word mission is mentioned. Nancy and Tom created Teen Spy & co. And are both head spies. Nancy has the iciest personality imaginable every time I start leaping around HQ like some sort of pogo stick she gives me this very evil look which says “ will you just grow up. Your getting on my last nerve remember I can fire you”. Tom on the other hand is like my big brother and when I start leaping around like a pogo stick says “enjoy the excitement Lori before it wears off”. Nancy is sat behind me announcing to the whole bus that she had made the right choice by getting the zebra cushion instead of the leopard one. I forgot to tell you that she’s a pathetic bitch, she hates me. She passionately hates and I often hear her bitching about me and to be completely and entirely honest she can be rather blunt about it. I sit in front and mimic as if getting travel sickness isn’t bad enough I think I was also getting ear ache. Tom is sat at the back of the bus in extra leg room seats (NOT FAIR! Wait don’t think I’m a jealous person cause really I’m not) Who ever was sat next to him was shrieking, “ Oh how awesome are these crutches,” except in a much girlier voice. The intermediate spy is Ella so she’s in the middle for ability but don’t mistake her she thoroughly team bitch face Nancy. Nancy fires up as she says Friendly debates and I just take them to seriously and make them spiral into arguments, AS IF! Does this sound friendly “Lori Shut your big fat mouth and start using your common sense & listen to me, you don’t know right from left in the spying business so if you want to be killed take your other stupid route but remember I’m always right!” and I so much as sulk I then get this squawked at me “Excuse me Lori, I’m not blind you know,” in the same annoying tone every time. I never reply, I’ll be plunged into an anguished death if I ever did. There are only two other juniors Ryan & Corbin & were kind of a team. Ryan is like my annoying twin brother who I argue a lot with but deep down, Way WAY WAY! Deep down I like him as friend. Ryan is terrible for being a flirt there is no two ways about it. He’s completely perverse. I can hear him know saying “Hey beautiful. You’ve pulled” and a shrieking reply says, “Go away now,” and this is a common reply. Corbin on the other hand is the total opposite; he’s cool and every girl dreams of being his girlfriend, yet he never asks anyone to be his girlfriend. His glimmering brown eyes are pools of love and he is the only thing keeping me alive on both missions and this stupid BUS! The final member of the squad was Ian, Ian of HQ! Ian doesn’t spy he did once but he got so high in the company that Tom put in charge of finding the information. He is intelligent, beyond belief. Really this boy should be in privet school blowing up marble chemistry labs right this second, but he’s not, and with him I guess there really would be no Teen Spy & Co. because we would have no idea what missions we were doing. So that’s the team
Juniors: Lori; Ryan & Corbin
Intermediates: Ella
Heads: Nancy & Tom
HQ: Ian
Simple and yet I am still on this Stupid BUS. Someone give me strength. Right all this Gemo & Crutched Gabble is really making go insane; if we don’t reach a service station and quick I think I may have a serious mental issue. Ooh is that a Moto ahead. Hopefully. May just be on my side too, it is, it is, ahh safety at last.

Now about 9.30am
Sorry I left you so long. 45 minuets on a dumb bus isn’t my perfect pleasure ether. I am sorry but I was desperate for the toilet and then I spotted Smiths (WHSmithes) and bought a box of snaps, they might just shut Amber up. The teachers says we are about 30 minuets away from Dover which is fantastic and the only reason we stopped was because if we didn’t the coach would broke down. I wish it had. Then I could of called the Teen Spy & Co. transport team got a privet jet all the way to France (a much better plan). You know I think preferred all the talk about crutches it so beats the talk about the Nintendo DS’s everyone’s on them & just my luck mine has broke! It’s ok though only ½ an hour to go and we are on the boat. I think I might go to sleep. Night.

10 Am (for certain)
Yes! Guess what? We are on the boat a good old P&O Ferry! With a shop, a restaurant, a deck and Uh Sea sickness. My head is so drowsy I think I might just be sick straight over the person next to me. Keep your distance people! Teen Spy & Co. is meeting on deck I really have to be there so I’ll tell what happens a bit later.

11 Am (I think)
My prays have been answered we have a mission, this utterly boring trip has a meaning and I don’t mean supposedly looking at French culture (yawn) I mean a spy meaning. A French spy meaning. Someone is planning to steal the Mona Lisa in the next two weeks while we are in France the head of the Louve security system has left us as his worthy spies. How cool is that? I knew that I loved spying for a reason, this is it the excitement buzzing through my blood with every beat of the heart. This sly criminal better watch out because Teen Spy & Co. is on the case. Well not for another 6 hours at least, but then Teen Spy & Co. will be on the case. I can play damsel in distress and my hansom prince Corbin shall rescue me. Ahh I WISH! Sometimes I wish I wasn’t a good spy because I always end up saving Corbin’s butt instead of the other way around. I’m so excited! I think I’m getting on everyone’s nerves now because I’m blurting out stuff like “ Who bought something on the ship!” really loud and everyone is looking at as though I’m completely brainless. Doesn’t matter though because WE HAVE A MISSION La la la la la-la. I feel as though I’m the only person in the world because I’m blocking out all the George Samsung nonsense ever though he is admittedly amazingly gorgeous. It’s incredible the adrenalin that’s beating through my veins, mind you I’m not sure it’s definitely the mission as I keep hearing great celebrity gossip. Some one just mentioned a new spy movie starting Zac Effron I have to listen!

11pm (In French time)
Were hear (Unfortunately) and it’s not good. I thought great we’ve arrived a chance to chill with all my Teen Spy & Co. friends out on the field before going to our rooms and having secret parties. I was SOOO wrong. We have been put into rooms and I’m in with Whinny Codd, Buck-toothed boy maniac, Sally Fair, complete chav who sits on her bed and listens to rave songs all day, Alice Jefferson, quite hysterical when she trips over thin air & Pepper-lee Davies, a self-obsessed motor-biker. It’s not great & I have whole hour to wait until I sneak into Tom’s room for a PARTY. I’m picking out an outfit cause only Very to ½ popular people are invited. Tom’s classed as very cool because he’s laid back and care free, I’m at the ½ popular crowd but I’m getting there scene as though I am part of Tom’s crew. I think I’m going to wear my white ¾ skinny jeans & my red and white stripy vest. I’m also wearing my anchor necklace, so nautical. Alice is a sleep and snoring the place down but I think it should cover me well when I sneak out. Pepper-lee is coming too but you’ll never guess what she’s wearing: a neon pink tee that say’s “HOT… stuff?” in bright orange; a black leather diesel jacket (that cost £99! I found the label) and her baggy black jeans. Whinny is too busy texting her boyf to be bothered about where were going (he lives in London and is an apparent Hunk in Whinny’s dreams) and Sally is hosting her own party in our room, it’s chav’s only. So time to go checklist:
• Straight hair
• Cool outfit
• Mobile phone on silent
• Cool party tunes
Ready steady go!

Tuesday 3rd of June
4am

Wow what a cool night, well in fact quite a lot went wrong but that just made it even better. When I got there I was told, “ Oh my god Lori those tunes are ancient, come on are you broke or just completely lame,” Nancy sniggered. I have had enough of her and stupid little comments, I have no taste, this is coming the girl how wore leopard skin legging a zebra skirt and a hot pink vest, she looked a freak. Oh look a text from her lets read!

I’m putting not 3 kisses she doesn’t deserve it I might take that one off.
Bye
P.S. Watch out for a catfight.

5am[/color]
AAARRR
She is such a witch she was screaming in my face saying I ate all the panna cotta. Excuse me but no way, did I eat it, she ate most of it so who is she talking to. Also she says I’m the reason everyone got thrown out. Again I don’t think so! She was the one screeching ‘I believe I can fly ‘at the top the of her tonsils!
But guess what I’m staying calm. Cool as a cucumber. I’m not going to go around squealing my head off in anger. But that’s only because everyone is asleep & it would be unfair to wake them. But in 2 hours I can squeal as much as I like. What is the point in going to sleep now? I’ll read my spy case files.

6.30am
Looks cool this mission. Somebody is planning to steal the Mona Lisa from the Louve and hopes to sell it to the prime minister of Switzerland for millions. Must be Nancy’s granny or something, cause only the Gregory family are that evil?

Hi smile, I'm Kenzie and I'll be reviewing this today. By the way, welcome to YWS! Hope you have a great time writing with us. :smt001

First of all, the idea is a bit cliche, no offense, I think you could have made the plot a lot more interesting and original. I think this could definitly use a little tuning, but has potential!

In your writing you should work on showing, not telling.
For example,

This isn't the best way to introduce your plot and main-characters. First of all, it's more telling the reader instead of showing, and secondly, you're starting info-dumps. I would suggest that instead of explaining your plot and characters in a large, never-ending paragraph that will probobly cause the reader to loose intrest, try sprinkling hints of your characters and plots around. Like if you need to introduce your narrarators name, instead of coming straight out and telling us "I'm Lori" maybe another character could call her name, and the reader might get the hint.

In the gigantic paragraph in the middle, you introduce way too many characters, and it can get really confusing for the reader. If it's not nessesary, than try taking a few of the unnessesary names and information out.

Also, your dialogue isn't overly realistic. For example,
smilelikeyoumeanit wrote:“Emily, your Gemo mixture of Goth and emo,”
I just can't see someone saying that exactly. Something I could suggest is writing down others actual conversations, just to get an idea on the way different people talk. Make sure you think whether someone would actually say it like that.

smilelikeyoumeanit wrote:The bus is jogging along the road at the same oldcommaannoyingly slow pace that it has all the way to Dover.

When you have more than one adjective in a row, you need to add commas.

smilelikeyoumeanit wrote:but sat in an old rickety bus moving like a turtle bores me especially when I’m with a mingle of Goths, Chavs & plastics.

"sat" should be "sitting"

smilelikeyoumeanit wrote:Yescomma most of the time

smilelikeyoumeanit wrote:“Emily, your Gemocomma a mixture of Goth and emo,” She keeps yelping to Emily about 3 seats down.

your shows posession, so it should actually be "you're"

smilelikeyoumeanit wrote:45 minuets

"minuets" is spelled "minutes"

Anyway, just be sure to go back and check for mistakes. I think this has a lot of potential, so keep writing! I hope I could help and I hope it wasn't too harsh!

anchor :)
no i don't take any offense. the first chapter needs work and that's why i uploaded that one because the plot unfolds after but i needed to sort this bit out so it makes you want to read the next section which is admittedly better :L i have found you comments really useful and i'll take them on board and "tweek" the story. If you could give me any more advice i would much appreciate it.
thank you

Every time I’ve gotten feedback that was hard to take it was usually hard to take because there was truth in it and I didn’t like that (or didn’t want to receive it). That’s not to say all harsh feedback is good or that we should be harsh for harshness’ sake, but learning to absorb truth without letting it break your inner core/break you is a lifelong skill that keeps your mind elastic and open to learning.
