CHAPTER ONE: INTRO
"Qallar! Look! There's the new kid! Isn't he SO cuuuuuute!" Kiku squealed excitedly. Her pink hair in pigtails bounced behind her as she ran toward Qallar. Kiku Levae was a pretty ordinary girl to be in this school, the Endowment School.
"No. I think your an idiot to think he's at all cute. He's ugly!" Qallar lied crossly. The boy did look a bit cute, but Qallar wasn't the type of girl that would tell everyone her feelings, like Kiku. Qallar couldn't be compared to ordinary when she used her stranger personality.
The two girls walked down the border school's hallway while a bunch of girls followed the new boy. That boy seemed pretty used to girls acting like this, so he just ignored them all.
"Wow, impressive! He's really good at ignoring people!" Qallar declared. She wished she could do that with Ms. Blabbermouth Kiku. Just to prove my point, Kiku rushed over to Qallar, held onto her arm, jumped up and down excitedly, and talked, and talked, and talked, and talked too fast for anyone to understand her.
Qallar tried ignoring hyperactive Kiku, but she finally exploded. "Geez Kiku, give me a break!" Qallar ran off, luckily leaving Kiku confused, because if she did understand, then she'd be crying, but like I said, she did NOT understand, so she just chased after Qallar, unaware of someone following her.
Kiku ran after her friend, but then became lost in the huge border school. You see, Kiku had come to this school a month ago, so she wasn't very sure where everything was. She didn't know how long Qallar had been here, but she knew she had arrived here before Kiku came. Qallar thought it was strange how Kiku had immediately attatched herself to someone as strange as Qallar.
Finally, Kiku saw a water fountain, so she took a long drink from it. But suddenly, she felt someone tug her hair. Kiku spun around, for she hadn't seen anyone else in the hall.
"Ow!!!!!!" she yelled. The person had rushed behind her before she could see him or her.
The person who was pulling her pigtailed hair pulled harder and asked, "Where did that girl go?"
The voice was right next to Kiku's ear, and the voice was gentle, yet fierce at the time. The voice was a boy's voice for sure. Kiku decided to act innocent and stupid. Kiku, by heart, was passionate to be an actress, and she was very talented at it too.
"What are you talking about? Which girl do you mean?" Kiku asked painfully, while fake tears welled up in her honey-colored eyes, and trickled down her cheek. "There are so many girls, as well as boys, in this border school."
"The girl you were chasing after, stupid!" the voice hissed, and the boy who owned this voice tugged her hair even more.
Kiku shrieked, and sobbed, "I don't know you pervert! I was looking for her, then she got lost!" as you can see, Kiku had a natural talent for acting.
The person let go of Kiku's hair, and ran off before Kiku could even blink. Kiku, just when she was feeling so proud of herself because of her acting skills, realized she was late, which would cause the strict math teacher to give Kiku a detention. So she raced to her homeroom, forgetting all about Qallar . . .
* * *
While Kiku was frantically running to the math class, Qallar was in a large tree beside the enormous border school. Qallar rested her head and daydreamed a little bit. But she had been proved that daydreaming just brought someone's hopes up too high. Many times before, Qallar dreamed that she'd get out of this dreadful academy, and be living with a normal, happy family, but she knew that was impossible, because of her idiotic powers. Qallar was endowed with a shape-shifting power, and as soon as this 'special' academy found out about Qallar's power, they took her away from her family when she was only two or three years old.
Qallar felt that this academy was more like a dangerous dungeon or prison. Because Qallar had never seen, heard from, or remembered her family. She was glad that most of the kids had came here remembering their family. Like Kiku remembered her family, Qallar was a little jealous of her, but she shook her head to try and forget the bad thoughts that were filling it.
Qallar never tried to make friends, in fact people thought that she was planning to kill them all in their sleep because Qallar was so quiet and her power was so, well, powerful!
Qallar turned into a black cat, as if to prove her mysterious background was not to be revealed. Qallar could shape-shift into anything or anyone imagined: a cute little boy to an ugly old man, a fierce lion to an adorable kitten, and even a pencil to a refrigerator! She could turn into anything and/or everything! But Qallar didn't like the power too much because she wasn't able to know her family because of it. Qallar wondered what Kiku's power was, she never told Qallar.
Suddenly, Qallar saw someone running out of the building. It was a boy, in Qallar's class, one that came to the border school when he was five. The boy was mysterious to everyone, although not as mysterious as Qallar, but Qallar thought this boy was very strange. He was emotionless, or mad, never sad, happy, or the other emotions. Actually, the boy acted much like Qallar before she met Kiku.
The boy had spiky, ebony-jet black hair, and rectangular glasses with a black frame. Red eyes glowed from behind his glasses.
The boy looked up the tree, and saw Qallar, Qallar just hissed(because she's a cat). The boy's power was to make a person see their greatest fear for as long as he wanted by making them look into his bright, red eyes for a long time. Quite a fearful power.
The boy glared at the cat-formed Qallar fiercely. Qallar calmly looked away from the eyes, and started attacking birds, because she knew that if you stare into that boy's eyes long enough, you'll pass out from his power.
"Your Qallar Venya, aren't you?!" the boy shouted in a hissing voice. Qallar, still as a cat, did a sad smile. She turned back into a human, and jumped off the high tree.
"Yes I am, sorry, but what's your name again?" Qallar asked sweetly. The boy just glared at her, and tried catching a glance of her eyes, so he could use his power against her.
When Qallar saw that he was trying to look her in the eye, she turned into a bat, who could NOT see well at all, so this made a perfect match for the boy. Qallar could have turned into an object, but an object doesn't have a brain, so it would be hard to think, plus Qallar wanted to know what the boy's intentions were, so she played a game of 'tag' with him.
Qallar screeched in the boy's face, and he kept trying to grab her but Qallar would fly high into the sky, then went down again. The battle of tag continued for about ten minutes, but finally, when the bell rang for break, the boy ran off tiredly. Qallar flew into the tree, and turned into a black cat with golden eyes, and finally fell asleep tiredly. Using so much power at once was so tiring. . .

CHAPTER TWO: ITSUKI
Kiku ran outside and tried finding Qallar. She hadn't been in math class this morning after she had run away. Kiku had been looking forward to seeing the cute, new boy with Qallar, because she was too nervous to approach him alone.
"Qallar!" Kiku shouted, then sat against a tall tree near the academy. She heard a light rustle in the leaves above her head.
Kiku decided to climb up the tree, to see what was up there. But suddenly, a familiar fierce boy whispered into Kiku's ear, "YOU! I knew you were looking for that girl! Dang you! But that girl is dangerous, stay away from her!"
Kiku's big, round, glassy, golden eyes shone brightly as she stared at the boy in shock, she asked, "Wha- what do you m-mean? Who are y-you?" The boy gave a cruel grin. He had spiky black hair, and red eyes that seemed to glow like Rudolph's nose.
He whispered, "That girl could be tricked and used easily, because she'd do anything to see her family, which this border school . . .had . . . killed. . ." the boy started walking away, then he turned back, "By the way, my name is Kurosawa Itsuki. Very nice to meet you . . . Kiku."
The startled girl look back up to the tree, and tried to climb it again, she was very confused about what Itsuki had said. '. . . that girl is dangerous, stay away from her!' '. . .that girl could be tricked easily. . .she'd do anything to see her family. . .' The words whirled themselves in all directions in Kiku's brain.
When Kiku reached a good, supporting branch, she sat down on it and breathed deeply, and closed her eyes. Her body tingled, then when she opened her eyes, she saw her power had worked, she was an adult. Kiku's school uniform was tight around her curvy body, so she jumped out of the tree, and ran to her dorm window. She climbed up to it, and pulled out her mother's clothes that she had given her because of this power.
When Kiku had pulled on the silky, long sleeved, purple shirt, and the long, loose black pants and black boots, she walked down the hallway, and outside again. The recess bell had already rung, and even though Kiku was so tall, she still couldn't find Qallar anywhere.
"Qallar! Where are you?" she shouted. Suddenly a large shadow hovered over Kiku's head. Kiku quickly looked over her head, and saw an eagle, which landed on the ground next to Kiku. The strong, beautiful eagle looked over at Kiku, and suddenly transformed into Qallar!
"Q-Qallar! No way!" Kiku said surprised in her adult voice. Qallar stood there observing Kiku.
"Is that your power Kiku, to transform into any age you want?" Qallar asked surprised. Kiku shyly nodded while blushing.
"Is your power to transform into animals Qallar?" Kiku asked.
"No. I can shape-shift into anyone or anything that's imaginable. Funny, we both have powers to transform." Qallar replied, smiling slightly.
Kiku giggled, "That's true! Funny coincidence! Friends who can both transform. Hey, Qallar, I've been meaning to ask you this question for awhile now: How long have you been at this school?" Kiku asked.
"For as long as I can remember. I can't even remember my own family. Not at all." Qallar replied honestly. Kiku felt like crying, no matter Qallar was always so gloomy! Qallar sighed, and asked, "Kiku, what's a family like?"
This question startled Kiku, she said, "A family, a good one, helps you out when your in trouble, and they always fill your heart with love, and I think the most important person in the family is the mother. Because she always treats her children tenderly, and . . . oh Qallar! You can't even remember your family?! I'm so sorry!" Kiku said with tears in her eyes, and she was clinging onto Qallar.
Qallar was surprised that Kiku was acting like this. "Silly Kiku. I do have a family." Qallar said lifting Kiku's tear-stained face off her shoulder, and moved her doft, silky pink hair away from face.
"I know, but you can't remember them!" Kiku wailed.
"How can I not remember the girl standing right in front of me? Kiku, your my family, because you care about me, and you help me out, and treat me tenderly, just like a family does. Even though we're not blood-related, we are still family Kiku." Qallar said gingerly, brushing Kiku's hair out of her face again.
Then, Kiku suddenly got shorter, until she was the same height she was before she had transformed into an adult. Both girls laughed. Kiku rolled on the grass, bursting out laughing. Qallar laughed until she cried.
"I forgot I was an adult!" Kiku said laughing hysterically. "I guess I was kinda like a mother, huh Qallar?"
"Yeah! You're a great mother Kiku! Ha ha!" Qallar said laughing even more. She hugged Kiku, and Kiku giggled with glee. Then, she remembered what Itsuki had said. ' . . .because she'd do anything to see her family, which this border school . . .had . . .killed . . .'
Kiku ripped away from Qallar's arms, and yelled, "Q-Qallar, Itsuki, he told me that . . .that, this border school killed your family when they took you!"
Qallar looked at Kiku with her eyes full of curiosity and fear, as if she couldn't believe what she had heard, "Wh-what!? Are you lying to me?!
They said that if I obeyed them . . .that they'd let me see my family again! YOU LIAR!" Qallar yelled accusingly, then she transformed into an eagle once more, and flew to her dorm window.
' That girl could be tricked and used easily, because she'd do anything to see her family. . .' Kiku remembered what Itsuki had said. She sat down in the patch of grass, and cried silently under the huge tree, and silently fell asleep...

CHAPTER THREE: THE SATO TWINS
Qallar sat in her bed, feeling betrayed and confused. Her long golden hair lay sprawled around her. Her eyes burned as tears trickled down her red cheeks. 'Was Kiku lying? Or. . .no! It can't be the truth', Qallar thought desperately.
Suddenly, Qallar heard a knock at the door. Qallar washed her face off with water, dried it off, ran to the door, and opened it. Two girls with purple hair and golden eyes were at the door. They looked just like each other, except each had completely different fashion choices.
The girl with straight, medium, purple, hair that was on the left of the doorway had a dark purple T-shirt, a pair of medium purple and black striped gloves, a short black skirt, purple and black leggings underneath the skirt, and long black boots. She had an emotionless expression on her face as she starred at Qallar.
The other girl on the right with wavy, long, purple hair had a lavender no-sleeved-shirt with a heart on it, a short pink skirt, long light-pink socks that came to her knees, and shiny black shoes on. She also had a pink ribbon in her hair. She smiled warmly while grabbing the other girl's hand, which the other girl yanked away.
"Um, very sorry to intrude, but, uh, do you know where the unused music room is? My twin sister, Sato Suzuki, and I, Sato Satomi, are trying to find it, but this school is so big, and it's almost impossible to find it!" the girl on the right said, her bow became undone, and it dropped to the floor.
Qallar decided to pick on this idiotic girl, so she squashed the bow under her foot. Then she picked up the dirty bow, and put it high over her head.
Satomi cried out, "Wah- That wasn't very kind! Gimme! Oi! Gimme!" the two girls were shorter than most girls, so Qallar had advantage over them, or so she thought, because suddenly, Suzuki(the other twin that was kinda emo) crouched under Qallar, then lifted her up. And now, Qallar was on Suzuki's shoulders!
Qallar immediately let go of the ribbon, but she hadn't tried. Qallar couldn't move a muscle, she just sat on Suzuki's shoulders calmly. Then her body started moving on its own, and she stood up on Suzuki's shoulders. Satomi laughed. She had replaced the ribbon, and was now watching Qallar balance on her sister's shoulders. Suddenly, Qallar jumped off Suzuki's shoulders, heading face-down into the hallway ground! Bang! Without even controlling herself, she did a cartwheel into the wall.
The twins laughed out loud hysterically, and Satomi even rolled on the floor laughing *Note:Isn't that Lol and Rofl?* Suzuki took a hold of herself easier than Satomi, and she shot a glare at Qallar, who was dumbstruck sitting against the wall. 'Satomi and Kiku would get along very well.' she thought to herself, then she remembered that she was angry at Kiku and scowled at the twins. They scowled back.
"I do know where that forgotten, unused music room is," Qallar said dusting herself off, "but even if I told you, they won't allow children to go in." she glared at the twins and then walked to her dorm door. Her bright blue eyes met with Suzuki's golden eyes, and they both gave an unpleasant atmosphere as they glared at each other for what it seemed hours.
Finally, the scary silence was broken by the sound of footsteps at the stairs and sobs from down there too. A girl bumped into Qallar, and as soon as Qallar saw the red, pigtailed hair, she started chasing after the girl. Kiku had her face in her arms as she ran with violent sobs. What happened!? . . .

CHAPTER FOUR: ILLUSIONS
Qallar grabbed onto Kiku's shoulder when she reached the door to her room. Kiku tried jerking away, but Qallar held on sternly, but tenderly. Finally, Kiku gave up, and collapsed to the floor with violent sobs. Qallar felt guilty, 'Is she crying because I was mad at her?'
"Kiku, I'm really sorry, I just don't know how I can believe that story, because they promised me that. . ." Suddenly, Qallar's eyes met with a pair of red, gleaming eyes. The eyes glared at her in such a way, that Qallar couldn't think, nor could she move her eyes away. It was Kurosawa Itsuki. The same boy that had tugged onto Kiku's hair, told Kiku frightening things, that were, unfortunately true, and fought with Qallar as a bat. But now, he had terrible intentions on Qallar. He locked his eyes onto Qallar's eyes, and Qallar couldn't look away without not seeing his fierce, red, glaring eyes.
The Sato twins ran over to the scene. They stood in between Qallar and Itsuki. Satomi looked at Itsuki, then up at her twin sister, wondering what in the world was happening. But Suzuki wasn't looking at her sister, she was concentrating.
Concentrating on Itsuki. Satomi knew at once what her sister was doing. Satomi followed suit immediately, but concentrated on Qallar instead of Itsuki.
Kiku looked up at Qallar to see what had interrupted her. Qallar's eyes looked like they were in some kind of trance.
Kiku grabbed Qallar, trying to make her pay attention to her. Then, Kiku looked across the hallway, and
didn't notice the Sato twins, but him. Kiku looked back at Qallar's eyes, and saw that they were fixed on his. 'Itsuki. . . followed me?' Kiku thought to herself. . .
* * *
A Few Minutes Ago
While Qallar was meeting the Sato twins, Kiku was walking up to her dorm sadly. She was sad that Qallar thought she lying, but she was going to her room to think. But right before she got to the bottom of the staircase, that boy was walking down with a lion's expression on his face. He glared at Kiku, and yelled angrily, "Get out of my way girl!"
Kiku was scared, but she tried standing her ground. But, soon, Itsuki screamed, glaring at Kiku, "UGH! I don't have time for your silly games!" then, all of a sudden, it seemed as if his bright red eyes were glowing, and he said in a gentle, hushed voice, "Look into my eyes, and trust me." Kiku's whole body shivered. Kiku closed her eyes tightly, and thought to herself 'Turn into a dumb baby that doesn't understand what people say, before something bad happens!'
But she realized that terrible things might happen to her if she was a helpless baby!
Kiku ran away, covering her eyes, not daring to open her golden eyes. But Itsuki grabbed her shoulders, gripping them unmercifully. "Look into my eye," he once more, in that hushed whisper, "and trust me." Kiku couldn't help but listen.
Her bright golden eyes stared into those red eyes, that now seemed to glow. Ever so slowly, Kiku couldn't look away from those bright red eyes, and when she DID look away, it was like when you stare at a bright light for a long time, and you see it everywhere else, except when Kiku looked into Itsuki's eyes, and then looked away, they bright light of his eyes never faded away, and Kiku always returned to the real eyes. Kiku couldn't close her eyes, she couldn't even blink, and her eyes hurt. More and more, Itsuki's eyes grew brighter and brighter, so bright, that Kiku thought that she'd become blind.
Finally, Kiku accidentally looked deep into Itsuki's eyes, and she saw what Itsuki wanted her to see; her worst fear.
Kiku was on a cold, icy ground, that was full of very old ashes. The world, other than the floor, and a dead tree, was black. It seemed like there was no sky at all. Kiku noticed somebody dressed in a long, black dress that was torn at the edges, and was ghostly looking, was walking towards her. Kiku tried standing up, but it was difficult, for her whole body was numb. The figure came closer, and Kiku saw her legs were trembling. 'What's wrong with me?' she thought. The person in the long, torn, black dress was only a few feet from Kiku, and Kiku saw a black hat with a black veil was covering her face. When the strange person was right in front of Kiku, she stopped. Kiku's heart was beating fiercely, and it was her heart and her breath that seemed to make so much noise in this dead world. The figure dressed in black removed her hat. She was a young, beautiful woman, with bright-blue eyes, and wavy, brown hair that was very long.
The woman reached out her pale, hand that was slowly becoming bony, and said in a sweet, but sad voice, "Please save her. Save my daughter! Please, I love her so much!" The woman's bright-blue eyes reminded Kiku of Qallar's eyes. The person faded away, turning into smoke. Then, when the beautiful woman disappeared, gravestones filled the ashy wasteland, and all of them said Venya for the last name. Qallar appeared, also in a black, torn dress, and she patted Kiku on the head, her hand felt like ice, and she gave such a sad smile. Qallar's eyes filled up with tears, and
Kiku wiped the icy tears away, and Qallar turned to smoke, and when all of the smoke was gone, Kiku saw a gravestone in front of her. On it, it said, "Qallar Venya" there was no years, but in a messy scrawl underneath the name, there were the words, "Our beloved sister and best-friend" Kiku found herself mourning, and when she opened her eyes, she was back in the hallway.
Kiku fell to the floor when Itsuki let her go, both with his hands gripping onto her shoulders, and with his eyes. Kiku realized she was trembling, and sobbing loudly. Kiku stood up more quickly than Itsuki thought she would though, Kiku ran up the stairs, slamming her feet down, and wailing loudly. Kiku ran up the stairs, almost falling many times. Itsuki was surprised, nobody had got themselves in control after such a terrible trance before! And Itsuki used so much power on Kiku.
And, when Kiku reached the stairs, as you know, Qallar chased after her, to help her, but she herself, got stuck into Itsuki's trance, about to see her worst fear; that Kiku had spoken the truth, and that her family was killed by THEM . . .
***
CHAPTER FIVE: SAFE FOR NOW
Satomi concentrated as hard as she could on Qallar, making a nice illusion for Qallar to see, even though Satomi was still a little mad at Qallar, but she, as well as Suzuki, had heard of the boy who was staring at her, he was very dangerous.
Itsuki was putting all his energy into Qallar, giving the most terrible fear inside her, just enough to make her pass out.
Suzuki was having trouble controlling the boy, he wouldn't ever look at her, in fact it seemed that he didn't notice
Suzuki's concentration. Suzuki walked over to Itsuki, to see if he would notice, he didn't. She touched him, his concentration was completely on Qallar.
Kiku looked at Suzuki, wondering who was she and what she was doing. Suddenly Itsuki turned around, and started doing a weird kind of dance. Suzuki was smiling. Satomi was putting the happiest images in Qallar's mind.
Qallar was out of the trance, and was breathing hard, and when she looked around, she was on a hot, sandy seashore. The sand was pure white and was soft. There was a bright blue ocean, with sparkling, light blue diamonds disappearing with each crash of a wave. The bright-blue sky was filled with soft whisks of pure, snow-white clouds that looked as if they had been carefully painted on the sky. The sun shone brightly, beating down on the world Qallar was in. But soon, the illusion was broken by Kiku. Qallar opened her eyes, and saw that she was really on the hallway floor, still next to Kiku's door, with Kiku clinging onto her, crying. The hallway was dark, the last time Qallar had looked at a clock was in her dorm-room, and, at the time, it was five 'o clock PM. Qallar held onto Kiku, and Kiku looked up and smiled happily.
Suzuki made Itsuki walk into a crowded closet, and get into the most uncomfortable position, then she closed the door, locked it, and smiled. Satomi gave her sister a hug. Then she turned to Qallar, so did Suzuki, and small, confused smiles appeared on their faces. Kiku helped Qallar up, and said, "Thank you. I'll take care of Qallar from here." Then she went into her dorm-room.
When they got into Kiku's bedroom, Kiku had Qallar sit on her bed. "Are you alright Qallar?" Kiku asked, worried. Kiku's pink hair was out of their pigtails, so her medium-length, red hair was down, and very messy.
"Of course, how about you Kiku?" Qallar asked, patting Kiku on the head gingerly, and, for the first time for a long time, smiled.
"I'm fine. But Qallar, why did Itsuki do that? Why does he hate you so much?" Kiku asked. She sat next to Qallar on the bed with green sheets on it.
"I'm not really sure. Kiku, are you sure about THEM killing my whole family though?"
"Well, Itsuki said that, so I'm not very sure."
"Okay. Good. I'm sleeping with you tonight, alright?" Qallar said, already getting under the covers.
"Mm-hm." Kiku yawned, and snuggled under the bed-sheets with Qallar. Both the girls fell asleep quickly, dreaming only of each other. . .
