There's really not much for me to review here anymore.
All the nit-picking has happened already, I just wanted to tell you that I really liked this piece (*goes to find the other chapters*). I couldn't just not review it!
Love it!

Hey Tanya! Thanks for entering my contest! Here's your thanks-for-entering review. ;)

I only skimmed some of the previous reviews (you have a lot there! ;)), so pardon me if I say something that's already been said.
Somehow, he seemed less fierce being two-toned that way. I just hoped my clients didn’t see it that way.

1.I’d cut “that way” from the first sentence. Something about “that way” being repeated sounds weird and the first sentence doesn’t really need that anyways.
2.Clients also sounds odd, like she’s running some underground business. :P Maybe customers would be better?

At the moment he was seated with his ears pricked and his head cocked as he surveyed the store.

I’d cut “At the moment” as it isn’t really necessary. It’s understood that this observation is at the moment, and doesn’t really need to be said. Word clutter, almost. ;)

As soon as our shift ended, I could touch him but Riley was out the door at seven o’clock on the dot.

Cut the comma from where it is and stick it in before “but Riley”. The pause with the comma where it is is awkward and breaks it up strangely. Read it out loud and pause where the comma is now and you’ll see what I mean. Haha ;)

Funny thing was, Riley was actually holding my stare. Huh, weird.

“Huh, weird.” Should be in italics if it’s her thoughts.

I let the door close and caught sight of my weary-looking eyes. There were dark bags under my eyes; there was only so much my glasses could hide.

Change “my eyes” in the second sentence to “them”. Restating “eyes” sounds weird. Also, consider throwing in some other description here. “pale” in the next sentence is good, but maybe elaborate on “sickly”? What in particular about her looks sickly? Is her hair dull, her face flushed? This is a good time to work in some light description of your character without it being a dump.

I wondered. This is what a vampire must feel like.

“This” should be in italics. Though that probably comes from having to find everything to italicize when posting on YWS. ;)

I studied his eyes carefully and suddenly noticed his pupils were hugely dilated. Oh my god, he was on something! What kind of drugs had he taken? Had something in his system prompted him to act so out of character?

It would be interesting to pinpoint a certain drug he could be on (you don’t have to actually say it in the story) and figure out what effects being on it has. Chances are there would be noticeable signs that he would have that would add to Shanna’s feelings of suspicion. Also, she seems pretty okay with the whole situation, which is odd. I mean, she knows this guy, he's some form of a friend to her, she trusted him, and now he's gone crazy. I don't know about you, but I'd be freaking out ;)

I liked this edit of the first chapter. It wasn't significantly different from the first, though from what I remember this version seems to be trimmed and polished from the last version which is exactly what revision seeks to do. The plot/content side of things is looking good, and I only nit-picked more construction things. That stuff all comes with time and a good editor, anyways. ;)

I don't have much else to say, other than, again, lovely chapter. Can't wait to see how the rest of it comes during editing! Good luck! Keep writing!

And thanks again for entering :)

Holy crap. This was super intense. I was seriously dreading getting to the end, just because my stomach was in knots, lol.

Okay, first a couple of things...

I suddenly realised that while I’d permitted my thoughts to wander, I’d been staring at Riley, the fridge door wide open. Funny thing was, Riley was actually holding my stare. Huh, weird.

This line feels a little funny and out of place... I don't quite like it.

This is what a vampire must feel like.

The first word isn't italicized here when it probably should be... just so you know!

Eric liked to talk and buy lottery tickets, stayed around, talked and scratched.

Scratched? What did he scratch? I am assuming Riley, but isn't that not allowed? Like, touching the guard dog when he was on duty, especially for a stranger? Just a thought.

Anyway, I had figured out the ending before it ended, but that doesn't make it bad. Truthfully, it was really tense and I rather hated the story because I sympathized with the characters, and yet... well... Eric just was stupid and high and everything and it wasn't going to work out. I am glad Shanna and Riley are okay. <3

And now I am wondering about the rest of the story... if it is going to be this intense, I will probably wet myself. XD
