It was his fault.
All he could do was stand there, two bodies side by side. Two girls, reaching the blossoming age of 16, now laid there, pale and devoid of life. They look so peaceful, they said. Too bad those people never made eye contact with them. They would see there is no peace in their eyes. The pain he could see, the pain he had caused, resonated in their silently fading eyes.
No one knew.
His hands were stained crimson, and as the heavy moon glared at him with the familiar red color, he was reminded of it. No one could see it, but he knew it was there. This blood was not his, not all of it. His whole body was drenched with the evil liquid, but no one saw it. It was not his body that was bleeding, but his soul. And that of the two lying in front of him.
Not even they knew.
They stood there with him, mourning over their loss. Their loss. Those words stayed in his mind. What he did not know was why. Was this not his loss as well? Yet he knew it was his fault, so how could it be loss? Accidents were purpose being fulfilled by the soul.
And his soul was tainted.
Heart and soul separated in him, he could neither cry nor smile. He was twisted, a demon, something that should not exist. The scar reminded him. The bitten flesh on his face let everyone know. It dripped its scarlet tears, still open and fresh. A forever reminder of his sins.
And now theirs was too.
The thin piercing on their necks was covered in red velvet, hiding the real reason for their sleep of death. They had received a curse of eternal suffering. They would be back, vexed to wander the darkened streets of hell on earth.
For once in his existence, he wished that there were some way to eliminate him, completely. Complete destruction of heart, mind, soul, and body. If he had never existed, they would not have to suffer…
He had told himself he would never let it happen. Not to them. He thought he could make it work this time. And now it was just like the others.
And it was his fault.
So he had only one choice. He had to disappear. Instead of hurting others, he would run. Was it cowardice or concern? No matter, he would go away, beneath the shadows…
