The last thing you remembered was falling asleep last night.. But when you opened your eyes, you found yourself in an entirely new world.
You brush off leaves from your clothes as you stand up. You look up to see a ginormous castle in the distance. You hear sounds of laughter and chatter, it's clear that there is some form of gathering going on.. You walk into the crowd, seeing all kinds of.. Creatures? No, people..
You see people that look human but with different features. Some have wings, some have horns, some have tails, some have multiple arms, some are robotic! But they all represent something.. Important.
You hear gasps from the crowd, people pointing towards the staircase. You follow their gazes to see a man and a woman. They looked similar, likely siblings. The man is dressed in lighter clothing while the woman is dressed in darker clothing. Though something about the two you couldn't shake off was their golden eyes. Their eyes glowed in the darkness, illuminating in the reflection of the small puddles on the ground. They were beautiful.
Beside them you notice a Jester. Or perhaps it noticed you first. It's been watching you since you entered the room.. You wondered who this was and why they were staring at you. Honestly, what a creep.
But then a voice appeared in your mind.. One that was not your own.
"How long can you chase a dream until it becomes a nightmare?"
You feel your chest pounding and you return your gaze to the siblings. That's when you realize they are staring right at you. You look around and realize that everyone around you has suddenly stepped away from you. Leaving you alone in the center of the crowd.
The woman walks down the staircase and over towards you. She pauses for a moment before taking your hands in her own.
"It seems we have a new dreamer... I personally would like to welcome you to The Mystic Emirate."
The woman smiled at you.
Even though your thoughts were running wild, you never spoke a word. You stayed silent and only nodded to what she had said.
Her presence was oddly comforting. You couldn't really explain why..
"Seems we will have to explain to our newest dreamer about everything."
Both you and the woman looked up to see the man who had suddenly appeared beside of you.
"Well then.. Let us show you everything.."
Reflections
Each person in The Mystic Emirate is a dreamer. All of these dreamers are people who one day had fallen asleep and never woken back up. After a certain amount of time their body in the human realm will dissolve and they will be entirely trapped in their dreams. Those siblings you met were the rulers of The Mystic Emirate. Eventually you learn that there are more kingdoms like theirs, but theirs is the most free of them all. So you figured it best to stay around. All of these dreamers have a certain kind of reflection that outlooks their life. It is told by an oracle that you visit when dreamers first arrive. It tells you your fate. There is no escaping that fate. So which one are you?
You may choose your own fate when creating your character(s). If later we come up with a specific system then we can edit things here.
