An experimental virus is released when the test subjects escape...leading to a night of massacre and blood. The virus spreads, infecting hundreds, who mutate into vicious "virals." Virtually indestructible, extremely powerful, and filled with bloodlust, they ravage the North American continent. The U.S. government creates three Compounds, equipped with the only technology known to keep the virals at bay. Soon, the only surviving members of the human race on the North American continent live in these Compounds, with the unimaginable task of figuring out how to destroy the viral armies.
