In the United States, all maps always show the boundaries of the 50 states as you'd expect. I'm wondering, do maps and globes all over show the boundaries of the states? From every map I've ever seen, the answer seems to be yes, but most (not all) of those maps were made for an American audience.

Not here in Canada unless you look for specific US maps. Most of the maps are either Canada and the US is in grey and they show the 49th parallel which divides Canada and the US. On the world map, they don't show states of the US, or provinces and territories in Canada.

Depends on the size of the map, and where the map is printed.

In terms of an atlas or whatnot? The state lines might be printed.

But in other kids of media, probably not. They usually highlight major cities as per the norm, but don't necessarily highlight state lines, unless it's for a specific reason.

That's kinda odd, Kamas. Nearly every map here shows the Canadian provinces.

Thanks guys. It's something I've always wondered about.

Nope.
Unless you ask for specific North America-Political maps.

But an Atlas/ Comprehensive Map list does show them.

... My map does.

In fact, when I'm on YWS, I frequently get up to check my map to see where certain states are (I have a big world map in my room, it matches my colour scheme).
