Is there a rule that you can only have one of your recent works in the recent works section? Like if you post two with only a few minutes apart, only the more recent one will show up?

Not as far as I'm aware - when the forums were split recently (into Short Stories + Novels), the new novel sections didn't carry the on the technical rules from their previous forums, so they don't show up in recent works (as in, the recent works section doesn't recognise that they exist). But that'll probably change in the future when Nate finishes it off.
