uhm, it's kind of impossible to critique, as it's candid and not artistic at all. i'm not sure why you posted this, as one can't really comment on it. it's also almost a year old, if the time stamp is correct... this is odd.

I think this is photography. I think the effect is lost in the massive amount of sponge bob color and the date stamp. If it were in black and white it would have a greater effect I think. The monochromatic scheme to black and white photography allows the viewer to see the emotion of the subject as opposed to being distrcted by the colors of and around the subject.

A few of you seem awfully narrow minded as to what photography is. I guess it's all in the beholder though.

Like the toehrs it is a cute picture but it is not very artistic at all.

Do you have any computer editing programmes such as Photoshop? If you do you could really play around with this image, start off by getting rid of the time date stamp at the bottom as that really does distract away from the image, and maybe dull the background carpet and enchance the clothing colours, it would make it look much more arty and overall better photo :)

I find that the more pictures you take the better you get, so keep snapping!

This is photography, but it's not the best example of it - I agree with Adam that the date stamp and everything takes away from the photography/art bit of it. Try getting a digital camera and take composition into consideration when taking the picture - it can be candid, but try to be artfully candid. This is a good first attempt though - it is cute, and artful in some ways. Children are always awesome photography subjects, because they're so expressive.

I say post up some more photographs. :)
