Photos From the Dreaming Spires

Here are a series of photos I took while on a trip to Oxford, UK. It was an amazing experience, and I've got some great photos!


Ceilings at Christ Church.


The Bodelian (spelling?) Library. What an amazing sky, right?


One of my favorites, this time near the Radcliffe Camera. Again, fantastic contrast.

I love the buildings at Oxford, they're full of fascinating architecture and great momuments. The first photo isn't my favourite: It's quite a generic picture to have taken but I really like the angles and subjects you've chosen for the remaining four. I thought the door in particular was an interesting shot; you have really managed to capture the texture of it well.
Keep using that camera!

Number one: I really like this shot and I like the fact that you captured one of the pole thing (I have no idea what they are but I know what I mean xD )in the picture and not just the ceiling on its own, I don’t think it would of looked as nice.

Number two: I like the angle you took this!

Number three: ^ Same point really ^

Number four: This one is my favourite one out of the others I like how you have really focused on the design and texture of the door Well done.

Number five: This one has got to be my least favourite out of them all, it just doesn’t do anything for me.

Overall these are all really good photos and I really enjoyed looking at them

First off, what I like about these photographs is that you aren't afraid to use a different and less conventional angle and sometimes this makes your photos more interesting. So props for that!

1 - I really like the composition of this one and how you have the pillar in the bottom right corner and the designs that kind of fan out from that. The only thing that distracts my eye is that I think some of the photo is slightly out of focus, mainly near the top and like I say, it's a little distracting to the eye. But other than that...good job!

2 - Love the angle here, the colour and the light. If I were to be nit-picky I would maybe wonder if the photo would've looked better without the corner of the building to the left of the frame but maybe that gives the photo a little more depth. I don't know. I usually take a few shots from different angles and maybe you did and decided this was the best!

3 - Again good angle, good colour and good light. Again if I am to be picky I would maybe have wanted to see the right corner of the building to see what that would look like rather than having that bit of deadspace to the left. But then again maybe you need that deadspace to balance the photo.

4 - This one is pretty good. Again I like the angle but it looks a little washed out to me. Perhaps you could have a fiddle with it in some sort of photo editing software but if you do that then try not to take it too far.

5 - I would say this is probably my least favourite of the bunch. I like the focus and depth of field you have here is good I just don't like the subject or at least how the subject is framed. So you have the subject in the left corner of the frame, which kind of leads your eye eventually to the back...the thing is the only thing in the back is a drain pipe and a wall. So the composition is kind of off here as where you are leading the eye isn't quite working if you understand what I mean.

Good photos and again keep up the interesting angles!

I love the angles you took the pictures from they made the pictures look special and different from others you see, which are normal taken straight on instead of from an angle. And i'm very glad you haven't done that! My favourites are defo the last ones because alot of the time if you took a picture of these sorts of things they wouldn't look very good but the lighting, angle and the objects themselves made the pictures BRILLIANT!!!

*jumps up and down* I love! old buildings and you did an amazing job with these pictures.
*Photo one,is just amazing the way you captured the patern on the ceiling of the building and manage to still bring out colour and the detail of that patern fascinates me,to me this photo feels so alive and i love that feeling like i can experience it through looking at the photo.
*photo 2, i love photo 2 even more the dull brown colour of the building and then the bright blue colour of the sky it really brings out the building more and since you can't see clouds in the sky but in the reflection of the windows i think thats great, i always find it hard to get the reflection of clouds against windows (just a small tip,when you take photos of architecture try your best to bring out the form and the lines of the building even if you have to take it from different angles)but you did a great job with that anyway
*photo 3,4 and 5 is amazing i love the door in detail and it brings out the fine wood,i love detail and love the way you brought that out
