I played around with the colors and came up with this. To me, it looks...futuristic? And a bit creepy.

Some more Photoshopping with a little ballerina I had.

That's my grandpa walking out into the great beyond. :) I sharpened the image and did the whole black and white thing.

We found an abandoned building while on one of our trips out into the desert. It looked like the perfect setting for one of my nightmares. So, I played up the shadows and made the picture black and white again.

Hey Embee!

First off, I just want to say that I really liked all of these. The angles of each is unique and not just a head-on shot, which can get rather boring and repetitive after awhile, yes? But you didn't do that, which I applaud you for.

First Picture: I love the framing on this one. It's taken from a car window? Or a window in general? Either way, it works. My only concern with it would be to make the framing equal on both sides, so perhaps crop the right side a little to match up with the left. The colors are awesome, and I love the purple tree and grass. I agree, it does make it seem a bit futuristic.

Second Picture: It seems very grainy. I'm not sure if it's the effect you were going for, but it's not working for me that much. Not to say it's a bad picture! Just try messing with the clarity and maybe adjust the contrast? I'm not entirely familiar with photoshop, or at least the more recent versions, so I'm not sure how much it's changed. I do like the faded coloring and the shadow in the background. :)

Third Picture: My favorite out of the group. The black and white is an awesome touch, and the contrast between the lights and darks is well done. The horizon line isn't in the middle of the photo, either, which is something that works in your favor. My only thing with this one (and I might be being a little picky here) is that your subject is in the direct center of your photo. Had you placed your grandfather to one side or the other I think it might have been a stronger picture, but as it is right now it's not that big of a deal. I do very much like this one though.

Fourth Picture: Very creepy, and very cool. Again, the black and white was a great touch, and the shadows help strengthen the picture. I really don't have anything negative about this one, except maybe you could have cropped out the bright white wall on the left. Otherwise, I liked this one.

Awesome photos! I hope to see more from you soon! These were great!

Actually... the first one really reminds me of Avatar, which, of course, makes me love it even more! Would you mind if i save that picture to my docs and have it as a screeny? It's just fab!
Your photography is just great! i love the last one... so creepy. :D The black and white effects look so professional, amazing! The little ballerina, well i wish that i could see it more clearly. but i think it looks ok. It just seems a bit too bright.

anyway these are great!
well done!

Thank you guys so much for your positive feedback! And yes, MysticalBlood, you can save the first one. I agree that the ballerina is one: too grainy and two: too bright. I'll fix it up when I can. Thanks again!

HEy Embee..these all are great specially the perspective on the one with your grandpa in it. I didn't much like the ballerina one,I found the angle very dull. The first one was also fabulous.

Embee!

1: Wow, I actually really like this one, and how it's taken from inside a car. Futuristic indeed. (:

2: Cute, but the ballerina blends in too much with the wall behind it. Maybe play with the contrast in this picture a teeny bit more. It's good that you put the ballerina on a black book (or something like it); I like that.

3: I like the creepyish dark bushes (?) on the side.

4: Haha, very nice, very creepy. It's cool how only half the windows are in the door.

Hope I helped! Keep up the good work-

1st pic: i like the tree but the car window kind pulls away from it.
2nd : yes the balletrina looks a bit grainy but tell the truth i like it a lot it gives it kind of an old rustic feeling and it made me feel like it was part of a memory that maybe i had forgotten and needed to remember oooh *shiver* i like that one
3rd: i like this one a lot because so many times people will think "ooh look at that landscape it so pretty i'm gonna take a picture " and then they do and thats all it is, just a picture of a mountain, but you put your grandpa in this one and made it special by doing so. good work.
4th: ok this one is possibly one of my favorites cause like you said it remind you of something from a nightmare so it has that mysterious side to it, but something also comes to mind and it is this: the door to opportunity may look scary and dark and daunting but it's still opportunity and you will never know what you might have missed if you never look.

good job Honey

oh and one more thing about the last one
have you ever tried black and whiting a picture and then take an object (the door it's self for example) and just bringing out a little bit of the color in that object? i don't know how to do it my self but I've seen it in other pics and it looks amazing, anyway just a thought .

Hi Embee!

These are really really nice!

First one: You need to straighten out the horizon just an itty bit. Ever so little so it's straight and doesn't cut off at a strange angle. Otherwise you have an interesting shot. I'm not sure I'm fond of the car door, it seems like a shot from a car you edited, it doesn't serve for framing, or good framing to say. I think you would of been better outside for that shot. The colour choice is really interesting though :)

Second one: Overall, this shot has some really good potential, but it's a little bit too grainy. If you removed some of the graininess, downed the saturation, and upped the contrast I think this could be a really great shot. The angle isn't very original though, you usually want to level yourself with small objects that are your main focus, makes them more life like

Third one: Favourite one by far, you've balance out the light and dark really well. The horizon is really nicely placed and the whole concept of the photo is lovely, this one is a keeper! :)

Fourth one: This one too is very good. The only problem is that you've over exposed some of the white walls. So it's too bright there and draws our eye away from your main focus. You have to be careful when editing, keep the light as natural as possible.

Great stuff, thank you!
