5 Reasons why people who don't make "5 Reasons why somethingsomething are better than everyone else" threads are better than everyone else. Nate's idea. But I wanna do one. The name was too long to fit in the subject box.

1. They don't have to worry about fighting over the web with other YWSers.
It's never fun to fight friends (even if they aren't your friends). You may end up with a grudge against them and that would hurt your friendship. Words that you don't mean could be thrown out and you can't take those back, you know.

2. More time to do other things besides yell on the Internet.
They go outside and lounge in the sun, read a good book, write something they've been putting aside, ride a bike, talk to friends, peel a banana. Anything. But if they don't feel like that, review on YWS, stalk/talk to other YWSers. Watch stuff on YouTube or pop virtual bubble wrap!

3. More time on their hands.
It may seem like 2 but it's not. Time is of the essence when it comes to life. Would you like it if some guy ran into your house with a gun, pointed it at you and shot, and your last action was posting a '5 reasons why blah blah is better than bleep bloop' thread? That seems... unrealistic seeing as to any person would want to save their life or something in stead of pressing "post". But it was all I could come up with.

4. You don't look like you're bashing.
I've started to take an interest in painting. I suck a drawing. If I posted a thread saying stuff about painting being more fun and creative than drawing I seem mean and bashing. People who like to draw would be at my heels and pretty mad. I'd look like a troll.

5. No bad reputation.
If no one forgets that I called drawing dumb and uncreative (I don't think that, just using an example) then people will peg me as a troll and never let it go. It's best not to post those because you could very well be hated.

I had seen those top *insert number* threads and read them all. I don't think I "liked" any of them. I got those points across. Sorry I stole it, Nate! Maybe you would've explained things better. Don't hurt, flame, or hate me. Please!
Me: I'm scared to press submit...
Me #2: JUST DO IT!
Me: But-
Me #2: Oh, you wimp! *clicks submit*
Me: NOOOO!!

You're new? Great seas! Why haven't you gone to the Buddy System yet?

You're dealing with writers. The words "normal" and "usual occurrence" do not compute.

Is it weird that I made a topic like this and liked this? Not to mention "liked" this? xD

In my defense though, I wrote and posted that around midnight, when I couldn't sleep. And as an attempt to counter the other posts, but this did a much better job! Kudos!

I agree with you one hundred percent! Arguing via the internet makes me feel genuinely depressed :( .
I don't think anyone likes those ping-pong arguments where no one can win and everyone leaves feeling scarred.
I've had some of those on YouTube, arguing about whether God exists or not.
Not a happy experience.
And then when I decide this is definitely NOT fun and exit the argument, people think I'm giving in.
I am done with that! No more shall I indulge in such pointless competitive arguments!

But fools are those who fear it.

I agree! And I love the Me and Me #2, because I often feel like that when I'm having a conversation with myself...also when I'm writing story notes I have a tendency to write them in the plural, as in "also, we want to have a magic dolphin in this story, but we don't really know what being a magic dolphin entails yet..."

^_^

~Blue

P.S. Actually, I DO have a story with a magic dolphin in it...any suggestions for the dolphin's magicalness?

I'm so happy you wrote this. If only everyone on the internet had as much reason. :P

Isn't this sort of a contradition? i mean, you are making a post about why people who don't claim certain people are better than others...

or am I the only one that noticed?

Soo your answer is to be smug and stick your nose up to people who decide to debate and try to understand other opinions that might not be readily available where they live? This kind of notion is far too naive to be taken seriously. I debate because I enjoy it; I realize that people are not simple and merely the first impression I think they are. The level of pretentiousness here is by far greater than any internet debate. It should be fairly obvious drama for the sake of drama is pointless; debate across the internet is not.

It is much, much safer to debate on the Internet than it is in real life as people take things very seriously there, and they are generally not nice if you cannot debate in an orderly fashion. Increasingly I am seeing a complete aversion to debate and intellectual query in the general population of the world today, this is frightening. Where is the critical thinking going? Why is there such resentment?

So, no. You are not better. You're just naive; if the intention of this thread was towards general drama...yeah no, then you're playing semantics. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you.

No, I am not better than anyone. I just honestly thought it would be fun to make this thread. And I also don't care for internet wars. I never think I'm ever better than anyone.
