Nephthys says...

Here is a synopsis of episode 1:

Gwendolyn Strom is a librarian living in Stockholm, Sweden with her aunt and uncle in 1950. Gwendolyn gets engaged to marry Noah Andersen, an awkward but gentlemanly shoe salesman. Unfortunately for Gwendolyn, she is brought to Asgard (the city of the Norse gods), by Loki, in order to pretend to be Freya, a goddess who disappeared under mysterious circumstances many years before. Gwendolyn makes a bet with Loki that if she still wants to leave at the end of one week, he will take her back home.

Or you can just read episode 1 HERE :)

Also, I've made a short TRAILER for the show. It's not exactly professional quality, but it should give you an idea of what I'm going for visually.

Spoiler! :
EXT. OUTSIDE THE STROM FAMILY HOUSE. DAY.

It's 1950.

The winter sun shines above the red-brick semi. A motorcar goes past. NOAH walks down the street, humming out of tune.

He walks up to the door and knocks. UNCLE NORVILLE answers it, smiling.

UNCLE NORVILLE
Hello there m'boy. Come in. Gwendolyn's still asleep,
actually. Rather unlike her...

The rest of Uncle Norville's words fade out, as Noah steps into the house, and the door is closed.

CUT TO:

INT. THE TREE TRUNK ROOM. DAY.

GWENDOLYN wakes up. She looks around the room, and opens the drapes. We can see out onto the beautiful snowy fields- they are ethereal. She sighs.

GWENDOLYN
Still stuck down the rabbit hole.

CUT TO:

INT. IDUN'S DINING ROOM. DAY.

GWENDOLYN and IDUN (the goddess of youth) sit at the breakfast table. Idun and her husband Bragi's dining room, like the rest of the house, is bright, airy and paneled in light wood.

IDUN
I hope you slept well, honey?

GWENDOLYN
I guess I did, actually.
(Beat. Joking.)
Why? Did you put a pea under the mattress?

IDUN
Why would I do that?

GWENDOLYN
Never mind.

FX: From outside we hear a tuneless wailing.

Gwendolyn and Idun stand and go to the window.

GWENDOLYN
What is that horrible...singing?

BRAGI is outside, playing a small harp and singing.

BRAGI
(Interrupting his song)
I'm the god of poetry. You can't expect me to be good
at everything.

IDUN
Well it's not going to work. I'm still horribly mad at you.

She slams the window shut, and pouts dramatically.

CUT TO:

EXT. THE CARPATHIAN MOUNTAINS. DAY.

The Romanian Anti-Communist Resistance FIGHTERS lie bleeding in the crevices of a mountain, a barricade of assorted forest refuse built up in front of them.

SOLDIERS also lie, in the area in front of the crevices, dying.

They moan feebly.

ROMILDA, ASTRID, ISEULT and other VALKYRIES emerge from the forest.

Romilda nods to them, and they spread out among the wreckage, occasionally prodding the bodies.

Iseult walks up to a man dying, propped up against the mountain. He is semi-conscious, but manages to croak out a sentence.
MAN
You've got to be the angriest angel I've ever seen.

ISEULT
You're not dead...yet.

She holds her sword over him, ready to stab him.
ROMILDA
Wait. I like this one.

ISEULT

He fought pathetically. He does not deserve a place
among the einherjar.

ROMILDA
I like him. Linnaea, take this one.

Linnaea moves towards the dying Man. He is no longer conscious.

ISEULT
Odin will be angry.

ROMILDA
Let him be.

Linnaea kisses the man on the forehead. A blue glow starts around him. She carefully lifts him up.

The Valkyries go back into the forest, a couple of them carrying the glowing bodies of dying soldiers.

As Astrid walks, a purple flower sprouts up in front of her.She stops to pick it. Romilda waits for her.
ROMILDA
Astrid, darling- not an ideal time for flower picking.

ASTRID
This isn't just a flower.

She holds up the flower.
ROMILDA
Polygala vulgaris
- Freya's hair.

ASTRID
(Amazed)
She is back after all.

ROMILDA
(Dismissively)
It's just a coincidence, love.

They go into the forest, Astrid dropping the flower as they leave.
A few more flowers sprout up from the spot where it lands.

CUT TO:

INT. A SMALL OFFICE BUILDING IN STOCKHOLM. DAY.

Mr. A. and Mr. B. stare at a radar screen, in a dark, well-furnished room. A number of monitors and dials are placed around the room, flashing occasionally.

A couple of dots pass onto the screen. The two men grin.

MR. A.
(To the dots)
Hello, darlings.

MR. B.
Give me the reading, quickly.

Mr. A. runs across the room to another machine, and begins reading a series of shapes that are being punched onto a card.

MR. A.
Two thousand feet up- a little to the northwest,
approaching.

MR. B.
I've got them - start the draining beam.

Mr. A. pulls a switch.
MR. B. (CON'T)
Damnit. They're passing by. We'll have to wait until
next time.

MR. A.
Next time we'll get one of them alone.

They smile evilly.

CUT TO:

INT. THE STROM FAMILY KITCHEN. DAY.

NOAH and UNCLE NORVILLE sit at the kitchen table, while AUNT LIANE makes a call.

AUNT LIANE
You haven't seen her either? We're getting very worried;
it's really not like Gwendolyn to take off somewhere. All
right, thank you. We will. Bye.

Aunt Liane hangs up the phone. She shakes her head. Uncle Norville and Noah look troubled.

UNCLE NORVILLE
That's; the library, Vera's, those girls she did knitting
with, and Mr. Edsen's.

NOAH
What about that professor? The one who was at dinner
last night. I can't seem to remember his name...

AUNT LIANE
That's odd, neither can I...Norville?

NORVILLE
Hmm... I'm sure I know it...Uh... Well, anyway he was a
jolly nice fellow, I'm sure he'd call us if she contacted
him.

AUNT LIANE
You're right dear. Who else is there? The Nielsens? I'll call
the Nielsens.

She picks up the phone and begins to dial.

CUT TO:

INT. IDUN'S SITTING ROOM. DAY.

IDUN and GWENDOLYN sit, Idun embroidering, and Gwendolyn attempting to crochet what looks like a shoelace.

A SERVANT enters and bows to Idun.
SERVANT
A present for you, ma'am.

The Servant hands Idun a jeweled bracelet on a velvet cushion. Idun is impressed. There is a note attached.

IDUN
(Reading the note)
To a perfect wife, from her undeserving husband.

Idun beams. Then she remembers that she is still mad at Bragi and frowns aggressively, gesturing for the Servant to leave. The Servant exits.

IDUN
(To Gwendolyn, earnestly)
I'm not going to forgive him, you know. I am quite
past appeasing.

CUT TO:

INT. IDUN'S SITTING ROOM. DAY.

GWENDOLYN sits alone.

In another room, we can head Idun's squealing giggle.

IDUN
Bragi!

We can hear Bragi's deep voice reply, but not quite what he's saying.

Gwendolyn stares sadly at her engagement ring. The ring is in extreme focus.

A laugh.

Gwendolyn snaps out of it. Loki stands in front of her. She quickly drops her hand, attempting to hide the ring.

LOKI
Still wearing that thing?

GWENDOLYN
I'm getting married in a month, so I don't see the point in
taking it off.

LOKI
(Rolling his eyes)
Let's go.

He heads for the door.

GWENDOLYN
Where?

LOKI
(Reminding her)
One week. Co-operating fully.

Gwendolyn gets up reluctantly and follows him out. We hear more laughter from the couple in the next room.

CUT TO:

EXT. THE COURTYARD OF FREYA'S HOME, SESSRUMNIR. NIGHT.

The VALKYRIES are returning home after a successful trip to the battlefield - many of them carry soldiers with them on their flying horses.

The last couple of VALKYRIES touch down. Others are leading their unsaddled horses to the stables, sharpening their weapons, or carrying the fallen soldiers inside.

ASTRID steps off of her horse and sways unsteadily. ROMILDA is right beside her to catch her.

ROMILDA
Astrid, what's wrong?

ASTRID
My head... it's... odd.

ROMILDA
(Calling to two nearby Valkyries)
Ilse. Linnaea. Get Astrid to lie down. I'll get Gretel to
take a look at her.

ASTRID
It's nothing, Romilda, don't bother - it's just when we
passed over that town, I thought-

ROMILDA
(Sternly)
Astrid.

ASTRID
You worry about me far too much.

ROMILDA
You give me far too many reasons to worry about you.

Astrid smiles, and Romilda kisses her. LINNAEA and ILSE help Astrid to the manor.

Romilda looks up at the sky. She frowns.
