In this exercise we were told to pick ten words:
A place we love
something in the house
a verb
an adjective
something you see when you look up
something to do with weather
an instrument
two nouns
and a season.
Then we had to write one line for each word, ending the line with that word. (not counting the title) I failed my first try, but the second worked out ok.
Beach
The warm rush of foaming ocean
enters a gritty oven.
Its limbs draw
shadows with gentle
pieces of wet sky.
This bucket of salty rain
harbors winged bugles
that dip down from their flight
with strong faith
they'll rise back into summer.
*tip* It helps if you have a theme you're connecting all the words to. Just keep that theme in mind, and your brain will do the rest. See, mine was a beach.
