Fern Abilene; Part Two
Kurr was quiete the gentlemen, and Fern found herself enjoying his company. Only slight pleasantries were exchanged between them, but they felt better than most pleasantries Fern was forced to work with a smile.
They reached the shuttle to the Training Center almost too quickly. Fern knew they would have to split ways for a more serious subject- the death of their tributes.
Sure enough, Kurr soon said, "We should probably split up now, yes?''
Fern took a deep breath, one like Kurr had just given her from the games seriousness. ''Yeah. See you later?" She tried for a casual tone.
He grinned,'' Of course, Miss Fern.''
Then he left. Fern smiled to herself, then went in search of her tributes. Bronze was fairly easy to find, and judging by the way his eyes glittered, he'd just figured something out. Stella was a little tougher, but it wasn't hard to round them both into the Training Center. Both tributes sat down and Fern took a deep breath.
''Okay, Bronze and Stella. You're both District One, and you've both had a decent amout of training. As much as I hate to say this- I want you to show off.'' Fern bit her lip, looking at Stella's confused face and Bronze's 'I SO got this' look. ''Not a lot or anything-'' Fern went back on her words a little- ''just show them what you can do. I can't tell you how to play your game- the tributes are different, and both of you are very different then I was- and am. Play your own game- I think you'll play better than with any piece of advice I can give you.'' Fern frowned. why am I so bad at this? She thought. ''I guess you can go train now- do everything. Seriously reccomended. You don't want to be lost out there. Okay- er- I guess you can go now. If you need my help, just call. Or... well, I'll be right behind you.''
Mission complete, Fern leaned back in her overly plushy chair. Hopefully, I'll be better next year, Fern thought to herself.
