Aetos Kalimas Sorry fiction, but I had been working on this post for a long time, and I didn't really want to change it. I can if you want me to, but I'm just letting you know.
I couldn't believe it! We were in the lead!
"Anyone coming up quick Savannah?" I asked, doing a quick check of our supplies. I wanted to keep our lead. We had two swords, a spiky ball thing Savannah came up with (it came with a heavy leather glove so that we could throw it), a pouch of Greek fire, and a spear carefully coated in the stuff you use to apply fake nails (hello, Aphrodite cabin bathroom!) that was so sticky I wasn't sure if we could use it.
"TJ and Spirit just knocked out Katherine and Daemond! And I think they knocked out Bella and Chase. Go faster, they're catching up!" She shouted. With the reins in hand, I bent down and grabbed my sword, ready for an attack. They really were coming up fast. They had covered half of the distance between us in a few seconds.
"Get your sword Savannah! We want to be ready!" All of a sudden there was an explosion by our wheel. I looked down and saw a hole, caused by Greek fire. TJ waved and grinned. What was he holding? A Nerf gun? I shook my head, amazed at his cleverness.
"I'm gonna throw the ball!" She nodded and took the reins. I slipped on the worn glove, used for birds. The ball was about the size of a softball, and it was covered in metal spikes all around. I wound up and pitched, like I did when I played baseball. It hit them smack in the side and broke through, just barely missing Spirit's famous Converse.
"You're gonna pay for that!" She shouted.
"Not likely!" Savannah responded. I high-fived her and we kept going. I could just barely make out the finish line in the distance. We were getting close, and we were tied. It was time to end it.
"Savannah! Use the coated sword! But put the gloves on!" She put the other pair of gloves on and grabbed the sword. It was a bit of a struggle to get it off the floor, but she managed. She tried to reposition her hands, but the gloves were stuck.
"Just throw it! We're getting close!" I screamed. She aimed and threw. It landed perfectly in between the spokes of their wheel, and the glue held fast, preventing the wheel from spinning. It dragged and they went significantly slower, but they still managed to go fast. They retaliated with another fire Nerf dart, completely blowing off the side of our chariot. Our wheel wobbled furiously, so I knew we wouldn't last long.
"Let's finish 'em!" Spirit and I said at the same time. We locked eyes and grinned. With my sword in one hand and the reins in the other, I swung, trying to cut their reins. I missed, taking off a small chunk of their chariot.
"I'm gonna throw the pouch!" Savannah said. I nodded, still trying to cut the reins. The wheel kept wobbling harder and harder every second, and the finish line was nearly upon us. She hucked the pouch and it landed at their feet. TJ threw it back, nearly missing my head.
It was like a game of hot potato. We kept tossing it back and forth, and it exploded in their chariot. Our wheel flew off and we came to a screeching halt. TJ and Spirit soared in front of us, coming in first. Our reins broke, and the horse ran around in circles until someone came and grabbed it.
"Savannah? Are you okay?" I asked. She was laying in a heap not too far away from me. She sat up with the biggest smile on her face.
"Are you kidding? I've never been better!" She wiped her forehead, leaving a streak of dirt. Our hands and lips met at the same time, and we froze in that moment for an eternity.
We came in second. Oh well. Nice job with the posting, keep it up
