Dmitri Collins

After the Senate was adjourned, Dmitri, his professor, and step-father were escorted back into their cars. The angry mob that had collided with Dmitri when he had first arrived, were still chanting anti-vampire slogans as he returned.

As the security attempted to clear the path for their car to drive off, Dmitri’s step-father who was sat at the front eyed him through the rear-view mirror. “Now do you see why your mother was so against your occupation? You have now made yourself public enemy number one while dragging my company's name into the equation. Congratulations.”

Dmitri ignored him. As the car finally set off, his professor turned to him. “There’s no way in hell this can be done in two weeks,” he said, a look of concern lining his face.

“I know,” nodded Dmitri.

“What are you going to do?”

Dmitri sighed, massaging his temples uneasily before answering, “Release the serum that I’m currently using...”

The professor looked at him, shocked.

“I know it has its faults,” Dmitri acknowledged, "but if even a few vampires can be persuaded to try it, it may buy us some time. In the meantime, I can try and find a way to rework the current formula.”

“But there's no way you can get it done in two weeks,” reiterated his professor.

“I know, that’s why we need a plan B.”

“What's that?”

“We need to alert all vampires of the situation and tell them to stick together and prepare for the worst. If this bill becomes law, we'll have no choice but to go into hiding. We have to start collecting food and other provisions to ration out. Also we need to locate buildings which vampires can use as safe-houses for the foreseeable future...” Dmitri’s mind drifted suddenly, “There's an old boarding house which I know of, it's probably not in good shape, but it will have to do for now...”

Dmitri reached inside his pocket for his cell phone and began to dial Isabella’s phone number. He was sure she and her entire family were aware of what was going on; nonetheless he needed to make sure she knew about the safehouse and what she and her brother had to do in order to stay safe...perhaps she could tell the others...

I stared at Tom, alarmed. "How long have you had this planned?" I asked warily, even as I sat down to start dousing my hair in the dye. He shrugged nonchalantly, sitting down aswell. "It's always good to have a back-up plan," he stated finally, a slight smirk visible on his face.

Peter rolled his eyes. "What he means is, this was kind of inevitable. Mostly due to his complete and utter inability to behave in a socially acceptable way."

Tom nodded seriously. "That too."

I smiled slightly, gesturing to Isabella to join us, and she approached with a worried face. "My brother..." she whispered softly, looking to each of us with big, confused eyes, as if this would make us let her leave.

"Sorry, but you're safer with us from now on." Tom said. A completely unreassured expression flickered across her face before she nodded resignedly. "Okay."

Behind us, Alice gave her a huge grin. "Don't worry. Me and Clare will look after you just fine."

Sorry it's short but I'm swampedD:

Jack: "I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by."

John Ryder

I walked in to the Starbucks and sat down at the table with an official looking man on it. Most of the customers were huddled at the back of the Starbucks watching the new on a large tv. The news was switching between the debate and information on the riot. The Man who I was sitting with nodded and looked towards the briefcase. As I reached towards it the man shook his head and looked towards a pair of black leather gloves. I pulled them on and opened the Briefcase. Inside was a silencer for my glock a iphone 4 and a small map with a street two blocks over circled in red pen. In the circle cherolet cruze and the number plate of the car had been written. I nodded at the man who stood up leaving his coffee cup sitting on the table. TAKE IT was written on the section normally reserved for the order of coffee. I closed the brief case grabbed the coffee cup, hearing the sound of car keys rattle as I did, stood up and walked out of the Starbucks.

I was at the car ten minutes later, it was an insuspecting silver colour with blacked out windows, I opened the door and climbed in putting the brief case and my bag with the spare clothes in on the other side . I took the iphone4 and turned it on, I already had six emails and two texts. I checked the texts first:

From: Unknown
Go to the von rays house first find Isabellas brother and find out what he knows. We think Isabbella is with The target

From: Boss
This has to be done quietly try to minimise civilian deaths, With the current vampire chaos around the country it will be easy to pass your killing off as gang assualt's that dosen't mean you can kill any one in your way.

The Emails were full of addresses and people Tom knew as well as places he'd been know to hide out. THe one at the top of my inbox was one instructing me to check the boot.

After an Hours drive I was at the end of the street from the Von rays house. A police car were was parked outside. Fuck I thought.

To: Boss
cops on the scene what should I do

I sent the message and waited for a few seconds until the phone dinged signaling a reply.

From: Boss
Do what you have to do.

The reply sent a sollemm feeling through me. I got out of the car and walked round to the boot. Inside the trunk was a mp5k with a silencer and tactical sight. I jumped over the back of the wall and pulled my hood up Alexander was visible inside. I could hear him from shouting about how he had to find his sister. I aproached the back door and squeesed the handle, I was in luck the door was open, The cops were distracted by Alexanders rambling. This was the time to strike. I pushed opened the door and shot the two police before they had a chance to turn around. Alexander looked shocked Blood splattered across his face.

"Are you going to help me find you sister?" I asked.

Isabella Von Ray

I turned to smile at the one who went by the name of Alice.

"Thanks," I said to her before sitting down. Tom came out behind me and I heard the snap of rubber gloves.

"You ready," he asked. I sighed and nodded. I really liked my hair the way it was already but since this is for our safety.

"Do your best," I said to him. He poured something cold and wet on my head and I shuddered.

"It's so cold," I complained silently to myself. Bring Bring I froze in my seat and looked around frantically.

"What's that," Peter asked quickly, standing up from where he sat and frantically looking around. Bring Bring Br-Bring I know that tone...

"My phone!" I jumped up from the chair and walked quickly to the air matress where I'd dumped my pockets. I'd forgotten all about that. I quickly pressed talk and put it to my ear. "Hello?"

"Isabella?"

"Dmitri!"

"Isabella listen closely."

"Mmmhmm?"

"Things aren't looking well for the vampire race and we all have to lay low for a while. I can't really explain now but I need you to get your brother, gather supplies and go to this safe house right outside of town. It goes by the name of River Oaks and it's a run down boarding home-"

"Wait," I inturpted, "what are you talking about?"

"I've no time to explain just go okay."

"I was leaving anyway-"

"Listen, I have to go. I'll talk to you later."

"But-"

"Bye." He hung up and the dial tone rang in my ears. I looked up to find everyone crowding around me. I smiled wearily at them and shrugged.

"We have a place to go..."

Alexander Von Ray

Hot blood splattered against my face and I froze with horror. Who the hell- What the hell- How the hell-

"Are you going to help me find you sister?" I stared awkwardly at the man in the suit and again and the two police men that had just fallen dead in front of my eyes.

"What are you doing," I asked, my voice was shaky and hoarse.

"It's a simple question, son," the man continued. "It's either that or jail." I sputtered and took a furious step towards him before I thought better of it and reered back.

"What the fuck do you mean jail? I didn't do-"

"Those three people you murdered down in the suburbs. You and your sister's DNA were found on the crime scene." He pulled a phone out of his pocket and skimmed quickly through whatever was on the screen. "Now, are you going to help me find your sister." I licked my lips and swiped at my face.

"I'd do anything to find Bella. I mean, do you know where she is?"

"If I knew where she was I wouldn't need your help." He voice was dull and he spoke as if he were explaining the answer to 1+1 to highschoolers. I frowned at him and narrowed my eyes.

"Fine," I mumbled. He turned and started out the door.

"Great, come with me." Grumbling and huffing, I followed the man out of the door. The air was cold and chilled the blood that was still on my face. I wiped at it again before giving up and looking up towards the sky. What the hell is going on?

Delilah Holmes

It was good to step out of the building and feel that progress had been made. Not a lot of progress admittedly since this put a two week delay on their bill, but progress all the same. The press started to crowd in and Delilah felt herself drawn close against the Senator's side as the vampire sped away in a car.

"That was good work in there, good work!" Senator Burton praised as he posed for the camera. He alternated between big, friendly smiles and serious, intelligent stares. Whatever the reporters wanted they'd find from him. Dee on the other hand shied away and couldn't wait to be sitting in the back of his car.

"Are you pleased with today's outcome?" A young, spotty faced reporter swung a microphone their way that almost hit Delilah in the head. They were eager to get at the Senator, the new Mr. Big in town.

"I'm confident that the Act will soon be passed," Senator Burton answered cryptically. More reporters crowded in to ask questions but by now we'd reached his car and he waved them away. The driver opened the doors and we both climbed into the luxurious, spacious bck compartment but I didn't feel safe until we'd pulled away from the conference building. Then I could finally relax.

"Good show in there," Burton mumbled to himself. "Right. The Addlesleigh research, my desk tomorrow morning."

"Yes sir," Delilah said politely. "Is there anything else you need?"

"Ye-eees. Information on that serum. I want to know everything you can discover about the current batch and I want you to tell me if two weeks is a viable time-frame for a cure." Senator Burton rubbed his chin thoughtfully and Dee's only response was a nod.

Delilah didn't know what to think about the so called cure. It was obvious to her now that there was a minority group of vampires who were sentimental. Who perhaps did hope to co-exist with humanity, but it wasn't enough. There was afterall a minority of humans who murdered and raped but that didn't stop them from being, on the whole, a working and good society.

Vampires were the opposite. They were bad and if it wasn't always completely black and white, that was worse still. It would be more difficult to show the people the truth of the matter, because humans were always hoping. Always looking for another way. Well this time there wasn't one, the vampires had to be exterminated or the human world and all their values would be destroyed. Dee wasn't going to let anymore innocents die. She just wished Dmitri hadn't looked so human, and so helpless. It was almost enough to make her want to help him in his futile, time-wasting bid for harmony. Hope. Such a vile emotion.

Tom Gray and Peter Harving

"We have a place to go..." Isabella said, shutting her phone and letting it fall onto the matress.

'Where?" Peter asked as he scrutinized his newly blonde hair in an old cracked mirror, a case of grey colored contacts in his hand.

"An old boarding house," Isabella said. "It's just outside of town, River Oaks. Other vampires will be there too. Dmitri-"

"Absolutely not," Tom said. "We're getting as far out of this town as we can. I'm thinking we'll skip over a couple states, get some passports, and get out of the country."

"Tom you're an idiot," Peter said. "Isabella, do you know the address?"

"Yeah, Dmitri gave it to me," Isabella said.

"Then we'll go there," Peter said. "But we're gonna be cautious for once. If it turns out a trap, we'll get out of here. Get your stuff together, guys, we gotta leave."

Tom put a hand roughly to Peter's shoulder, stopping him. "What are you doing?" he asked. "I call the shots, Pete. I'm the one who knows what I'm doing."

"No, Tom, you don't," Peter said. "You're a goddamn idiot, just look what you've done already."

"I'm taking care of it!" Tom shouted. The two men's faces were inches from each other, their mouths caught up in snarls, sharp canines shining.

"No, you're not," Peter said. "I am. Now step aside, Tom. We're going to the boarding house."

Tom shoved Peter back. "You better know your place, Pete," he growled. "You'd be dead right now if it weren't for guys like me."

Peter lunged at Tom, his fist colliding with his face with a satisfying crunch. Tom hit the floor, moaning and holding a hand over his nose. "My family's dead thanks to guys like you," Peter spat. He threw his back over his shoulder and grabbed Isabella's hand, leading her out of the room. "We're going to the boarding house," he called back to the others. "You're welcome to come."

I rushed to tom.

"Are you ok?" I asked him, helping him up with a pull.

"That damned idiot! We should flee to Surda or some other unknown place, where we can kill in privacy. No one will have to know about this damned disease."

"Tom, think for a second. By the time we can get to any other states, there is already a bounty on our head. They won't let us get passports, and if we forge them, the security is going to be twice a tough anyways. Peter's got a plan. For once, listen to him! You treat him like an animal."

"He's as good as one!" Tom hissed.

"Our bus is leaving," I reminded him, as peter walked out, Clare and the new girl following. Clare gazed back.

"Viennent sur(come on), Alice!" She beckoned.

"Are you coming?" I asked Tom.

The vampire killer I'm talking about in this post is Christopher Loch: I just thought it would add a little more excitement. Let me know if it's a problem :)

Dmitri Collins

Dmitri and his professor reached the old abandoned boarding house by nightfall. He had chosen not to say goodbye to his mother, instead he wrote her a letter on the journey explaining the situation, in the hope that she would understand why he needed to leave.

For a place that had been uninhabited for decades, the boarding house was in better shape than he had imagined. The roof and a couple of windows were damaged, and the inside was completely burnt and filthy, but nevertheless the structure was still standing. The place had over seven large bedrooms, a grand kitchen, and an enormous basement which Dmitri could use as a makeshift laboratory. The boarding house was close to an old wind mill which would be perfect for storing essential supplies.

Upon arriving, Dmitri set to work preparing the place for the coming vampires whilst his professor began to construct the laboratory. Dmitri had brought pots of black paint which he chucked onto each window to ensure sunlight couldn’t pass. He then rewired the entire building so that running water wouldn’t be a problem. Lastly, he brought in all the supplies he had managed to collect in the short space of time he had been given: money, blankets, candles, clothes, food, and more importantly, blood.

He headed down to the basement, an hour later to see that his professor had already finished setting up the make-shift laboratory, but he noticed that the old man who just got off the phone, looked far from happy.

“What is it, professor?” Dmitri asked him.

“I have some bad news...”

“Go ahead; it can’t make this day any worse.”

“I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” his professor replied. “I just got off the phone with my friend Dr. Martin, the coroner who works for the local police department. He says that a few hours ago, a dead vampire was found on Twelfth Street.”

Dmitri shook his head in dismay.

“It was a male vampire,” continued his professor, “and from what Dr. Martin could tell, the act was carried out in the exact way as all the other dead vampires this month: the victim was brutally tortured before it was staked and then beheaded.” His professor handed him a fax with a picture of the vampire corpse. “And that’s not all. Look at what the killer inscribed here...” he pointed at the stomach of the vampire.

“No mercy,” Dmitri read, before sighing in helplessness. “Wh-what does this mean? That all the dead vampires were killed by the same person?”

His professor nodded. “Either that or there are copycats of the real killer running around town trying to take the vampire situation into their own hands-”

Suddenly, Dmitri’s phone buzzed. His heart sank as he read Mr. Von Ray’s message. Isabella and Alexander were missing.

He couldn't understand. He had spoken to Isabella only an hour ago...where the hell was she?

My brow furrowed as Alice continued to kneel next to Tom with an imploring expression on her face. Bickering vampires really weren't my thing, and I couldn't help but think that maybe we'd all be safer if the two of them were seperated. Still ... Tom had saved my life before, and now I owed him Alice's. I could hardly just walk out of here and leave him, not with his head on a bounty.

Even if he did have a knack for staying alive against the odds.

I bit my lip anxiously, hoping that for once he'd leave his stubborness behind and just listen to Peter. Finally he seemed swayed by the twin puppy-eyes from Alice and me, and stood up with an irritable glare. "Fine. We'll stay there long enough to find out it's a trap, then we're leaving. Got it?"

Peter, already out of earshot, didn't reply, but Alice nodded wordlessly in an attempt to appease him.
Elizabeth: "There will come a moment when you will have a chance to show it. To do the right thing."

Tom Gray

He pushed himself up from the floor and followed Alice and Clare out of the old house. He stopped on the porch and looked back into the house. He'd spent nearly his entire life here. He's moved himself in at sixteen, when his mom kicked him out. He'd had the closest thing to a family here, with the ones before Peter. And he had to admit, it was almost a family with Peter too.

"Come on, Tom," Alice called from beside the car. "We have to go."

Tom nodded. He didn't plan to stay at the boardinghouse. But it would give solace to Alice and Clare, a last image of him being cooperative - for once - before he disappeared out of their lives forever. Peter lashing out like that; Tom couldn't stick around and deal with him. Not anymore.

Peter Harving

"What did you mean when you said your family's dead thanks to guys like Tom?' Isabella asked. She sat in the passanger seat of the car, Peter in the drivers seat, as they waited for Alice and Clare to drag Tom out of the house.

Peter stared at the center of the steering wheel. "Most vampires leave their families at eighteen. It's just easier that way. Maybe you don't know, your family is different. But most leave at eighteen."

Isabella waited for him to continue, watching him from the next seat.

"I didn't get to wait until eighteen," Peter continued. "I only got to sixteen."

"What happened?" Isabella asked.

"On my sixteenth birthday, a group of vampires came into my house when everyone was sleeping but me," Peter explained. "They came in, and two of them held me down while the others went upstairs and sucked my family dry. The two guys threw me around for a while and then left. I heard the police shoot each of them down in the street outside my house - my neighborhood was full of vampires, the cops made rounds often. So I sat there in the living room of my house, frozen, knowing what waited upstairs. My parents, my little sister were up there. They were dead."

Peter gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white as his fingers tightened around the old leather. "Then down comes Tom. I heard him walking down the stairs, thinking maybe it was my dad. They walked the same, sounded the same coming down those stairs. But no, it was Tom.

"'You don't want to go up there,' he told me.

"I just stared at him, wanting to be able to kill him right there more than anything. But you've seen Tom, he's bigger than me and I was only sixteen. I didn't know anything about being a vampire on the street.

"'You better come with me,' Tom said. He came in and pulled me up off the floor. 'I'll look out for you, kid, so long as you do what I say."

"Why did you go with him?" Isabella asked.

"What else could I do? My family was dead, I didn't have anywhere to go. And there was always that possibility that maybe someday I could hurt him like he hurt my family, hurt me."

Isabella shifted in her seat, clearing her throat uncomfortably. Peter let his head hang lower, his chin resting on his chest. He knew he was scaring her. "I never did anything," he said. "As much as I hate to admit it, you can't help but start to like Tom. Or at least his lifestyle. After a while killing people loses emotion and it's just nothing."

He looked at Isabella, but her face was away from him. "I'm sorry," he said quietly. "I don't like to kill people, but being Type O isn't easy.."

The car door opened, Alice, Clare, and Tom piled in the back. "Let's go," Tom said. "In a matter of minutes this place could be crawling in cops."

John Ryder

Alexander was shifting nervousley in the passenger seat.

"Wheres your sister?" I asked as we stopped at a red light.

"I don't know" he said desperatly. Shifting from side to side in his seat. Then what good are you I thought. my phone buzzed.

From: Boss
To: Ryder
Subject: Cleaning house

Bad news the government is cleaning house. Delta force guys came round the station arrested the three vamp detectives that were their and set out after any others in the field. Their also after Tom Gray. I'd order you to stop the mission and get out of here while you can but I know it's personel so I won't try to stop you. Once you've killed him you better get out of here. If their arresting vampire cops before the law's even past I'd hate to think how their going to treat your kind when It dose get past. Their riding in a black hawk so you better get as much done before they go after Gray or you'll be chasing them

Good Luck Ryder. It goes without saying that I never sent you this email.

I put the Phone back in my pocket and set the gps to the coordinates of one of Tom Grays know hideouts.

"What was that about?" Alexander asked.

"Nothing, now try to call your sister we need to know where she is" I said and drove off going a good twenty miles over the speed limit.

Isabella

"I'm sorry," I whispered under my breath just as the others entered. I don't think he could hear me.

"Let's go," Tom said. "In a matter of minutes this place could be crawling in cops." Peter nodded stifly and sped down the road. Everything was uncomfortably quite for a few moments. I turned to Peter and studied his expression: his lips were set in a thin tight line and his eyes were stale. I raised an eyebrow and watched him closer. He must be remembering what happened; how he got here. And his little sister. That must be hard... After turning around, I saw that the rest in the back held about the same range of emotions, all of them stoic with a hint of fright. Jeez, was it getting awkward or was it just me? I bit my lip and cleared my throat.

"I-It's great that we have a place to stay. R-right?" Peter glanced over at me quickly before turning to the road.

"I guess," he replied, "but if the cops find out we might have to make a quick run again. Considering some of us are wanted criminals..." My expression grew grim as I thought about my brother who was, in fact, one of those "wanted criminals". I wonder what he was doing now. I hope he's okay. Bring Bring Bring Br-Bring I jumped a bit before reaching for my phone. My, I was really getting a lot of calls lately.

"Hello?"

"Isbella!" Alexanders voice was bright and cheerful. My heart skipped a few beats and I clutched the phone tighter.

"Alexander! Oh, I'm so happy to hear from you! Are you okay?"

"Fine, I'm just walking down the street. Where are you?" I paused for a minute before composing myself. No "are you okay?" or "did you get enough blood"? Usually, those would be the first questions out of his mouth.

"Umm...on the road."

"Going where?" The was a mans voice in the background that I didn't recognize and a shuffling of papers.

"Who was that," I asked slowly.

"N-noone. The TV." I knitted my brow and racked my brain for an explanation on how that could be possible.

"Now, I know I'm not the smartest vampire of them all but how can the voice be a TV if you're walking down the street?" Peter turned to me quickly and mouthed the words 'hang up'. I gave him a questioning look and put the phone down from my ear, Alexander was saying something on the other end.

"Why," I whispered.

"Just do it, okay," he replied. I looked up at him then back down at the phone.

"Alexander, I have to go."

"But-" The dial tone filled my ears and I sat the cell on my lap.

Alexander Von Ray

"Isabella!" But the call was already dead. Ryder laughed in the seat next to me. The was no humor at all in his tone.

"You, sir, are a horrible liar." He shook his head and pulled out his cell, texting something rapidly with only one hand.

"Whatever," I grumbled. "What the hell do you want with Bella anyway?" He turned towards me and scoffed.

"She's with my target. I find her and I find Tom."

"Who the hell is Tom and why is he with my sister?" Ryder laughed dryly and shook his head.

"That's beside the point. Where did she say she was?" he asked. No, demanded. I didn't like this guy. I shouldn't answer him. I should just keep my mouth shut and not say anything at all. Bossing me around? Who the fuck did he think he was? When Ryder realized he wasn't going to get an answer that quickly, he turned towards me and slowed the car a bit.

"Did you suddenly fall mute? Open your mouth and tell me where your sister is."

"Why should I?" I spat back at him. He just groaned and ran a hand through his hair before turning to glare at me.

"I have no time for childish games. You don't tell me where Isabella is and I just might rip your throat out after letting you half die in jail. Don't forget your wanted for murder, boy. But that's the least of my troubles. If you ever want to see your sister again I suggest you open that mouth of yours. You were annoying from the start and I have half a mind to dump you out in the middle of nowhere and leave you to shrivel and die." I flinched internally at his words. He wouldn't. Would he? I glanced outside and saw were we resting somewhere unfamiliar. The scene was dry and bare with few houses and trees. Where the hell were we? I looked back up at Ryder before sighing and bowing my head.

"She just said she was on the road and then she hung up."

"Fuck fuck fuck" I shouted smashing my hands aganst the steering wheel. The image of Conroy getting shot ran through my mind, he had been trigger happy yeah but he'd still been a good kid, and Joey lying on the floor.

"That's it" I said in a scary whisper. I got out the car and walked around to Alexanders side. He looked worried , of cource he should be, I grabbed his door handle and wrenched it open. Alexander face peaked at the oh shit moment. I grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and pulled him out of the car. He tried to resist but this was exactly the type of thing police learnt how to do. When he was finely out I grabbed his belt and through him up aganst the side of the car. Then I yanked him back I stuck my foot out and he fell over. When he was on the floor I kicked him in the face, twice, lifted him onto his knees before kicking him in the gut a few times. I stepped back and let him get up. When he did I ounched him in the face knocking him back down. I reached into my hoodie for the silenced gun. He made a desperate lunge but I caught him in the chest with my foot and pushed him back down into the ground.

"Is their any reason I should keep you alive?" I said pointing the gun at his chest. He gave me a defiant look.

"This dosen't have to be quick" I said pointing the gun at his thigh.

"I could shoot you in the leg and leave you here to bleed out" I said. If it did come to that I knew no one would find him in time. This area had been set up for families that had vampires in their ranks. The area had been a fully functional society. High schools, wal marts, dunkin donoughts and of course a blood bank. When the blood nak had closed a few years ago the place had fallen apart. The vampires praying on the human residents in the end the vamp either moved into the city to be close to fifth street or died. The humans had too many bad memories to stay and the place had fell into disuse. Now it was a ghost town.

" Alexander I'm not the only one looking for the person your sisters with, I might let her live, the defintly won't" I said Alexander bowed his bloody face for a second.

"Okay," he said before taking his phone out.

"I had her phone connected to GPS so I'd always know where she was but when she found out she made me promise not to use, I never terminated the account though" He said. Alexander fildeled about on his phone for a few seconds before giving it to me. A little red dot was slowly moving across the map.

" Good" I said. I walked up to the car took out the stun gun. It his Alexander in the face and he convolsed for a few seconds. I let it go on until the pain was too much and he fainted. I walked up to him cuffed him and dumped him in the back seat.

" Sorry kid" I got back into the car and set after them.
