Would you be able to survive if everything you knew had disappeared?
At 6:15 p.m. on March 17, 1998, every living being with a spinal cord felt a flash of pain, technology failed and the world began to end. The effects were that electricity stops working; gunpowder and other explosives no longer function as expected, although wood and other things still burn; and water boils but, regardless of the amount of heat applied in a closed system, will not convert to high pressure steam.
What this means is that everything our society had accomplished since the 1200s no longer worked. And people began to die. The world is back to how it was in the Middle Ages and people don't know what to do. The event is known as 'The Flash' or 'The Change' to the survivors, and after a month than number has drastically decreased. Will you survive?
The story starts with a group of random survivors somehow coming together in some unspecified location on the East Coast. They have survived so far, but as time goes on the bandits become quicker and more adapted and the land becomes more and more dangerous. Will you travel west and look for survivors, fighting through the cannibals bandits and other baddies, or will you stay? Will you become friends or will the troubles tear you apart?
