The word triggered another rush of words from Rea. "An archivist? What's that? Do you collect books, lore, knowledge, dredges of civilizations long lost to the endless march of time? Words of ancients, eternally preserved in the words immortalised through songs and stories of ages past?"
A small, insignificant, never-listened-to part of her was begging her to calm down, register that they were in fact in danger, and refrain from saying anything silly.
Of course, that part wasn't listened to for a reason. People like Rea, who sought to amass the wisdom of worlds in their head, never stooped so low as petty things like tact. That would only hinder their research.
"Could we use these rings to travel to any world? I'm just asking out of curiousity, of course." She tried to look as innocent as possible while she said it.
