He turned when he heard James approaching, eyes wide with curiosity behind the cloth wrapped around his head. He had been watching the strange structure for the last few minutes, trying to figure out the best way to tackle such a strange thing. Was he supposed to climb it? Or was he just supposed to look at it?
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
Though he wanted to try what James had said it was used for, he decided that it was best to watch the others go on it first. So, crossing his arms, he plopped down right where he was standing and looked up at the giant thing before him.
James watched as Hero sat down, admittedly a little confused, but then proceeded to go explore the contraption with caution. He made his way up a small stairway and started to walk across the different platforms. It was... oddly satisfying. He tried mimicking Raiden and going down one of the slopes. As he slid down, he let out a surprised little squee, laughing as he jumped out the end into the sand below. He smiled, running back up. He wanted to do that again!
Engel follows James, watching him with a wary kind of interest as he slides down but smiling as the other boy seems to enjoy it, hesitantly stepping towards the plastic contraption as he debates trying it himself.
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
He hesitated. "Is it fun?" he asks, a bit unsure. He's not used to all these new things - and in the past, new hasn't always been good, so naturally he's cautious about something he doesn't recognize.
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
Engel hesitated one last time before making up his mind and sitting down, pushing himself down the slide and letting out a surprised yelp as he landed in the woodchips at the bottom. Despite the exclamation, the boy was smiling, face lit up like a Christmas tree.
((Or, to be politically correct, a Hanukkah bush or other festive lights SO THERE))
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
After observing James and Engel going up and down the strange thing, he got to his feet and headed over to it. It seemed like it was fun, so he had to join in! He climbed up the stairway that James had gone up, which was a little difficult because of how small he was, and stood right behind James as he waited for him to go. He didn't say anything. He was sure that just his presence was enough.
James smiled as Engel went down the slide, then launched himself down it with a little running start this time. He shot out into the woodchips and rolled, laughing.
Hero just sat down at the top of the slide, rather than do the running start that James did. He wanted to get a good idea of what it was like without anything added onto it. So he took a deep breath, positioned himself just right, and let go. He gave a startled cry at how fast he slid down, but, when he hit the wood chips, he was giggling with joy.
