"Please, don't offer," Diamond said. "I'll regenerate faster than you will. It's my job, anyways. Isn't it, brother?"
"Vhatever makes you happy, Di."
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
He looked over to the girl with the knife with a bored blink of his eyes.
“Magic. Probably. They’re the only one who’s managed to drag me to a relatively peaceful temporary pocket of reality - but who knows how long that’ll last.” He kicked out his legs again on the recliner. “In other words, this is probably temporary. I’d say the likelihood of you returning to your home within at least a day or two is very high. Until then, we’ll just have to wait it out.”
"Zis happens more often zan you'd zink," Kratzer added. "Zat's how ve know each other. Damascus, James, and I."
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
Damascus smiled and shook Diamond's outstretched hand. "The pleasure's mine." He opened his mouth to carry on with some small talk, when James dropped in.
A guilty blush flushed his cheeks as James called Engel's wounds to attention. How had he been so dense to have not noticed? What kind of brother was he? Wallowing in shame, it was a few minutes before he spoke up again.
"Hello, James. Wonderful to see you." He said weakly. "A- and please let me know if there's anything I can do to help, Engel."
"Danke, but really, zere's not. Just gotta...wait 'til it kicks in."
"You seriously need to stop getting yourself hurt, Engel," Diamond grumbled. "Honestly. There's only so many times I can save you."
"Zatknis," he snapped irritably. "Ze only reason you're still around is because I saved you first."
"Yeah, but you only did that because I manipulated you into being forced to stay with me."
"Vhich you vouldn't have been able to do if I hadn't gotten your hide out of ze damn camp in ze first place!" he protested.
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost."
Magic, who had been spacing out for a few minutes as more people arrived, suddenly snapped back into focus the moment that they heard James mention their name. But by the time that their name being said - their actual name, not the thing that people could do - the conversation had switched gears. The Personification of Magic frowned. Why did this always seem to happen in a situation like this?
Magic cleared their throat.
Loudly.
"Actually," they said, "it's never been me to do the dragging. I just make it a little better."
Thytes felt a little annoyed about being left out of the conversation. Sure, it seemed they were all already familiar with each other, and the topics were far beyond his level of understanding, but it wasn't like him to sit and listen and do nothing.
Fortunately, that's when he remembered that he had seen the man with the goatee before.
"Oh!" he said, snapping his fingers before turning to address the person in question. "Didn't I see you in that strange cave? I did not have much of a chance to meet everyone, but you look remarkably familiar."
James's eyes flicked over to Magic, who'd predictably made their presence known. Instead of addressing their response, he only gave them a small nod of acknowledgment before looking over to the lion, who apparently was a familiar face. He had been in the underground cave with the beach, amongst other things. He nodded his head towards the lion.
"Yes, I remember you from there," he answered. "Though... I'm sorry I've forgotten you name." He'd forgotten a lot of the small details from that particular 'adventure,' actually.
"That's quite alright," Thytes said, "In all honesty, I forgot yours as well, so we may as well reintroduce ourselves." He extended a hand. "Thytes Aurelius! And you?"

"What a lovely name," Thytes said, letting go and sinking into his seat. "I guess you are a hawk?"
