*I'm sorry, I can't wait for the others... but this won't affect anything, it's just me having fun... Hel is going to be so entertaining to portray!*

Hel-

"Sloven!" Hel shouted, sitting up in her bed. "Where are you?"

The girl eventually found her way into the godess's chamber. "Yes'm?"

"Stand up straight," Hel remarked. "Anyway, is today's delivery here yet?"

"Yes'm, I think so'm."

Hel sighed and got up. It was annoying that as well as having to live down here, the only maidservant she had couldn't even manage "Madam."

She walked over the ice and through the doorway to the main entrance hall of her kingdom. There was a slight clattering from the hole at the threshold. Hel sat down, oblivious of the cold and looked into it.

Several of the men screamed at the sight.

"Calm down," she said. "Now what have we got here today?"

She picked one of them up. He was covered in red spots. "Measles," she muttered and tossed him away. "Old age," she said to another, whimpering white haired man, dropping him beside the blotchy one. "The flu?" she said incredulously, looking at the next one of the lot. "Oh come on, nothing interesting?" She threw the man with the flu against the wall. He hit it with a sickening crash.

"That is why you don't walk into walls," she said, bending down to the others. She picked the next man up, and frowned.

"What did you die of?" she asked.

"Wound to the leg, got infected. Who are you?"

"Hel, you?"

"Pete, am I dead?"

"Indeed you are. Welcome to Hel. No, I cannot get you transferred to Valhalla, and no, I will not show you to your room, it's first come, first serve."

He shrugged. "Cool," he said.

"I like you, you've got spunk," Hel said with a grin. "Sit with me?"

He shrugged again. "Yeah."

She settled the man, about the size of her torso on her knee as she sorted through the rest of the batch.

"So what do you do all day?" Pete asked.

"Mostly trying to deal with these ones. It's a one-woman show up here, I don't have Valkyries, or poets or anything to help me. Or else trying to help out my brothers. Jorgamundr is always fighting with Thor. It's a difficult situation."

"Does your father come to visit?" Pete asked curiously. He clearly knew his mythology.

Hel looked darkly at him. "No. And I'd like to keep it that way."

*you don't actually have to read any of that if you don't want to, mainly me getting a feel of the character.*

I realised I had not given you much to go on for Odin's personality so here is a little more of his history to give you an idea:

Odin loved to cause conflicts and shifts of power. He once aided Harald, a Danish King, instructing him in tactics and granting him victories for years. In the king's final battle, however, Odin took the place of Harald's charioteer and drove the king to his demise.

Although Odin embodied deceit, violence and war, he also embodied many admirable qualities. He was the most knowledgeable god, with a great love for wisdom. He would willingly sacrifice himself for it.

Odin

A dense mist hung over the halls of Valhalla, casting the shadowy figures who trudged towards the gates into deeper shadow. Their armour creaked and groaned; the sound of rusted metal scraping against torn flesh and broken bones. The soldiers waited with apprehension, watching the vast gates that stretched from left to right, as far as the eye could see in each direction. And then with a menacing groan, they slid open.

The dead entered and walked to the holy doors where a line of Valkyries waited. They were tall, each and every one of them and beautiful but with a fierce and noble grace such as only warriors could master. Geiir walked forwards steadily, his mind awash with grief for those he'd left behind. The Valkyrie he came to was stocky with a sharp, angular face, narrow blue eyes and two long plaits of sun kissed blond hair. Geiir stood before her and did not tremble and did not speak. The Valkyrie examined him, looking through his very flesh and then she nodded and Geiir was granted passage through the holy doors.

He found himself in a vast hall with no walls in site but at the far end, his eyes could just make out a stone dais and upon the throne was seated a man. Geiir bowed down and slowly the God Odin crossed the room. Odin was neither old or young and he was dressed in the clothes of a mortal man with a grey cloak hanging from his shoulders, the blue hood pulled down to reveal a head of dark hair. His face was hard and fierce but his eyes were those of a wise man and his dark beard was long and neat.

"Welcome to Valhalla," Odin said. "I have been expecting you. Come. You will make a fine warrior and you will aid me in my control and ultimate destruction of the trickster God, Loki."

*lol, Locki[i], kitty? no "C" remember? ^_^ I'm not really sure how to introduce Idun so I'm sorry that this post will be short*

[Idun]

Light mist circled the small orchard, leaving the the ripe, red fruit in small droplets of water. The morning sun's rays were just coming over the horizon. Idun walked around the trees in figure eights, counting the apples that had fallen on the ground as she went.

"Seven... eight... nine... ten..."

Then she spotted someone, a human maybe, far off in the distance. She wasn't able to make out who or what it really was despite the fact that the fog wasn't that heavy. All she could tell was that they were getting closer. [i]Probably to try take one of my apples
, she growled to herself mentally.

"Oh no you don't..." mumbled Idun, her pace quickening as she headed for the mysterious person.
Our happiness here is all vain glory,
This false world is but transitory,
The flesh is weak, the Fiend is slee
Timor mortis conturbat me.

Bragi:

I smiled. "Would you calm down. I just wanted to see you."

she growled. "Couldn't it have waited?"

I fained surprise. "Are you not happy to see me, most beautiful of women." I grinned. I loved being the God of poetry. my language was sweet upon the ears of others.

I walked cautiously up to Idun, smiling at her beauty and radiance. "Are you not going to greet me, my love and beauty? Oh goddess of godesses?"

Skadi

I clenched and unclenched my fists. I was angry adn I had no idea as to why, I just was... I wanted justice, and I had no idea why or what... I had no control over my emotions this past coming.

"I'm so angry." I said to no one in particular.

"What else is new?" Someone said from behind me

*I'll take that*

Hel-

"Um'm?" said a familiar voice.

"Yes, Sloven?" Hel said, turning around.

"Um'm, there's some trouble with your brother'm."

"Which one?" Hel said tiredly. it wasn't an uncommon message.

"Jormungandr'm," Sloven said lazily stretching out the syllables.

Hel sighed. "I'm tired, can't Thor deal with him?"

"No'm, he's busy'm," Sloven said. "Idler gave me the message'm."

Hel sighed. Her two servants were possibly the most inefficient creations ever. Probably why Odin gave them to her.

She stood up. "Pete, you're in charge," she called to the mortal at her feet.

"What does that mean?"

"Not much, there's not a lot to rule," Hel said bitterly. "Just make sure nobody frees Baldr. He'll get out at Ragnorak, so there's no use in them complaining. Oh, and tell me if the king of Sweden dies. Although I'm having some trouble with him getting into battles and suchlike." Hel intended to marry the King of Sweden once he died, but the man was a warrior that refused to become ill.

She took her cloak and began to make her way to the Midgard, where her brother would be. It was a lonely road, barren earth on either side of it. She wondered what had put Jormungandr in such a bad mood. It was touch-and-go when he was like this. One wrong move and he could destroy the world.

"I'm so angry!" said a voice in front of her. Hel frowned and paused. Few people trod this road, and she had never met a mortal on it.

"What else is new?" she said sarcastically, not expecting a reply.

The woman turned around. Hel hissed. "Skadi. What are you doing here?"

She narrowed her eyes. "I can be wherever I choose. But you should not be outside your realm."

"I have a man watching it."

"You left it in the custody of a mortal?"

"Well, considering all of you are too busy to deal with my brother, I'm trying to calm him down so he won't... I don't know, kill everybody? Now, why are you here?"

Skadi

"I'm looking for my husband, or my step daughters which have seemed to have dissapeared.... AGAIN." I said putting my hands on my hips.

"I don't think they dissapeared on accident." Hel muttered.

I glared anger had seemed to be heating me up lately.

"Yes, well I could care less of your brother right now." I shot back.

She growled and looked me up and down, her equil and she knew it.

"You might as well have worn plastic wrap honestly Skadi."

"And you might as well draw on that frown with a permenant marker to save your face the trouble." I glared.

Hel-

Hel sighed. "I haven't seen them, so there's no use in looking at me like that." She knew that these remarks wouldn't do much good. Skadi was angry half the time, and the other half she was building up steam.

"I haven't seen them anywhere along this road, and I highly doubt that they're at the edges of the Midgard."

"Maybe your precious brother has taken them," Skadi said.

Hel shut her eyes and sighed. "I doubt it. I'll take you to him if you really want, but to tell the truth, I don't want to make the journey, I don't even know who the message was from and I have a feeling it was a ploy to get me to leave my realm. I should probably be getting back." She spun round to leave. Skadi didn't move.

A thought struck Hel, and she turned again. "You don't happen to know where Thor would be, would you?"

"I doubt he would want to talk to you," Skadi hissed.

"Only he's never too busy to pick a fight with Jormangundr..." Hel mused. She looked up. "They're not planning anything up there, are they?"

"If by 'they' you mean the AEsir, you should know I don't converse with them," Skadi said.

Hel snorted. "You say that, but you're quite happy to help each other out of hard spots," she remarked. Generally it was only she and her brothers who were left out of proceedings. Odin had considered them so unimportant he hadn't even forced them on the Vanir.

Hel hesitated, wondering whether she should go back, or forwards. This could be a ploy to get Baldr out, yet another one (why couldn't they accept it? She gave them a bargain, and they didn't keep it, then they blamed it on her father). Then again, Jormangundr might really be in a bad mood. And though she wouldn't mind seeing some of those idiots up in Valhalla getting squeezed to death, she didn't want to gamble all the lives in the Nine Worlds on it.

Besides, if they broke into Hel, maybe she wouldn't have to look after it anymore.

She pushed past Skadi- who was only a little taller than her, Hel once again thanked, well, herself, for being a giantess.

"You can come if you want," she said nochalantly, but knew that the goddess probably would just fly back to Yggdrasil and not bother her again.

Skadi

I snorted, "I wouldn't have to ask you to come, I don't ask for anything. That's the complete difference between you and me, Hel. I do, you are all talk." I said.

"You know, we were once like sisters, thousands of years ago." Hel replied.

"Oh great... now we're going down memory lane?" I spat. "We don't even look alike."

"That's not what everyone else says." She sang mockingly.

Hel-

She did it to aggravate her. She couldn't help it. Hel was lonely down in my realm. In any case, Hel knew that Skadi was vain, and would worry if people thought she looked like her. She wasn't, after all, the most beautiful creature in the world.

As she searched for an answer, Hel said "I'm going to see Jormangundr."

She went on my way, hoping she was heading in the right direction of his head. He tended to cause earthquakes when he turned around.

She heard her footsteps run to catch up with me. She was astounded Did Skadi actually want her company? Or was she just going to tease her some more?

Either way, Hel ignored her. She didn't speak either, and for a while, we were silent companions on the road through nothingness.

"Come here often?" Skadi mocked.

"Only when I have to," Hel said. "Generally Thor takes care of Jormagundr, but he's too busy, doing what and for whom I can't imagine, or else I think my father visits..." she trailed off, once again unwilling to breach the topic of Loki. Most people were. The AEsir didn't like him because of what happened to Baldr (it was his fault really, not mine, Hel reminded herself, that was another topic she didn't wish to breach) and doubtless he had done something to annoy the Vanir as well.

"Do you get on well with your father?" Skadi asked with mock innocence.

"What do you think?" Hel said darkly. "Do you get on with him? Does anybody?"

"No, that man is one tough mother-" I started.

Hel turned around her eyes icy.

"sister father sister brother." I finished, Hel wasn't easy to get along with, then again I'll admit that I wasn't either I wanted to punch something anything! I just couldn't find anything, I wouldn't hit Hel I didn't want any contact with Hel. I bit my tongue and tried to play it cool.

"Look, we have got to stop fighting."

"Oh goodie now YOUR the godess of peace!" I yelled.

I could swear steam started coming out of Hel's nose.

Hel-

Hel suddenly wished that she hadn't invited Skadi along. The goddess was annoying, pompous and vain. Just like all the others. Except with the added bonus of being angry.

"I have nothing against you," Hel said calmly. It was a lie, of course. She carried on along the road to the edge, taking huge strides at a faster pace. There were no landmarks ahead, only how far everything was behind. Such were the edgelands of Midgard. "You just have an anger problem," she said, looking at Skadi.

"I do not!" Skadi said indignantly.

Hel sighed then frowned. "Aren't you the goddess of righteous anger?"

"Yes."

"Then what have I done that you should be righteously angry at me for?" Hel really wanted an answer. Then again, there were lots of answers she wanted today, where was Thor, why was Jormangundr angry and who had told the idler that. Something strange was going on.

No doubt Loki was behind it.

"You... you..." Skadi paused for a moment. "You kidnapped Baldr!"

"For the last time," Hel said, getting angry herself. "I did not kidnap him. I made a deal with Frigg. If all of creation mourned, they'd get him back. The whole of creation didn't mourn, and so, by the deal, I can't give him back. Odin gave me the job of looking after the dead, and so I shall look after the dead. They practically dug Baldr's grave themselves." She paused and looked at Skadi. "But why should you care about Baldr? You're not of the AEsir."

Skadi was stuck again. Hel frowned and looked around wildly on the road.

"Skadi, something's going on," she said, suddenly very wary.

Skadi snorted. "What do you mean?"

"Somebody made me leave my realm. Your family have disappeared. Jormangundr may be angry, but Thor's somewhere else... and we just happen to meet out here, in the middle of nowhere? And you're righteously angry at me, for no reason?"

Skadi shrugged. "So... just because you're-"

Hel didn't want to listen to another rant.

"Something's wrong," she said.

Skadi

"Why does there always have to be something wrong? What people can't just go someone for a while? I mean honesty." I snapped. "Your like the female verson of my husband, and my dear that's not a complement. He's always saying something. There's something out of order, no there's a rod I'll go get it myself!" I was remembering the good days when we kicked evils ass and smiled while doing it.

"What?" Hel asked with an eyebrow raised.

"Oh for crying out loud forget it!" I said and stalked off.
