Data Squad

Alright, I haven't seen any of the new Digimon series, but I love the games so I wanted to try a storybook based on my knowledge of Digimon.

OK, so Data Squad is an organization of Digimon tamers that basically polices everything in the Digital world. They also work in the real world if Digimon have somehow crossed over and started harming humans.

I'll get more of a solid idea of the storyline as we go along. For now, let's get everyone's profiles up.

Everyone MUST be a part of Data Squad, no evil tamers, no vigilantes, no nothin'!

Note: Where it says 'Digimon's Description' you can just put a link to a picture of that digimon. An easy way to do this is to go to www.wikipedia.com and search for 'Digimon.' Scroll down to near the bottom of the page until you see a link called 'List of Digimon.' All the Digimon that have ever appeared in the T.V. shows, movies and video games will be listed in alphabetical order. Click onto the link of the Digimon you want, copy and paste the http address and you're done. The Digimon you choose MUST be a rookie Digimon. If you don't know why, then you are obviously new to Digimon, therefore more research on your part must be done before you may join this storybook.

A quick note for people who want to join the storybook later on. You are free to join, but you must wait until the main group is finished their current mission before jumping in.

Personality: Courageous, smart, strong willed, a born leader.
History: One of the youngest agents hired by Data Squad, Jake has proven to be a great asset to the organization. He graduated highschool as early as the age of 14 with honors. Both parents died in a car crash when he was 8-years-old. Has only 1 sister.
Appearance: Long red hair, brown eyes, medium height, wears a red Data Squad uniform.
Colour of Digivice: Blue

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Home Country: USA

Personality: Shy, Carefree, Fun, Humorous, Tough, Independant,

History: At age 13 Luna joined the Data Squad. Her mom and dad both died. Lives on her own with her digimon.

Appearance: Long brown hair, cyan blue eyes, slender yet masculine, wears Data Squad Uniform

Colour of Digivice: Light Purple

Digimon's Name: Salamon, soon to digivolve into Gatomon (I fell in love with this one the second I saw it!!)

Attacks:
Salomon: Puppy Howling: A shrill howl used to distract opponents
Sala Pa: Salamon uses her hind feet to push an opponent over
Petit Bite: Salamon bites the opponent

Gatomon: Lightning Paw (Cat Punch): A lightning-fast punch

Cat's Eye Hypnotism (Cat's Eye): An attack that allows Gatomon to confuse and/or paralyze the opponent.

When Gatomon Armour Digivolves into Nerfertimon (which won't be for a while) these are it's attacks:
Rosetta Stone: A pink beam of light erupts from Nefertimon's necklace, and stone slabs shoot forth from it.

Queen's Paw (Nile Jewelry): Gems are fired from Nefertimon's paws.

Cat's Eye Beam (Curse of Queen): Beams of light fire from Nefertimon's headdress.

Golden Noose (Sanctuary Bind): Nefertimon partners with Pegasusmon to bind enemies with a rope of golden light.

(Just so everyone else knows, Gatomon is a bit of an exception. Salamon is a rookie digimon that digivolves into the champion Gatomon. This digimon can stay in its champion form as if it were its rookie stage. The only problem is that it won't be able to digivolve for a while because its next stage is ultimate.)

(I haven't been able to watch the new season very many times, but I love the early seasons. I hope I do this right, as this is my first storybook.)

Tamer's Name: Akira

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Home Country: France

Personality: Akira seems to be very standoffish to some, but really she's just trying to protect herself. Shows her emotions rarely, but those who know her well can tell what she's feeling through her eyes. When she gets around children, she adopts a total mother-like attitude.

History: Joined the data squad recently after a Digimon attack killed her little sister. Ran away from home with her sister and brother Aiden when she was 9 because of as of yet unspecified reasons. Taught herself while she worked, never attended middle or high school. Still lives with Aiden in France in an apartment Data Squad helps her pay for. Aiden is 11 and is cared for by a neighboring lady while Akira's on missions.

Appearance: Long silvery-blonde hair that hangs in ringlets around her too-pale face. Has expressive, gray eyes, is fairly tall and slender. Wears blue data squad uniform.

Colour of Digivice: Silver

Digimon's Name: Renamon (addicted to her and Gatomon when I was younger, and since Gatomon is someone else's...)

*Question...I forgot this but, when a digimon digivolves it doesn't keep it's old attacks doesit??*

When a Digimon digivolves, it doesn't keep the attacks it had as a rookie. Instead, it gains new ones while in its champion form. Same goes for when the Digimon digivolves from champion to ultimate, and ultimate to mega. When it changes back it loses the attacks it had as a champion and regains the ones it had as a rookie. If you're unsure of what kind of attacks a Digimon has, you can check its profile on the wikipedia link you put beside 'Digimon's Desctription.' You can list your Digimon's attacks in your profile if you want, but it's not a requirement.

One character each, sorry. If I wanted to have people control more than one character at a time I would have made my second one a tamer with Agumon. Omnimon is one of my favourite mega Digimon, and if you've seen the first Digimon movie you'd know why.

I haven't watched digimon for a few years but I think I remember it well enough to get by... and I'm feeling lazy Dynamo, so consider this a response to the e-mail - I'm in =D

Tamer's Name: Rydia (It's a Greek name meaning rose pettles on still water. Pretty!)

Gender: Female
Home Country: Greece
Personality: Brave, friendly and slightly reckless. She's often first into a battle and as such is always getting into trouble
History: She has been with the Data Squad for almost a year now and before then lived in America as an exchange student
Appearance: She is quite tall with olive skin and dark, navy blue hair. Her eyes are also dark blue.
Colour of Digivice: Indigo
Digimon: Veemon

Just a quick note, kitty, having Veemon as a Digimon may cause problems further along the road. Unless someone else joins and chooses Wormmon as their Digimon you won't be able to digivolve past champion. You can choose another Digimon if you want, or keep Veemon, it's your choice.

"Squad D, report to the briefing room immediately."

Luna, Akira and Rydia all made their way down to the briefing room. Their digimon, Salamon, Renamon and Veemon trailed behind them. Data Squad HQ was a large building located in the real world, its location unknown to the rest of the world. It's one of the only places with the technology to digitize humans and send them into the digital world.

Sampson was waiting for them in the briefing room. He was a broad shouldered middle aged man, the director of Data Squad. His digimon, Kudamon, floated in the air beside him. "Take a seat everyone." When everyone was sitting he pressed a button on the wall to dim the lights. A large computer screen on the wall turned on. "We have confirmed reports of a digimon causing havoc in Chip Forest, located in the northern hemisphere of the digital world." He pointed to its location on a map on the screen.

"He has been tormenting the locals and purposely wreaking the vegetation, making it difficult for the digimon of that area to find food," Kudamon added.

"I want your squad to find Bakemon and defeat him. Once you've accomplished your goal, wait for evac." The computer screen turned off and the lights came back on. "Any questions?"

Rydia looked around the room before raising her hand. "Where's Jake? Shouldn't he be here, too?"

"Jake has gone on ahead to see what else he can do to help the situation until you three arrive," Kudamon answered.

"If there are no more questions, please head to the login room and prepare to dive." Sampson raised his hand in a salute. "Good luck, squad D!"

Everyone got up from their seats and saluted back to the director.

(A quick note. Digimon are just what their name implies, digital monsters, meaning no matter how real they look they are all comprised of data. Digimon don't die, instead they degrade and turn into digieggs, also called digitama. (Tama is a variation of the Japanese word tamago, which means egg.) When Data Squad defeats a digimon they collect the digieggs and put them under observation back at HQ to make sure the digimon doesn't go rampant again.)

Akira headed off with Rydia and Luna towards the login room. Renamon fell silently into step behind her. Her gracefulness, like that of a cat, matched Akira's own.

"How did a Bakemon get powerful enough to do this much damage?" Renamon asked quietly. "I don't think I've ever encountered one that powerful."

"Perhaps something's feeding it," Akira suggested. "A soul, or anger. It wouldn't take much. Maybe by the time we arrive, Jake will have figured something out."

The login room's door stood open, inviting them to make the transition to the digital world.

Let me explain a little about the geography of the digital world. The northern part is comprised mostly of forests and grasslands. It's home to most insect, animal and reptile digimon. The eastern part of the digital world is mostly plains and wastelands, home to most plant, angel and bird-like digimon. The western hemisphere is mostly cities and factories, the perfect home for machine type digimon. The southern part of the digital world is made up of things like marshlands, cemeteries, caverns, etc. This area is home to many demon, undead, and other mythilogical and mystical digimon. Underneath the surface of the digital world is a place called the circuit board, and home to virus and computer based digimon. Finally, there's the dark area. This place is an area of the digital world that is filled with darkness. This is the most dangerous area of the digital world, as unnatural and powerful digimon whose main goal was the destruction of the digital world were banished to this place over the centuries.

Paints quite the picture, doesn't it? There are other parts of the digital world I haven't mentioned that I may elaborate on later.

There were ten glowing pads on the floor of the login room. Everyone chose a pad, their digimon standing with them. The technicians started pressing buttons, one of them said, "Initializing complete, target confirmed. Prepare to dive in five!"

Everyone readied themselves as they prepared to dive. The glowing pads under their feet, once glowing blue, were now glowing red. Their bodies decomprised into data and soon they were on their way.

It was like traveling through a Ethernet cable, except this one wasn't connected to the Internet, it was connected to the digital world. The walls were illuminated with a bright glaring light as information in the form of 0s and 1s flew past them. After only a few seconds of traveling through the strands of information they arrived in the digital world.

They stood in a black area, numbers and symbols fell from above in green strands like in the movie The Matrix. They weren't at their destination yet, this was the initial login sector.

They heard one of the technicians' voices. "Destination confirmed, imputing coordinates. You will arrive in Chip Forest in five seconds."

Five seconds later the green strands of information began to make shapes. These shapes gained colour one pixel at a time. Pretty soon, everything was in place, and they found themselves standing in Chip Forest.

Akira's digivice began to beep. A woman's voice came through after she activated it. "Have you reached your destination?"

"Location confirmed, Haruka. We've arrived at Chip Forest," Akira replied. Haruka was Squad D's technician. More specifically, she was the one who helped them on missions by sending them target information and mission objectives, as well as advice on how to complete those missions.

"I'm picking up Jake's digivice's signature. He's not too far from your current position. I'll contact him to let him know you've all arrived. Contact me once he arrives and I'll give you your next assignment." Haruka hung up after that.

"So, what do we do now?" Luna asked.

"We wait until Jake gets here," Akira answered.

The bushes to their left started to rustle. They could hear the irritated chatter of digimon in that direction.

"Something's coming!" Rydia said. Veemon, Renamon and Salamon all took a defensive position in front of their respective tamers as five Vegiemon emerged from the foliage. They didn't look too happy.
