Lucian

After the main four leave, I glance around at those left with me. Zytrianna is the first to speak, standing and looking at each of us.

"Looks like we need to get the basic necessities, since no one else is here," she says. "Does anyone have a plan of where we are going or where we are getting shelter?"

I wait for the others to speak, but soon find myself somewhat struck by an idea.

We're in New York... Why not hole away in Central Park, or down an abandoned subway tunnel? The former preferred to the latter.

Clearing my throat, I cross my arms over my chest and look around before making my suggestion.

"We could walk to Central Park," I say. "Hide in the tree tops or something. I'm sure if we get deep enough inside, we could make a temporary camp without being seen, as long as we disappeared by morning. Or we could stick around here, make it easier for the others to find us. There's got to be abandoned subway tunnels around. We just have to pick the right one."
I'm never what I like
I'm double sided
And I just can't hide
I kind of like it
When I make you cry
'Cause I'm twisted up, twisted up
Inside

Baxter's POV:

There it was next to Jeb, clear as my reflection in a mirror, and then clearer. The beast was me. Or a clone of me. Either way the beast sat there and just stared at me. Looked like it was time to fight this thing. I couldn't believe Jeb was still alive, and here of all places. I quickly turned to roundhouse kick the clone, B2 as I will call it from now on, when it grabbed my leg mid-kick. Of course, it has my quick reflexes too. B2 then turned my leg and threw me on the ground. I knew this was going to be one tough fight.

B2 jumped at me with a fist aimed at my head as I lay on the ground. I quickly rolled to the right and grabbed his leg, tripping him. We both jumped up simultaneously and I made a quick-jab aim at his face. He grabbed my fist and twisted it, causing immense pain. He then released and tryed to punch me in the face but I dodged quickly to the left and jumped into the air of the room. He followed suit. I quickly dodged in the air at equal speed to the punches he drilled at me. Then I heard him speak and it placed a permanent scar to my brain. I heard these words in my own voice spoken at me, but coming from B2. "Come back and let me kill you dad!"

He was my son? How was that even possible? I then heard Jeb explaining while the fight was pursueing, as if this was normal. "Well, Baxter. The explanation is quite simple. You are assexual, meaning that you self-produce. You do this through budding, much like bacteria. You don't remember this of course because we removed those memories from your brain. This guy is technically both you and your son. An exact replica."

"That can't be," I exclaimed as I dodged another left jab, "I didn't even have proper nurishment to walk, let alone 'reproduce'." I quickly dodged 10 more punches aimed in quick succession.

"Well, you may have thought so, but what you didn't know is that the diseases and other test we did to you caused forced reproduction. In other words, you produced no less then 10 of yourself and they were all fully-functional in the same manner as you. Including reproducing. With you gone, we took the time and effort into making your 'sons' produce 10 of you yearly, and with 9 of these B2's as you call them reproducing 10 a year over your last 3 years gone, you have at least 270 clones just from your second generation. Do some more math and the 3rd generation added together creating a total of 2970 and then some do to increases in numbers. In simple terms, there are no less then 4,000 B2's in this facility trained to kill all escaped experiments. There are also another 1,000 out there in New York hunting down your friends right now."

I was shocked and quickly grabbed a peice of the ceiling off, as there were metal bars on it. I took the metal bar and swung it at B2 #1's head. He dodged enough to only loose his arm. I then saw it grow back excessively quick, faster then my limbs usually do. How could I forget the powers I had of regeneration? There was only one solution. I quickly pulled the emergency alarm behind me, pressed the button on the panel next to me to free the experiments, and ripped the button off. Now it was time to flee before me and everyone else in the facility were killed by my B2 son's. God I hated that word. I flew through the hall, literally, at record speeds and found Micah and Exi. I told them we had to leave now. There was serious trouble for the others in New York that was only getting worse with our presence here.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing, I had slaughtered these guys, but they don't die. I flew back as more spikes slammed into the multi Baxtor's, but they weren't the same as him, I had killed numerous ones only to have them regenerate. Fighting and clawing were becoming useless, how do you kill what regenerates? That question was beyond me, and for once I couldn't solve it with just killing. I was thinking as I was surrounded, killing the Baxtor's down to the point there was nothing to regenerate from was the solusion to my problem. Doing it, was going to take some to figure out, but I had an idea how. But it wasn't until I came across containment that I may have found some solution, I was running from them now. No real way to kill them, I only find one still in his containment, I punch right though the glass and make my pressence known him.

"Hurry up! Get out of here!" I roar urgently.

I looked at Lucian after he told me his idea.

"That's a good plan but we also need to decide who's going to get what stuff and also who's going to check out the subways. Anyone have any ideas?"

I just stood there waiting for someones response.

Exi thoughts took turns between vile words, strategy, and making sure her partner wasn't dead. Micah seemed strong, able to handle himself. But 115 made her want to throttle someone. Erasers. A dying breed of hate and anger and bloodlust. She didn't like the flash of transportation Micah provided. She didnt like physical contact anyways, and that was.....no. She laid her gaze on the oncoming horde of Erasers. She spoke, quickly, needing a response as soon as possible. Erasers were wolfthings right? So if she could let out a sound that could pierce their oversensitive ears, if they were lucky, deafen them, if they weren't stall them.
"So Micah, how sensitive are your ears? Because I really suggest covering them." She rushed. There wasn't enough time to wait for a reply unless she felt like becoming the pack's next serving of chow. Exi opened her lips only slightly and screeched out a pitch high enough to be painful but low enough to hear. The Erasers fell, clutching their ears, howling out, their agony only to obvious.
"I did not actually thing that work, lucky there's no glass in the room." She gave a grin to Micah and then dove forward to try to save......to save.....
To save something.

Micah

I think I am going to be sick… the thought from Exi made Micah wince, as much as the next one. He touched me… it’s like… no… pain…

Poor girl, the last thing I had wanted was to make her feel uncomfortable, let alone sick, especially when we were about to fight. I opened my mouth to say something, but hesitated when I saw the Erasers making their way down the hall, now probably wasn’t the best time.

"So Micah, how sensitive are your ears? Because I really suggest covering them,” Exi asked me. I almost asked why, but as she opened her mouth and her thoughts streamed out I got the idea fast and stepped back, clapping my hands over my ears as she let out a shrill shriek that reverberated down the hall. The enclosed spaced only seemed to amplify the sound, sending it bouncing around as the Erasers stumbled and fell, clawing at their ears. A couple of their eardrums even ruptured, and blood dripped their ears as they shrieked in agony. "I did not actually thing that work, lucky there's no glass in the room,” Exi said with a grin.

It’s hard to think she is only fourteen, was I like that at her age? The next thing I knew the girl was diving forward, heading toward the Erasers. Some were slowly starting to come to their feet, while others simply writhed on the floor. At least they would be an easy mess to clean. I quickly slid my sword from its sheath and leapt forward. My form blurred and twisted as I vanished and a gust of wind sped down the hall, past Exi and to the back of the hallway, behind the Erasers.

I solidified in the blink of an eye and my sword was already moving. With a clean swipe I slit the throat of the nearest beast, not even pausing as it fell to the ground in a shower of red droplets. The one next to it had yet to stand, and with a quick thrust I pierced it’s heart and stopped its mewling cries. This almost felt like a slaughter, but when it came down to it, it was them or us, and I preferred it not to be us.

The next two Erasers were already on their feet, and had turned to meet me, though they were still obviously in pain. I heard their slow thoughts as I glided forward. Pain… hurts… strike left… I dodged to the right as the first beast swipe went for my left and slipped past him. My sword flashed the tendons in his leg as I moved past, crippling the beast as it fell with a howl. Take off his head… eat… I ducked low as the second beast swiped at my head and extending my palm I sent out a strong gust of wind that knocked the Eraser back against the wall with a loud thud. He fell to all fours and with a quick swiped I dispatched him, turning to see how Exi was doing.

She was still alive, I had kept her thoughts in my head to make sure of that, and the two dead Erasers by her was a good sign. She could handle herself, and that was important. He looks just like me… how is that possible… [a picture of Baxter next to an older man flashes through my head]… I have a son… he has my reflexes…over 4,000…. Trained to kill…. Baxter’s thoughts came out of no where, and the sheer shock he was in almost made me fall to my knees as the emotions coursed through my body.

“Micah? Micah, are you all right?” Exi asked, as she walked over and gave me a nervous look.

“Yea…” I slowly breathed as I sent out a thought to Baxter. You all right? Baxter are you all right?. He didn’t answer, and I wasn’t to surprised, he was probably focused on not getting killed and surviving at the moment. So many of them… they won’t die… I could hear 115’s thoughts as well, and knew he was facing similar troubles, this was all about to go bad. “Shit,” I muttered as I quickly hopped to my feet, “Come on Exi, we need to get moving, things are about to get bad.”

“What do you mean?” she asked as we hurried down the hall. We came into a small lab room, it was empty and deserted and I quickly sat down at a computer and began to pull up some files on the thing. “What’s got you so freaked out Micah?” she asked again.

“Let’s just say company is on the way,” I growled, “and if you see someone who looks like Baxter, kill it.”

“Looks like him? What if it is Baxter?” she asked.

“Chances are it won’t be,” I muttered as I pulled up files and began to flip through them. There was no way I wanted to come here and return with nothing! We needed to bring something back, mostly information, and since I hadn’t stumbled upon a white coat a computer would be my best chance. A door nearby opened and Baxter stepped through… and then three more followed him.

“What the…” Exi muttered.

I quickly flipped the computer over and tore the hard drive from the back. This could be worked on later. “I would recommend that scream thing again,” I hissed as I covered my ears.

The girl was good. She didn’t even hesitate or ask what was going on. She simply opened her mouth a bit and sent out a piercing shriek. The Baxters all rocked and slapped hands over their ears as a couple even fell to their knees. The glass in the room shattered, computer screens cracked, beakers turned to dust, and windows fell to the floor as the sound shook the room. As it slowly faded the Baxters were already climbing to their feet. “I don’t think it worked…” Exi murmured with a nervous glance in my direction.

Kill them… they are escape experiments… I could hear their thoughts as they came forward, and I didn’t even bother to wait for them to make the first move. I raised my gun and shot off three quick shots, taking the first Baxter in the head. He dropped to the floor as I turned and shot the other one as well, felling him. I dived forward and attacked the third, my sword slicing through his arm as it fell to the floor with a wet flop. TO my surprise the instant I cut it off, it began to grow back. His skin rippled and shivered as it extended. The bone slowly grew out, and in a matter of seconds he had a knew arm. I turned around to see the other Baxters climbing to their feet as the bullet holes closed up and the bullets fell to the ground with little pings. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” I growled as I stepped back with Exi.

I could hear Baxter’s thoughts and knew he was fleeing. He still wasn’t responding to my mind, but I quickly sent out pictures to him, subconsciously leading him in our direction as I said, “We need to take care of this quick and get out of here Exi, be prepared.”

“For what?” she asked.

A large gust of wind suddenly slammed into the room, throwing everything around as the brunt of it hammered into the Baxters. They stumbled back and I was on them in a blink of an eye. Slicing and cutting, but their limbs grew back at rapid rate. I weaved and cut, and finally swung hard, slicing the head clean off of one of them. The body fell to the ground, and I kicked the head away as I turned to the other two. This might just work. Go for the left… I heard the thought from the clone as it dove for my left, and I dodged aside, slicing up. The cut didn’t even slow it down, the wound simply closed shut, my sword still lodged in its gut as it socked me in the stomach, picked me up, and hurled me across the room. I hit the wall hard and slowly staggered to my feet with a grunt. The third was already on me. He hit me hard, and I staggered by, trying to get my bearings as he bore down on me. Something slammed in his side, and I glanced up to see Exi, knocking him back with a well placed kick. “Thanks,” I breathed as the two came at us again, my sword still in the ones chest.

I had a sudden idea, maybe impossible, but I thought it could work. “Back away Exi,” I whispered, “I am going to try something, and I don’t want to get you accidentally.”

She nodded and moved away as I focused on the Baxters. I closed my eyes, feeling them approach through their thoughts as I reached out to the wind. I could feel it all around me and for a moment time seemed to stand still. Everything paused… and I could feel everything in the room. The flutter of paper, Exi’s breath, the beating of hearts, and the lungs of the Baxters as they came forward. I reached for the air, and yanked it out of their lungs, forced it from their bodies, and pushed it out, sending all the air away from them. They hesitated for a moment, and then began to gasp. Their mouth’s opening and closing as they struggled to breathe, struggled to get air into their lungs, but none came. It didn’t take long, suffocating someone never does, and as their bodies stopped twitching I let the air flood back into the room and slowly collapsed on the floor.

Exi came over, “You all right?” she asked.

I grimaced at the pain in my side and shrugged. “Probably just a bruised rib.”

“And a cracked lip,” she said with a grin.

I only nodded at that, yea, my face definitely felt like hell. Baxter suddenly came bursting into the room. I felt Exi tense but I shook my head at her, “He’s real.”

“We’ve got to go guys,” he said, “Things are about to get bad.”

“I think they already have,” Exi muttered.

Exi's head snapped to attention and her senses were lit aflame by urgency. Leave? They hadn't accomplished anything at all, no one had been saved, no one had been rescued. All they had done was get themselves in trouble. Her bright eyes flashed, she was not going to leave with nothing to show for their effort, for the death. The ugly bloody deaths, the injuries Micah had received, her own aching throat from the calls, she could hardly speak at this point.
"But...but...." She looked again at the computer, the files, a map of the building. She really needed to work on her own obedience. She shook her head, "I keep defying you, and I am extremely sorry about that but....no. We came here to help, an-" Her vocal chords failed her after that, they had been overused in the amount of the time, the piercing shrieks were the worst. They made her head hurt with blurry images, the kind you get a toddler tries to take a picture of passing cars. She was in the dark. Which she was used to, but it didn't make her any happier. Her eyes widened as her voice faded into silence. There was nothing she could do, she couldn't protest, she could't help. Exi had just like that become the dead weight she didn't want with them on this mission. Self-hatred rose up like ice in water, rickety and tossing and turning.
She looked to the two older boys. They could see it, couldn't they? Baxter wouldn't make them leave without anyone or anything rescued, would he?

Baxter POV:

"Sorry guys, but we have to go. The others back in New York are in more trouble then we were just now. Just take the amount of me's you just saw, multiply it by 100, then multiply the strength by 5 and thats what the others are dealing with. What was here was only second and third gen, the weaker sets. They have 4th and 5th, genetically modified to kill everything. The only thing we can do now is hope that 115 had better luck freeing experiments then we did. At least now we know about the B2, B3, B4, and B5 clones, the numbers representing the generation. We have to go to save the others."

Spoiler
Sorry have been unable to be online.

Nick

I could hear fighting and screaming outside my cage. A white coat flew in front of my cage and I screamed, crawling back into the corner of my cage. A big shadow appeared on my cage's bars and I began to whimper in fear. The door was shattered as a fist came in contact with it.

"Hurry up! Get out of here!" a guy roared.

"O-okay," I stuttered and ran out of the cage. The guy looked shocked for a moment at how young I was, before pointing at a hole in the wall. That must be the exit. I ran out the door, nearly bumping into another strange mutant.

Spoiler
The strange mutant he runs into is Micah.
