I'm never what I like I'm double sided And I just can't hide I kind of like it When I make you cry 'Cause I'm twisted up, twisted up Inside
"The one thing I regret about reading is not being able to live the lifes and adventures of the characters. Maybe that's why I want to write; to create a story that somebody else would want to live."- Me
1. The society itself isn't all that modern, though this takes place in the future. The world just ended and each clan is beginning to rebuild their tribes into eventual civilizations. They're in the dark ages, I guess you could say, but do have access to modern knowledge (such as medicinal treatments, though they don't have the materials, and how to go about things in a safe way, e.i. mining.)
2. The trades are much like the ones you listed. The only others would be the warriors and rulers, who are at a higher caste, which will be explained in the next answer.
3. Well, they're still at war, but the ruling class of each clan was decided by the basic aspect of the alphas (such as alpha males in animalistic packs). The strongest, wisest, or people with the most influence were the ones set in charge. It wasn't so much as decided as it was understood. The caste system goes as follows from top to bottom: rulers, warriors, intellectuals, merchants, basic tradesmen, peasantry.
Hope this helps! : D

No, Biggles. The world just ended. Even if he did have a laptop, there's no electricity to charge the battery, so it would have died the first day he had it. But they've grown up in the end of the world, so only the Baltics would truly know how things used to be.
