We are officially clear for takeoff!

I spent a couple of hours tonight making The Big Book Of Spells And General Knowledge.
Bookmark it. Save it. Keep it in your heart. It'll also be linked on the SB thread. ^^

Our characters will begin at Level 1, so you are capable of using the first of your abilities right now. All of us level up collectively, and experience gain is based on posts on the Storybook Thread. If you look at the table, you'll see that Level 20 is reached at 125 posts. Since I don't expect these posts to be large, I think it's pretty fair. If posts get longer, I'll scale the system to fit.

The Gold System is a different table, based on your personal word counts. 1 word = 1 gold coin. Whenever our party visits a town or settlement, they may find a vendor that will sell them weapons, armor, and other shiny upgrades.

And we're officially off! Please don't think that you have to match the length of that first post...because you absolutely don't. Intro posts are just special things to me. Yup yup. I'm terribly scared of how much I love these characters already.

So if we're capable of the first of our abilities at level one, does that mean that Kazran would be able to use Paring Blade AND Jagged Shot for his Short Sword and Dagger respectively or only one of those?

Whichever your main-hand is gives you skills 1, 2, and 3. Your off-hand gives you 4 and 5.

So if your sword is main-hand, it'll be Paring Blade. If a dagger is main-hand, you'll have Jagged Shot.

Alright makes sense.

[edit] an added question: is this system (weapons/gold/bosses/loot/spells/stats) based off of integrated DnD mechanics? or did you come up with all of this yourself?

The weapon-specific spells are a nod to Guild Wars 2, though you have five skills available to you after killing about 20 enemies. All spells were made up, though.

Gold is just a currency deal--I've never seen a storybook with a gold and vendor system, so I thought it would be a cool thing to try.

Stats are going to be mostly invisible and only notable when it gives your character a special bonus ability or passive effect. For example, a linen cloak for an Astronomer may drop in our first dungeon and have the stat Haste mentioned. This increases movement speed inside and outside of combat. Just fun little things that will be behind the scenes. Combat will mostly just be in the hands of each person who writes it, so I don't mind that much about stats. =P

I believe @Insomnia will be joining us as Marla, which completes our cast!

If anyone still wants a second character, or you have a friend who wants to join, I don't mind adding anyone in at a later date. They'll enter at/around our level and be given any amenity we had to begin with--except the gold count. I'll give them some pocket change. ;P

I'm actually really excited to do this! This reminds me of my days in MMOs, and what would happen if we did simple stuff, like get items from dungeons and how we would do this. Time to make my intro post!

With your two swords, you start out with Flaming Charge.
At level 2, you get Crusader Blast, at 6 you get Holy Aura, at 12 Crusader Blood, and at 20 Guardian's Flight.

Come to think of it, I wish I'd kept the hellish/demon-style attacks for double swords. >.> I may go back for Helios' character-sake, being all evil and whatnot. ;P
