In my experience, SBs are the most fun when a few things are established, enough to get you started, and it's all improvisation from there, with a dash of collaboration between writers.
I've had SBs with very little plan involved in which characters just met each other, and went on adventures together, and interlocking plots and character arcs practically wrote themselves, because of how we inspired each other with what we wrote.
Planning too much early on can be a bit limiting. It's nice to have somewhere definite to start off from, but be given plenty of room to grow and explore.
Speaking of beginnings, I had better work out where my character begins. See you later once I have some idea of what to do with that.

I was thinking Emberly and her brother would be at the funeral. I mean, that seem logical, right? Although, probably just as it finishes, leaving Quint to go off into the marketplace or something?
Welcome to the party, @ChildOfNowhere!
@SirenCymbaline, that's the plan. A bit of an idea of where to start and where to go, but otherwise leave it open for improvisation.

Short intro to my char: he's a blood mage and the king's illegitimate (and secret) firstborn, raised by his high-achieving mother and currently working in the palace as a servant.

Well @ChildOfNowhere you're a blood mage and the king's illegitimate son and working at the palace.
So you will likely know the prince and princess rather well. Torrin will be making an appearance in the castle at some point so you will likely meet him as well.
According to a chat I had with @ScarlettFire, mages can sort of sense eachother, but they wouldn't call one another out. (Of course that will go right out the window with Torrin with the entry I am bringing in with him.
A part of Sévvy's powers is that he can tell mages apart from non-mages, actually, and tell more or less what the mages' "specialisation" is. And no one knows he's a mage, not even the Guild or anyone other than his mother-- he's very careful like that.
He's been at the palace for five years, but I don't really think he knows the prince and princess. He's just a servant, one of presumably many, and the most he might've spent in their company would be if he poured them drinks or something. He's watching, but probably not very up-close. Kinda depends on @LordZeus and @HazelGrace16 and how they think the siblings would treat random servants.
ETA: He might know some of the guards a bit better, if they even bothered to hang out with servants.
ETA2: He might also know other people if they like, slept with him or something xD He's not exactly putting feelings into his relationships for now, plus his position basically allows anyone with a higher rank (so everyone lol) to tell him to do whatever they want.

@ChildOfNowhere I can see where you get that. Regarding that second ability of yours, Sévvy would probably find Torrin confusing as Torrin isn't "Technically" a Mage. He looks like one and his powers seem to be one. But he isn't Technically one.
He can also tell non-humans from humans It's like a package xD
He probably wouldn't know what Torrin is or how it works, though, so he'd keep away but keep his eyes open and stay curious about it.
It's a bit hard to discuss it more without my profile being approved and visible to most of you, really. But Sévvy has a specific kind of personality that means he's not going to do anything reckless or dangerous (he's in enough danger already as is), and that includes talking to mages (especially if it's known they're mages).
He might, however, talk to Torrin -- because he's a dragon and Sévvy would find that pretty cool despite his better judgement -- if the situation arises, but he would not admit to being a mage himself and he would not do it if there was any reason to fear discovery. Right now in the castle, that's a death sentence, especially given his branch of magic, even without the whole "illegitimate heir" part.
That said, @ScarlettFire, if he met Arryn he might be tempted to lower his guards, 'cause he hasn't really met any other blood mages before.

Anyone can PM me if they wish to plan a meet up time for character discussions. Since @LordZeus character is so involved in everything, I am trying to find more ways to connect Emberly to the story and the other characters in it. Please let me know!
