I really, really liked it. I'm curious as to why he wasn't in the state to fall in love with someone.
The only thing I can think of that needs a itty-bitty bit of tweaking is this part....
He's good.
Since you used past tense in the rest of it, I'm pretty sure it should be 'He was good.'
I can't wait to try to find more of your works, I really enjoyed this.
