You'll Never Know My Name
Date Written: 4/27

No one knows my name.
I can tell you what I think and what I feel
but how will you ever know if it’s true?

For all you know I’m an ai bot.
Nameless and emotionless,
with nothing but a broken record
of phrases and words
used by other real people,
with real feelings,
with real names.

I chose my username.
(Or did I?
Maybe I’m the first true artificial intelligence
with a name chosen by its creator.)
And I can tell you what it means
(except I won’t.)
And I can tell you my real name
(unless I’m not real.)

Would it even matter?
To you, I’m words behind a screen.
Patterns of shapes that come together to
form something you think you understand.
But I’ve never stood before you.
You’ve never seen me and you likely
never will.

And I’ve never seen you.
I don’t know who’s reading this
or how you’re reading this.
It could be myself sitting in bed
rereading it all again to make sure it makes sense.
It could be a teen trying to make their way
to their next class while in the halls,
or an adult taking a break from work at their desk.
Maybe you unlocked your phone and found this
in solitude
after crying.
Or you’re scrolling through the words faster
then you can actually read
because you promised you would.

But as we go through our days,
you’ll never know my name.
And I’ll never know yours.

Another one partially inspired by mint
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

Father Time
Dates Written: 4/16 & 4/28

Father Time,
You didn't give me time
to write this.
I stole this time
I should've used for something else.

I want to hate you
but I know it's my fault I wasted you.
Every second you gave me
was a privilege
not a promise.

I promise so many things.
And I tell people the reason I broke them
is because you're not there,
Father Time.

[...Promises
I(m) broke(n)
the(y)m(e)...]

I say I’ll do it
another time.
[Spoiler]
I never do.

Father Time,
we’ve known each other for 807 weeks
and 1 day.
How many more weeks will I waste?
How many more weeks before I crumble under my own guilt?
How many more weeks before you can forgive me?

How many more weeks before I can forgive myself?

1 day,
Father Time,
One day.
But not all days.
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

Blink
Dates Written: 4/20 & 4/28

Not everything blinks.
A teenager addicted to their screen.
An adult reading their book.
A child looking up at the sky.

If you could see the world sped up, you might notice, too,
how the sky seems to blink.
How the world cycles between day and night
and the sun peers down at the world like a pupil surrounded by blue iris.
Inverse the colors of the moon and sky, too, and see another eye.

Not everything blinks.
A forgotten doll left in a box, too deep for dust to reach and pile on her.
(At least if there was dust she could guess how long it'd been.)
A tree standing tall in the sky. The aspens might seem like they're looking at you, but they could care less for the world.
(We're the ones making the problems anyway)

But for those of us that do blink
It seems like everything can disappear in an instant
(But doesn’t that mean
everything can appear in a single instant too?)

Ode to Rigo
Date written: 4/29

Rigo wasn’t an ordinary pet
He was cuter than they could get
There was love in him
And love in you, too
Even when he laced your shoes with glue.

He wasn’t just a mascot
He was a friend
No matter how famous he got
With peril or plot,
He was someone on which we could all depend.

And no, Kaia doesn’t have a hacker alter ego
That little hamster, his name was Rigo.

What To Do If You Want To Be a Bad Writer:
Dates written: 4/23, 4/28, & 4/30

Step One:
Never practice.
Know that absolutely everything you write will be perfect so when the time comes to write your final draft, you won't have wasted your time.

Step Two:
Ignore your surroundings.
There is nothing in life that will help you in your writing. The best writers create everything solely from their imagination.

Step Three:
Never listen to feedback.
If someone tells you to fix something, especially multiple people, know that they're wrong and call them haters. They just don't understand your work.

Step Four:
dont follow grammer or speling rules
ever
this is you're writing so you can do watever you want with it dont let anyone say itstohardtooread

Step Five:
Never edit.
It's going to be perfect the first time you write it, so there's no need to waste your time editing.

Step Six:
Use other people's work.
You can take as many lines from other people as you want. If someone tells you it's plagiarism, tell them they're wrong and it's just inspiration.

Step Seven:
Know you're better than everyone else.
If you think something is stupid, call it stupid. You are never wrong.

Things You Won't See on a Wikipedia Page
Date written: 4/30

Don't let my Wikipedia page be,
"Early life, career, and death."
I don't want you to know what took my last breath,
I want you to know the real me.

Don't tell me the facts and the things you're known for.
Don't tell me the places and faces you knew.
Tell me about the golden sunset at shore,
and the way you buried your dad in sand, too.

Don't tell me their name –
tell me why you loved your other.
Don't tell me how you got your fame.
Just tell me your favorite color.

Tell me the way your heart burned from fear.
Tell me what you wished for on your birthday each year.
Tell me the way you see constellations in stars.
Don’t say what happened, just show me your scars.

Show me the world how you see it from your eyes.
Show me how small we are compared to its size.
Don’t show me your Wikipedia page,
show me and tell me. The world is your stage.
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

my notes section
date written: 4/30

my notes section
is full of broken poetry.

melting silver words
drip
drip
drip
against my thoughts,
searing what i was and what i said
into my memory.
words that i can never change.
emotions i will never feel.
thoughts I never said.
things that aren't real.

my notes section
is full of half-thought cries.

words i wrote when there were tears in my eyes.
everything that hurt me
and everything that broke me.
everything that I could not see.

like golden seeded lies
they took root in disguise
they grew inside, twirling 'round my bones
forcing me away 'till I was all alone.

my notes section
is full of shards of my reflection.
every part of myself that i severed away
every thought and every moment where i thought i was okay.
every moment when i wanted to restart.
tell me, do i even have a heart?

Starts and Ends with Five
Dates written: 4/25 & 4/30

I think most people
know how to structure haikus
but haven't read them.

When's the last time you
Saw a book full of haikus?
I didn't think so.

What can you say when
all you have is five seven
five? There's no room left.

Drained Emotions
Dates written: 4/19 & 4/30

Sometimes, emotions swirl in your head like a sink draining,
tumbling down the pipes and into the sewers of you mind,
where the stench of tears fill the air.

Emotions can be clear-cut, and you'll know exactly what's going on.
And sometimes they're a swirl of paints mixed together,
a dark gooey mixture that you will never sort apart,
no matter how you want to,
and no matter how hard you try.

Your emotions talk over each other in the crowd of your mind,
shouting to be heard, but none of them being listened to.
(They won't even listen to each other)
You're embarrassed about what you did,
and you want to tear it away.
Start over.
Start again.
Maybe not start at all.

Emotions are a pipeline.
If it’s clogged, it can overflow
and burst.

i'm afraid of what you'll find there
dates written: 4/27 & 4/30

i’ll never be the same person you are
i mean, i am different
but i also won’t be the person you wanted me to be

and every day i feel like i keep disappointing you
every time you look into my eyes,
i’m afraid of what you’ll find there

when i was little, i promised you that i would be better
i wouldn’t cause you as much trouble
and i’d be your sweet little angel

you believed me

i don’t know what hurt worse
knowing i broke that promise
or knowing you wanted me to keep that promise, too
either way, i failed.

Everything is Different Later On
Dates Written: 4/2 & 4/30

No matter
What I do
I’ll mess it up.

I’ll mess it up
Because that’s what I do.

No matter–
I’ll just mess it up again.

***

Every thought of every day
is different later on.
Years in the future,
everything will be different.

Things will be different,
very different, later on.
Every thought of every day
years in the future.

In the future,
everything is different later on.

Meaning Meaning
Dates Written: 4/16 & 4/30

It didn’t sound too hard to write 30 poems in a month–
and it isn’t.

I can write 30 poems in a day, sure…
…if you like haikus.

The thing about writing poetry
is that it has to mean something.
You can’t just expect to write about
how the sky is blue
every time you sit down and write.
(I mean, you can…
…but it will get boring)
And when all those ideas just
stop coming,
well,
you’re going to have a problem.
Especially when you try to write 20 poems in a day.
(Something I wouldn’t recommend.
Even if you have a bunch of notes
and partially written poems…
Just don’t.)

But how do you add meaning to a poem?
Right, you just sprinkle it on your cake and call it good.
What is “meaning”, anyway?
Seriously, what?
Tell me. Right now.
How do you even search it up?
Meaning meaning?
Meaning definition:
“What is meant by a word, text, concept, or action.”
That’s the definition. Actually.
Maybe meaning can be described as
“A deeper thought that goes beyond
what is at surface level.”
Although that sounds a bit too much like English class.
How about poetic terms?
Meaning is a game of chess
between the author and the reader.
Except instead of two players,
the reader is the board and the author
is placing the pieces how they please.
It’s the readers job to understand
why the pieces are being placed where they are
and the author’s job to make it make sense.
And the rules of chess are the rules of life.
"Meaning" is the rules –
the why behind the seemingly random arrangement
of chess pieces on a board
and how the reader is the premise for it all.

Style inspired by @TheSilverFox
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

Falling Star
Dates Written: 4/12 & 4/30

“Eventually,
when the last star dies out, a
universe remains.”

Our lives are measured by the amount of times you spin around the sun
People try to predict when you’ll die,
And they’ll tell you the amount of rotations you have left.
Maybe 10.
Maybe 70.
But very rarely - if at all -
Will they tell you that you have 100.
It’s a big number, but small in comparison to everything else.
Big enough that you can’t count on your hands,
But small enough that it would only take a minute to count out loud.
Are you just a minute to the universe?
The answer is no.
You’re less.

Children are blissfully unaware
Of everything they are,
And everything they aren’t.
When they’re born,
Their cycles start from scratch.
But yours will never stop.

Sometimes you want it to stop.
Maybe if the earth stopped spinning,
Maybe if the sun stopped pulling,
Maybe if the whole universe stood still,
You'd find a moment to catch your breath,
Before everything starts moving again.

But nothing ever stops.
All you can do is try to keep your balance,
And hope you don't fall.
(But in the end, you will.)
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

Reduce Reuse Recycle
Dates Written: 4/20 & 4/30

How can there be so much said
with only 26 letters?
A limited amount of words;
an infinite amount of meaning.
(At least, I think)
Maybe there is a finite amount of meanings.
Maybe there are only so many things we can come up with,
before we run out,
or recycle them again
and again.
Unless that's what life is.
Recycled piles of meaning and non meaning
crumpled together in a heap of
rotating green arrows.
Does that mean
Reduce your words, so there are more for others later?
Reuse what people have already made?
Recycle your thoughts so they can be used again and again in different ways?
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
