what happens when i have left the mortal plane
will anybody mourn over my tomb
(i fear that i'll die by going insane,
my cds have all paused and resumed)

death is a concept invented by time
life is a concept that is created by death
(infinite cycle of justice and crime,
we'll end up with legacies like macbeth)

everyone feigns being okay
i think that's a facade we need to end

9.vii newspaper nebulas

inexplicably
empty
(i am like a crossword, instead with each insult i become complete)

are streaming down my face
why did this happen
is this because i am the paper to your pen (you scar me with your name)
(the ink whispers yes, but my heart is screaming no.)
i’ve been dying over & over, and i swear i’m over & over you
(i lied -- maybe i am the real villain, but that doesn’t mean you are the hero.)
maybe i am going to become a supernova when i die
(& you will be a black hole? or maybe you will become the 2nd big bang)
supernovas are supposed to be beautiful
but they are formed of dust and p a r t i c l e s
(eclipses are also beautiful but they are made of stars and moons
which, now that i think about it,
are also made from supernovas.)


the sun lies to us with its beauty we forget it also hurts us too

forgive me for i have sinned
(realizing that i am not the sun but instead i am mercury,
my mood swung faster than the heat and chill of the two sides.)
i am a hideous being, somewhat planet like yet not made of matter
(strange matter will end us all, so i feel like that‘s what describes me the best.)
what if there is other life out there
somewhere in the galaxy
and i have been so ignorant to my desires and needs
that i will not live to tell my tale
(who lives, who dies, who tells my story?)

i fear the worst is yet to come
and i have only seen a glimpse of the future

roses were red
(until i painted their petals green with envy)
tulips were blue
(but i saw you and my garden became filled with sunflowers)

(when i told you i wanted to be more than friends
why did you rip up the hand-crafted letter i made?)
what if love was somewhat fair but then she saw you
she was an angel & i was a monster

10.viii i do not want to be ganymede
the lone sickle harvests the wheat
its blade is dulled by years of use,
though it was loved once too
(i feel like that lone sickle, repetitive and dull)
the lone telescope observes ganymede
but mythology worships ganymede
ganymede is the purest moon,
and he was also the fairest man.
(but ganymede was stolen by zeus,
and he was touched all over)
yet i do not wish to be ganymede
i wish to be idolized like emily dickinson
but she was iconic
and i am temporary
(to you i am the glitch in the system & she was the silver lining)

10.ix i made my sacrifice loving you (i am orpheus, you are eurydice, and i looked back.)

orpheus died for his wife, yet she did not die for him
(he looked back and could not keep her,
and nature decided he should be granted life.)
orpheus was somewhat a muse in the sense of music
(he crafted music skillfully, but as fate had it he could not share it with his beloved wife)
if the god of wine killed him, did the god of death save him?
(we paint hades to be the villain but he is far from evil.
one might claim that he was gentle, and i would not say so, but he is most certainly not ill-meaning)
i suppose that i am orpheus and you are eurydice,
i took a glimpse of the past and now you are gone
(elisyum is our asylum, but we do not reconcile.)

10.◇ b&b does not just mean bed and breakfast

i woke up baffled and bewildered
you left me there at the bed and breakfast
the faint smell of your cologne in the air
i swore the shower was on but when i checked there was just bath soap and bubblegum toothpaste
(you linger in my mind like brutal & binding perfume)

when the turtle leaves the hare, will the hare find new meaning?
(will it become something greater like in the story of the bear and tiger?)
hares are notorious for being sly & breezing by
if i am the tortoise then you are the hare
except in this story, the hare ran away and left the turtle in the night.
(you left me with feelings that were bitter and blunt,
yet you claimed our love was fair and free.)

You told the myth of Orpheus in a different way, a different perspective that I saw it, and woww, it is beautiful :) I definitely agree with you that Hades deserves a better reputation, though still, you've crafted something awesome, herb :]

10.!!!  mundane everyday routine i never get bored of


i wake up from 6 to a minute before 7 (am)

i get out of bed and grab the clothes i set out last night

(often times, i'll forget i have and leave them out on my desk,

then end up washing it with the outfits from prior days)

i walk out my room and i tread down the stairs

(one day, i'll fall down them.)

eating breakfast with a side of morning grogginess

rushing out the door onto a bus i almost missed

unventful school day with nothing new

(such a mundane life, yet maybe i yearned for this simplicity?)

i lurk at home, eat, brush my teeth and write poetry

this is a mundane everyday routine i can live with

and when i sleep i sleep with sweet dreams


then my day restarts.
