Ky felt guilty being the first inside, but Tomhas was clearly trying to get rid of her, so she hurried to the door and rushed inside. The warm air hit her like a brick and made her entire body smart, but it was still welcome. She hesitated then decided to head for the nursery.

Anneke was inside playing a guessing game with the toddlers, while a servant bounced Raina on her knee. She looked up as Ky entered, and her face broke into a wide smile. "Ky!" She got to her feet and hurried forward, and the little ones followed suit.

Ky grinned, heart soaring with the warm reception. The excitement to see her. It seemed so genuine. So loving. Ky launched herself towards Anneke and clung to her in a tight hug.

She was breathing shakily, still clinging to her mother tightly. She sniffled, embarrassed. “I’m… sorry. I didn’t mean…” to cry like this. What a baby.
