"Okay, whatever," Evaline said with her voice at the edges of annoyance, walking a little faster. Just a minute ago she was trying to convince Jerica not to stab herself, and now they were talking about resources and her own motivations. It was bizarre. "We won't split up. It's fine."
“Yeah.” Jerica watched the back of her head as she rushed ahead. Despite how annoyed Jerica was with Evaline, it didn’t change that they shouldn’t push too hard, so she kept her pace slower. “Guess we won’t.”

Evaline kept briskly walking ahead, but when she glanced back and saw that Jerica was trailing behind and losing distance, she abruptly stopped and whirled around, oozing out the pent-up panic and anxiety she had been keeping a lid on.
"How are you so calm?" she barked at her sharply. "You just threatened to kill yourself because of what I've said. Aren't you angry? Why are you so calm?!"
“Of course I’m angry,” Jerica muttered. “But I’m tired of arguing with you. And you didn’t say anything I don’t already know. I’ve heard all that and worse, and it’s usually accompanied with bruises and broken bones. So al things considered…”
Jerica kept her steady pace, forcing herself to stay calm.

Evaline took a heavy deep breath, forcing down the negativity and the anxiety since she didn't want to lash out to Jerica. By the time Jerica was about to pass her, she continued to walk forward, matching her pace this time.

“Only if you’re too emotional,” Jerica grumbled. It WAS painful. And so was this conversation. And all the words still echoing in her mind. She shrugged. “You get used to it eventually.”

Okay, so Levi was Jerica's uncle, and Biryn was the head advisor who hurt her. Evaline had no context to who these people were, but she filed that information in her head.
