More lasers shot past him, and Tarkin spun to avoid them. He didn't usually roll when he was piloting; he had a rough history of motion sickness when that occurred. The fancy flying was left to Vader. This called for some quick work, though, and he could move faster if he spun. The enemies followed closely, and Tarkin climbed through the mild cloud cover, weaving and dodging as best he could.

Their best chance was hyperspace, and the pirates knew that. Sirejj was nearly launched again as a blast hit their deflector shields.
"We need more power to the rear shields! They're trying to take out the hyperdrive!" He called to Tarkin.

"Acknowledged," Tarkin shot back, making the adjustments and wheeling sharply to the right. "There's one sticking close on my left, try and hit it." His stomach churned as he turned again. He spotted a mountain range below and dove for it.

Sirejj cranked the gun as far to the left as possible while being whipped around by Tarkin's piloting skills and took several shots at the vessel. This was one of the few times he wished he knew more of the Dark Side, it would be ever so much fun to reach out and grab the ship out of the sky.

As they headed towards the mountains Sirejj was able for the most part to keep the pirates at bay. "We should be headed for the atmosphere..." He muttered.

Tarkin's ears popped as they descended, and then they were among the crystals, making narrow horizontal flips and more sharp turns. One of the ships tailing them wasn't quick enough and caught the edge of a crystal on the belly. It spiralled out of control and burst into flames seconds later, forcing the other ships to avoid it.

Tarkin had no time to congratulate himself, as he was at risk of meeting the same fate the longer he stayed in the mountains.

Sirejj took down another of the small ships. He hadn't been on a high speed chase for some time and he had to admit he didn't miss it. But there was no time for complaints. He'd have to trust Tarkin's piloting skills to get them out alive.

His hands were tight on the throttles and he maneuvered out of the mountains and into open air. Aiming for above the clouds again, he burst out of the atmosphere into space.

Sirejj kept heavy fire on those still following. They were still trying to take out the hyperdrive. He kept them at bay long enough to prepare for the jump

Tarkin glanced down at the moon fading away. Stars, he'd have to go through the checkpoint again when he came back. He cursed to himself and keyed in coordinates for the hyperdrive. "We're going to jump," he yelled back to Sirejj, frustration and anger bubbling up as he spoke.

Sirejj could hear the anger in his voice. "Ready when you are." He fired one last shot at the enemy before they jumped, the ship lurching forward before steading in space. He leaned back into his chair and sighed, not particularly eager to dismount and have a conversation with the irritated governor. Though he would need to know where they were going. He felt uneasy. He could easily be trapped if taken back to some imperial base. He'd never liked confinement.

He had a feeling things were going to get complicated from here on out.

Tarkin unbuckled and got to his feet, swaying for a moment as he adjusted to the stillness in the cabin, then tossed down his headset and stormed into the gun compartment. "Were you followed?" he demanded, struggling to keep his voice level.

"So quick to blame." Sirejj muttered. "The only people who tracked me here were the inquisitors, and I doubt those scavengers wanted anything to do with them." He said, climbing out of the cramped compartment standing up to his full height.

"There's nothing for them to find there," Tarkin snapped. "Nothing of interest. So either they were there for you or they were there for me. But it certainly wasn't coincidence!"

"If they were after you then you must have those in your midst who are trying to betray you. They weren't rebels, and pirates rarely attack imperials." It was possible they could have followed him, but he would not self incriminate. "I was not followed by anyone other than the inquisitors. Are you sure there is nothing of interest to scavengers on Atoa? We already know that it wasn't as purged as once thought." He crossed his arms but maintained an even tone. He would take it easy on the rebelliousness for now

"Nothing," Tarkin retorted. Anything valuable had been looted by the stormtroopers. "The planet has mining facilities, but the moon has nothing. They had no reason to be there." He paced away from Sirejj, smoothing back his disheveled hair.
