Sirejj waited till the Lady Tarkin had disappeared before standing. "An intelligent woman, Governor. You seem to have outdone yourself." He smiled and placed his staff on his back.

"A marriage of convenience," Tarkin said breezily, getting to his feet. "We make a fine team when it suits us." They'd even loved each other, once, for a year or so and off and on after that. Tarkin had to give Thalassa credit there; he was a difficult man to love. Garoche's death had crushed whatever flickering ember had been left, of course, but that didn't mean they weren't effective as a united front.

"Nevertheless." He suddenly paused, listening to something for a moment. He frowned, reaching out through the forces around him.

Tarkin noticed the change in demeanor, brow burrowing. "What is it?"

"Atoa must be a popular destination." He quickly made his way to the door of the ship, paying Tarkin little heed.

Tarkin was hot on his heels, blaster at the ready.

A tiny ship had set down not far away, and a little figure had climbed up one of the crystals and had a sniper rifle trained on Tarkin's ship.

"Company." He one again drew his staff from his back. "We should leave." They would further disrupt the moon and perhaps drive the Atoans away for good. More fools meddling with his plans.

"Could anyone have followed you? Or are we truly yet again the victims of chance?" He huffed.

More figures appeared from the ship. They were not uniformed, but a mishmash of people. Scavengers or pirates. But what could they want here?

"Company?" Tarkin cast a subtle glance around, spotting the figures. "Surely we can take them. They look like rabble." His training meant he could probably take a few at a time. Sirejj, being Force-sensitive, would make this fight a cakewalk. "I'm not leaving so easily," he added.

"I'm not worried about taking them, I'm worried about the inadvertently sabotaging our mission by further disturbing the peace." As much fun as it would be to take down these unsuspecting scavengers, there had already been enough interruptions for today.

There was a rumbling as another ship began it's descent. Sirejj stepped outside of Tarkin's ship to see where it was exactly. If they were going to be attacked from the air, they were sitting targets. They would need their deflector shields and weapons. Not to mention his ship was unmanned several meters away.

Tarkin grit his teeth. He was right. If the Atoans were that sensitive, he couldn't afford to have them getting even more skittish.
"Very well. Back to the ship; we'll outmaneuver them." He turned back up the gangplank.

"I think I will take my ship, I can't afford to lose-" before he finished his words the larger ship above them fired a singular blast that sent his ship crashing down the side of the rock face. He straightened and turned back to Tarkin.

"Nevermind."

"In." Tarkin strode into the cockpit and buckled himself into the seat. "I'll need you on guns." They'd have to lift off fast--he flipped several switches, and the ship roared to life.

"Gladly." If these scavengers were going to take out his ship, he would rip a few parts of theirs. He climbed into the rear gun compartment. "Best get those shields up before we end up like the rest of the Atoans."

Tarkin was well ahead of him; he'd set the shields as he pulled out of the hiding place. Just in time too; a barrage of laser fire shook the ship, and Tarkin barreled upward, leaning hard on the throttles. The pirates were hurrying back to their ships below.

Sirejj turned the guns towards the larger ship and aimed for the cannons. They were massively outgunned. He was just about sent through the roof as Tarkin took off and grunted, strapping himself into his seat.

His ship was a loss. That worried him slightly. Wherever they were headed was going to be crawling with imperials and probably more of those bickering Sith. Forbid one of the greater Sith lords, if they were there and Tarkin decided to pull any tricks, he would be in deep trouble.

He knew more than any of his surviving kind of magick and had just enough of a connection to the Dark Side to know that the more powerful Sith would be capable of tearing his mind apart. There were a few techniques to prevent this, but he had not mastered them all. It didn't help that he was forced to learn on his own.

Then again, he was used to that.
