I prefer desk. "X has left a note on your desk." Has a very nice ring to it.
Though I really, really love "X has scribbled in your notebook." It sounds more fitting for a young writers site.

I like the notebook, I think its appropriate and makes more sense then writing on a wall!
Scribbles is cute, too

also is there anyway to get "notifications" as you do on facebook, because I never know when someone posts a comment..

Just check your Notifications every once in a while. The link is at the way top of the screen, next to the search bar.

If you're talking about getting a notification every time someone leaves a comment, like how you get one with PMs, the Comments/Suggestions thread would be a better place to suggest it. :D

And I'm glad/surprised so many like my little Desk idea. :3

I like Scribbled and Desk. I'm not a big fan of the Gab, or the ones like that, probably because they don't really have to do with writing. They'd be fine for non-writing sites, but they just seem too slang-ish for a site that doesn't allow chat speak.

I like Writer's Block the most. It's cute and ironic. Get it? Cus we all hate writer's block with a BURNING PASSION but then it's a block for writing instead. I think that's a pun or something.
I am nothing
but a mouthful of 'sorry's, half-hearted
apologies that roll of my tongue, smoothquick, like 'r's
or maybe like pocket candy
that's just a bit too sweet.

But how does it sound in a notification? "X has left a message on your writer's block" (possibly left a chip in your writer's blog) doesn't sound nice to me.

Notebook for the line "A scribble in your notebook" or desk for "a note on your desk." Note also could relate to the status updates, especially the number of notes to self that can show up. Because the word has to be short to fit, I like "desk" better.

Writers Block sounds more like a forum name, sort of like something that could be for The Lounge.

Another brick in the wall? /shot

Cheap puns aside, I agree that Writer's Block makes for awkward-sounding notifications. And Notebook seems too much of a mouthful to my lazy self? Desk is nice and short.

For something else with writerly tones, Margins? "You found something written in the margins" or something along the lines?

Elinor Brynn wrote:Notebook?

Edit: Going off of Jagged's idea, instead of posting comments, we could scribble?

i.e. "X has scribbled in your notebook" as opposed to "X has posted a comment on your wall"

I agree with Elinor!

But, I also like desk and note.

I'm tied between:

"X has left a note on your desk"

and

"X has scribbled in your notebook."

Both are cute. So I guess I'm okay with either.
