Some people may remember that YWS used to have an Interactive Stories section quite some time ago (2006, I think). The way it worked back then is that it was a wiki. Anyone could add onto it, and if you knew how to post in a wiki, it worked decently enough.

Problem was, most people don't know how to post in a wiki. Worse, spambots frequently made a mess of things. So eventually, the section was shut down.

But over the past few days, I've been working on a new Interactive Stories section, and I think it's now complete. To get to it, go to "Fun" in the header. By the way, a few more things will be added in that section (namely, a downloads section so that you can download the YWS desktop wallpaper again).

So what is an interactive story? It's a story that one person starts and others can finish. On YWS, you can even control who may add onto it.

But, the best way to find out what they are is simply to go see for yourself.

Edit
This is also the most complex new feature I've ever added. As such, please expect bugs while I get things ironed out.

Heh, I hope so Skins.

In any case, I created a 'Test Interactive' that everyone should feel free to do anything with. It's to help you with understanding how the whole thing works.

Question:

What, exactly, makes Interactive Stories different from storybooks?

If you go to the fun section you'll find out ;)

With interactive stories, each section of writing is followed by a selection of options and then more writing, more options etc and the people reading it can follow their own story by selecting an option so there's fun in writing and reading. It's not the easiest thing to explain and you'll understand it better by playing around with it ^^

Knightley: Just a bug; as the original post says, expect them! Thanks for reporting it, and I'll fix it tomorrow.
