Say goodbye to the chat. I've decided that when the new YWS opens in February, the chat will be replaced by an entirely new chat.

The reason is due to the popularity of the chat room; it's starting to fill up with 20+ users on a regular basis. This is awesome, but because the chat program YWS uses is the cheapiest McCheap on Cheap Street, it causes the entire site to slow down dramatically.

For those who remember, the new chat will be the one I briefly tried out earlier in 2008. It'll be hosted by an outside vendor, so even if it fills up with 50 people, there'll be no slow-down on the site. Plus, since I'm going to be paying for a monthly subscription, I'm going to work on keeping it open a lot more often. After all, if it's closed, that's just money down the drain.

But this is good news, it was really slow.

Because the chat is going to be open more often, are the monitoring rules going to change? Just a curiosity.

I'm hoping the monitoring rules won't change. We need them.

Personally, I'm up for being in there more often if I have to be. I'll work it into what I'm doing.
