In light of the recent server problems, as well as the occasional severe downtime (last experienced in July 2007), I've created a backup site to be used when this site is down.

The backup site is at:
http://yws.nathancaldwell.com

So if you need your YWS fix but YWS is down, just go there! It's almost 100% not like YWS, but it does have a few forums and a chat room. I recommend bookmarking it just because you never know.

And the things placed on the backup site, will they then be added to this site (by a mod, I guess), or would we have to repost them on YWS it's back up and running?

No, they won't. It's a lot more time consuming and bothersome than you may think. If you visit the site, you'll see that stated in the Writing forums.

Smart idea! I'm all registered--at least now we have a last-ditch place to hang out if YWS is unexpectedly or extendedly down. Thankee Nate!

Me too! It looks like YWS 2.0. Or some previous incarnation of YWS.

Aye, you both (Bek and Nicole that is) probably remember back when YWS was at http://yws.nathancaldwell.net. So what's there is something like the previous site, and it's using the same skin as YWS 2.0.

Memory lane!

Ya know, I'll even add noteboard to it for Bek.

Oh man. I feel so old, lol. When you posted the link, I just stared at it. "That... that was YWS. That's so old-school."

Thanks for feeding our addictions. ;)

As earlier today made abundantly clear, YWS will crash every now and then.

So I urge everyone to join:

http://yws.nathancaldwell.com

ASAP.

If you join, then I'm able to send you an e-mail with information about an outage as well as the link to the back-up. If you don't join, I can't do that. This time around, the site came back up after only 12 hours. But outages have lasted as long as five days in the past.

[Firearris] 10:46 pm: aquires the weasel and renames it "Cat"

Take that, Lumi.
